i'm glad to hear about Rosie...i come from a long line of proud puppy-spoilers :)

Thank you Claire! silk knits tend to be a bit pricey - but my husband gets that Sierra Trading Post catalog and if i'm not mistaken they sometimes carry silk knit long-johns at discount. I'll keep an eye out!!

oh Suz, thank you!! i'm enjoying your writer's conference looks - that's really smart to get it all worked out in advance, and you're coming up with some really great looks. Hitting a nice balance of cool and professional!!

you know, i love that jacket and wear it all the time. i got it at a thrift store for $5! the label reads "YMI lets UBU". 'lets' is in a heart. i have no idea about the brand - ?

i'll definitely report back on my findings!

Have a great sunday! steph

Oooh! I love this outfit, Steph! It's fantastic.

What kind is your jean jacket? I am on a hunt for one, still...

Re leggings that won't stick, I understand this desire completely. It's one reason I won't wear denim skirts in winter, even though I LOVE them! But it occurs to me now, another option (maybe) would be a slip under the skirt.

Please post more of your great style, and please let us know which leggings option you go with and what works!

I love the outfit you posted, too! Hope the long johns work.

I used to wear LLBean's silk long johns under my jeans. Come to think of it, I'd wear them under a long denim skirt with tall flat boots. They weren't meant to show, but I was confident that they would look enough like tights if they did. They were black, slippery and very comfortable. They are quite a bit more expensive than the Secret Treasures, but maybe you could find knit silk at the fabric store.

*chuckle* - nothing a cool lass like you can't handle.

As amazing as our NYC trip was, it's killer to be back home with our little Rosie (the most spoiled puppy in the world).

Great tip Vildy! $6 is much cheaper than sewing from scratch, and i could alter for fit, length with little trouble.

"They do exfoliate the dead skin on your legs." hahahah!!! i have dry skin to begin with, i'm quite familiar with this effect. The joys of winter!! : ) thank you Vildy!!!! steph

I'll tell you what I have. Secret Treasures lightweight thermal underwear, $6 apiece from Walmart. Not bona fide leggings, of course, but I wear them that way when I feel like it. The fabric is half cotton and half micronatique tm polyester. They're silky. I live on the East coast and they're surprisingly warm for something so thin. They don't seem to stick to anything I wear.
They do exfoliate the dead skin on your legs. These came in black, white, pale pink. Long bottoms, long sleeve vee neck tops, deeper vee neck sleeveless shell. I wear some combo of these day and night throughout the winter.

Fall seems to be making up it's mind to settle in here in the SF Bay Area. I'm looking for advice on leggings/leggings fabric/fibers that are warm, slick and won't stick to cotton skirts worn without a slip. I sew, so i am more interested in the type of fiber content that you find works well as opposed to particular brands, fit, etc.

I love the way polypropylene works as a base layer, but i can't find it in yardage. I'm thinking i could throw on some leggings under this type of typical outfit and get warm without a lot of weird bulk or layers.

Thanking you in advance!!! Happy Saturday! steph
