If you go down a size, this jacket will get a KILLER rating. You need to shop at Zara a LOT more often, April :0)

That being said, this jacket is not a bad fit at all.

I have this jacket too, and mine definitely fits...more fitted. I wear it as a jacket, not as a coat or outerwear if that makes sense. So I like it really fitted, but not snug. Can we see pics of the S?

It is far more important for the jacket to fit in the shoulder than it is for the jacket to close. Many of my jackets do not close, but they look far better on me left open than they would in a larger size, like the H&M jacket I just mentioned. This jacket does not close but the next bigger size was too big. Too much fabric in the arm and a sloppy shoulder line are not worth the theoretical ability to close. Most jackets look better open anyway, especially when they do not form a V when closed.

http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....G_2336.jpg

That said, I may be wrong and the Zara jacket might fit just fine in the shoulder, but nevertheless that is THE most important thing to consider. I also just can't imagine tiny April is an M. I have a feeling though, that if we saw the S on her to compare with, the S would win, but obviously there is no way to tell. I just don't think the ability to close the jacket should be the dealbreaker.

Please see:

http://youlookfab.com/2008/09/.....ed-jacket/

I don't think the M looks bad, I just think the S would look better. I guess Angie will need to give her input on this one. If she disagrees with me, I shall gladly stand corrected!

It's very cute. I think that if pleather stretches like leather does, the small would have been the proper size.

I think the M is perfect. Jackets should always close even if you don't intend to do so.

I'm sticking to my guns. The second picture is the most telling of the three since your arm is at your side.

For what it's worth, when Angie and I were at H&M, I tried on a moto jacket in my usual 36, and it closed easily (even over my ample bosom), but the 34 looked much better. I don't know if it would have closed or not because I didn't try it. It just didn't matter to me because it looked so much better when open, and Angie agreed!

Hi April, I'm copying my reply from the other thread here, hope it helps?

April: fab, fab jacket!!! I'm not very good at judging sizing unfortunately, but I like the way this looks on you. Maya might be right that you could probably fit into a smaller size, but I'd also consider layering possibilities. I think you're only wearing a light-weight t-shirt type top underneath here, how does it look and feel over a sweater, or a button-down shirt or a dress?

Maya and I were talking on the Zara/H&M thread about this cropped pleather jacket I got as a Valentine's gift. I said the size S had been too small to button comfortably, so I got the M. Maya was concerned that this jacket isn't meant to be buttoned and I probably should have stuck with the S.

Opinions, please -- this jacket still has the tags so I could exchange it. I can be a bit clueless about size, so please weigh in honestly! Thanks.
