Ah, right, I remember that post now! Thanks for the reminder, Angie. It's definitely a shirt I'll look into when I'm ready to get an investment piece. Sadly, I'm not quite there yet. I wish I were!

JG, I'll add NY & Co to my shopping list. I was thinking this weekend I was going to hit the biggest mall here and try a bunch of new-to-me stores to see where I am at with their sizes. Searching for new button-downs seems like the perfect starting point for that.

Carissa! That’s fantastic! I’m jumping for joy! You are brilliant! I’m so happy for you. You sounded fabulous and the models looked SO MUCH better in your product :0). You need a Carissa shirt, Kristen.

Thank you for the shout out Angie.

You are right on the sizing too. I think the W (Well Endowed) sizes are pretty much an 'every woman's proportion'. One certainly doesn't see my bust-line coming their way and most would probably not even describe me as busty.

Our forum member Carissa, makes button downs. Her name is Carissa, so I’ve called her shirt “the Carissa shirt”.

http://youlookfab.com/2009/01/.....usty-gals/

Don’t be put off if the bust measurement seems too large – Carissa will probably be able to sort you out. A client of mine in Milwaukee is not nearly as busty as Nicole is in the picture and she has a Carissa shirt that looks KILLER. I’d say she has a pretty normal sized bust line. I hope Carissa chimes in.

Kristen, I think my favorite one's are the NewYork & Co. I like their "City Stretch" shirt. It's not too long (like some of my others I have) & it's more tailored, not boxy. Just the right amount of stretch & buttons start about mid-chest if I remember right. I have a couple in 3/4 sleeve. Looks like it's mostly short sleeve & elbow length on the website now but they still had some in stores a few weeks ago when I was there. Try them!! Good price point & they usually have a nice color selection also. Good Luck!

Kristen, I just saw this on WHBM website and though of you:

It seems to fit the description of your existing shirts.

You can use of these coupons if you do decide to buy one or more:

I have a few from AT that are similar to your F&T ones - buttons that start at the v and that have the curved hem. But I always have to try them on because they are hit or miss when it comes to fit at the bust. Lately, I have had luck with the BR button downs and they seem to be frequently on sale (I bought two that were under $20 each in the January sales).

Kristen - I agree that EB can be a bit boxy. I've pretty much stopped buying from them because of that, but button-downs have always been a problem for me (large bust) and I do like these particular shirts. I like the v-neck, and the short sleeve one fits nicely. I also have one of the Ann Taylor shirts, which is much more fitted (but slightly tight on the bust for me.) I also have a Jones NY button down, which is very nice but a bit pricy (I bought it on sale, with a Macy's coupon.) Also at Macy's I found a button-down from Alfani (which I think is one of Macy's own brands?) All the shirts I bought had the more open v-neck - I can't wear the traditional button-ups.

I really had to shop around and try on a million different shirts. Good luck with your search!

Oooh, thanks for the recs on Express button-downs! It's been one of those stores I hadn't been able to shop in before, but I think I finally can. I've done a couple of walkthroughs around the store but haven't tried anything on yet. I think your recommendations will be the thing that gets me in the dressing room; I had my eye on a couple of other tops too.
I'll check out the J Crew's too, but probably only at the outlet store for now. That's a little too pricey for me just yet.

I have also had good luck with Express button downs. I bought the ribbon button down blouse last fall and it fits me like a glove.
I have also had great success with JCrew's button downs. I have three currently, and they fit perfectly. They are also fairly good quality. You can find them in many colors (even some patterns!) and there are probably quite a few on sale now.
My most recent was a short sleeve version:

I have actually had good luck with Express' button-down blouses. The side seam is curved, material is cotton/poly/spandex, and the buttons are spaced closely enough together that I don't get a gape at the bustline (which is VERY rare for me.) They might be worth a look (particularly since you are still in the midst of your loss process & not at your permanent size, so I'm guessing you aren't looking for investment blouses yet.)

At long last, my beloved Forth& Towne button-downs have gotten too big and have to be retired. They have served me so well over the years, I'm genuinely sad over losing them. They're perfectly cut: 3/4-length sleeves, buttons that start at a vee on chest instead up at the neck, a pretty curved hem that sat perfectly on the hip for pants. And in so many colors: classic white, teal, chocolate brown, and pale lilac were the last ones I held onto, pink and blue having been worn thin long ago.

Clearly, they need to be replaced. Button-downs are a great look for me, perfectly in my style niche. But of course, since I'm not quite done losing weight, I'm not ready to spend a lot on them.

Does anyone have suggestions for where I might find good replacements? I'm not looking for the classic cut, I really preferred the more feminine lines of the F&T style. Plus, I'm busty so the up-to-the-neck button style is less flattering on me. Just white is a fine place to start, but if you know any that are in colors, pass 'em along! Thanks.
