I have this dress in four colors (including the navy pinstripe from a prior season). I own the matching suit jacket in three of the four colors as well as the navy pinstripe pants. I wear the dress + jacket combo much more often than the pants suit combo. Currently stalking a fifth dress. I love it (them). Highly recommended.

Haha, I just bought that suit coat yesterday! Only in black. I tried on the navy pinstripe though, and was tempted. (Just so's ya know, it's a little shiny. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but worth knowing, if you have an opinion about the shininess of a suit).

I would go with the pinstripe shell and blazer, and, like Jyoti suggests, maybe a pair of matching pants or a skirt instead of a second sheath. Although if you find that the sheath fits you like a dream, maybe it's worth getting two.
I would go with jacket/sheath/skirt or pants, rather than buying two sheaths. I think the two you linked are just too similar that there would be little point to buying both. Another bottom gives you the suit for when you need it, but can also be used on its own for other outfits as others have mentioned.

I really like the idea of a navy pinstripe jacket, sheath and Pants. I feel like two sheaths is a lot of duplication especially as the plain navy wouldn't make a "suit" with the pinstriped jacket.

I'm waiting for JCrew to deliver my navy sheath dress. I'll post it once it does.

Una, trousers are definitely an option too. JCrew always has these lines, so adding on at a later time should not be an issue.

Ingun, Rachylou and Deborah, I hear you! I kind of see your comments as opposite sides of the same coin. If I go with trousers or a skirt, then I have more options to mix it up with different styles of tops and sweaters. If I go with a dress, I have duplication and fewer options to mix it up with tops (although the style will work with a top underneath, it will pretty much have to be a button down or a turtleneck style), but I also have simplicity. I can wear the sheaths alone, with the jacket, with a top layered underneath, and with a top layered underneath and a jacket. Wearing them alone will be simple simple simple. I'm leaning toward simple anymore.

I'm thinking this through a bit based on your comments. I was shying away from the pinstripe sheath because I was feeling like the plain navy sheath was going to give me more versatility. Maybe I'm overthinking it, though.

A pinstripe is a non-patern patern, isn't it? Maybe I should go with a navy pinstripe sheath, a navy pinstripe jacket and a navy pinstripe trouser. So many choices!

If you really enjoy wearing a sheath dress, then I don't see an issue with having the two. I really like the idea of the dresses and the jacket. It depends of course on your need but you could add pants and/or a skirt later? I also love how dresses are low maintenance, pop it on, add jacket and you are good to go. Oh... and I love the thought of navy.

Hmm, what about pants, or is that not an option? I think jacket, sheath, pants could also work, or a skirt. Two dresses may be not as versatile. Can't wait to see these on you and feeling inspired. J. crew never works for me at least in dresses though.

I'd do both sheaths and the pinstripe jacket. I'd put them all to use. But, if only one sheath, I'd do the pinstripe so I'd have a suit suit.
You look great in a sheath style. Have you tried these ones on yet? It might be good to do that before deciding. It does seem like a bit of duplication with one pinstripe sheath and one plain, but it depends a bit on how prominent those stripes are IRL.

Hm. I love the idea, but I think that a skirt/dress/jacket combo is a good choice, too. Then you have more choices to play with in regards of tops.

I need to replenish my suit capsule. I don't wear suits often, but I do need at least one. All of my suits are either too large now (yay!) or too dated (boo!). JCrew is running a 30% off promo for card members and I've liked my JCrew suiting in the past, so I think this may be the time.

Here is what I am considering:

Navy sheath dress,
Navy pinstripe sheath dress, and
Navy pinstripe jacket.

Sheath dresses alone are very wearable for me outside the suit. A real no-brainer choice for integrating into my wardrobe. Sheaths are even easier than a skirt because they can be worn alone, without additional pieces. I feel like keeping all of the pieces navy will let me mix and match the sheaths with the single jacket and still have a strong suit feel. I can add a shirt underneath to switch it up a bit too. I worry that I'm duplicating too much though. Any thoughts?
