Not tights, but maybe these:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sp.....tback=4408

I honestly switched to Commando tights and let my wobbly bits fly.

Great question...I'm looking forward to hearing the answer too!

Jenava's idea sounds good if there isn't a great pair of tights out there that you like. And, I'm wondering if plain old No Nonsense in the drugstores has long enough coverage? They're made in the USA and I've had pretty good luck with them as far as not snagging when I barely look at them.

Spanx does make tights that only come up to normal waist height. I have a pair that have "thigh control" but the leg portion is too long, so it just ends up being a very awkward situation all around. (-: What about just getting some of those bike short things? They make some that have very light support...Then you can wear whatever tights you want...

I wear my high waisted spanx alot. I like that they are completely opaque and they don't dig in at the waistband. I just have 1 pair. I wash them in the sink after I wear them. They've held up perfectly all winter long. I'll probably get a pair of their leggings next winter just to have a warmer option.

Aw, you guys are sweet. I posted in a weak moment of frustration, I really do feel better about my legs than I used to! Didn't mean to be negative.

Even though I'm running, and my legs are more toned and fit, i never lose the "saddlebags." They were there even when I was a young and thin teenager, so I shouldn't be surprised. I just want to minimize any lumpiness that occurs there, and I was so bummed that the DKNY tights actually exaggerated my issue. I think boy-short length may also be problematic. And it just seemed odd to me that most of what's in the stores now are cut similarly. Surely I'm not the only woman who just wants to smooth out the thigh line some!

Una, I agree....she looks to me like a legs GODDESS every time she posts. How anyone could hate those gams is so far beyond me I can't even begin to scratch my head in wonder.

For goodness sake, why are you hating your legs? They look so slim and long to me in everything you post! And if they're all muscle from running, control tights will not compact them.

Sorry, I know that's not really a solution. I just had to chime in anyway.

Janet....you are running, right? So your thighs are probably pretty darned muscular now? I'll bet there is not a whole lot of fat to "control" in this area.

I am wondering, what if you try a pair of non-control type tights to see how they feel/fit? I mean good quality ones. I am wondering if what's bugging you is the contrast between the held in part and the not-held-in parts?

OR...you might look at HUE tights. I'm not sure the control portion goes as far as you like; it might have to do with a person's height, and you are tall, right? On me the small size control portion goes down to a sort of boy-short level. It doesn't go all the way to mid-thigh, by any means, but it doesn't end right at the hip, either.

That is in the winter tights, however; I'm not sure if the warmer weather styles are similar.

I'm down to my last two pairs of black tights, and one is at least 5 years old, so they're living on borrowed time. The other are brand new high-waisted Spanx, which are great, but I don't always want my tights to come up to nearly bra-level (although they're great with knit dresses).

But here is my dilemma -- I recently bought a pair of DKNY control tops which are very nice, BUT the control top portion ends right at the hip line. I don't need tummy control so much, but I need thigh control. (Really trying hard not to hate my legs right now!) My old pairs (so old I can't remember the brand) had a control panel going down to mid-thigh.

The hosiery department at Nordstrom was sadly lacking in this area -- only if i want more Spanx, and honestly, I don't want that level of control all the time. Does anyone know of a good quality not-too-opaque tight that has control going down to mid-thigh? Or should I just give it up and get non-control-top tights?
