Thank you all.
This is not a simple hem that I would try myself or trust at the cleaners. I need waists taken in, and I think doing it right is going to mean taking the waist band off to resew it.

I will give a call to both of the shops in Bellevue and see what I can find out.

If anyone else from the area knows a good tailor I'm happy to have more names.

For things I can measure myself I take them to my cleaners (as long as it's simple and I know exactly what needs to be done - usually limited to hemming pants and less than 1 inch out of the waist).

Otherwise, I have taken things to Nordies. However I find them a bit spendy and they take a long time. But they always do a bang up job, so when it's something more complex I'm OK with paying a little more.

This guy used to work at Nordstrom. I think he primarily does men's though. He did a great job with my father's stuff including altering a blazer

Julie - it's been a few years, but I've used Soho Tailoring in downtown Bellevue in the past and their prices were very reasonable. I haven't had the specific items you mentioned tailored, but my aunt used them a lot in the past for more complex tailoring (taking items in) and was impressed by the quality of their alterations.

I have been editing and shopping over the last several months to build a working wardrobe as I transition from a casual work place to a more business dress office. Thank you to Angie and this forum for help in guiding choices as I work make this change.

Right now the biggest chalenge I have is the need of a good tailor. To buy slacks and blouses that fit my hips and shoulders, they need some tailoring to take in the waists and hemming.
I live in Washington state in the Woodinville/Redmond area - the east side of Lake Washington. Does anyone know a good tailor in this area with reasonable prices?
Also, what should I expect to be paying to tailor the waist of slacks, or jeans? What can I expect to pay to have darts added to, or taken in on a blouse? For so long I have just lived with the fit off the rack - but now that I am putting some real investment in quality pieces I want the fit to be right.

Thank you all for any recomendations - and for your guidance to this point.
