When I walk or run the treadmill with exagerated long strides I can really feel it in the butt muscles the next day. I'm trying to pump mine up!!

Well, I haven't always had a big butt, and I definitely preferred life without it. You end up having to disguise it either way. The best thing for me was when I had a medium, normal, average butt that came out but not so much that I couldn't get my jeans over it, or that it causes my shirts to ride up and sit on top of it like some kind of platform. And I can't even begin to list all the different pants and clothing styles I am unable to wear because of it.

Thanks everyone for making my internet shopping easier. It certainly adds a new dimnsion to have to order 2 sizes rather than just carry them into the dressing room. Also with what I am going through with NAU going bankrupt I'm somewhat leary. I trust J Crew has been around long enough to not surprise us like that.
I have to say to Maya and all who have a round butt, be proud it's not flat like mine. I have to work around my flat butt and disguise it. I've thought of implants, or padding. I'm so glad the length of tops has come down. I'm envious, I mean happy for, those with a Jennifer Lopez behind.

I tried on the trouser jeans in a 2 and I was swimming in them (2 is my regular size). They didn't have a 0 for me to try on, so I can't really say how they look or fit. But they definitely run a size big.

I'm really not sure about the Matchsticks. I find they run small, but Angie and others have said they run big.

HOWEVER (a big however)

San, you are very slender, so I would order your regular size, which is probably a 27 if you're a size 4. The reason mine are tight is because I can't quite get them over my rather monstrously large bottom. You don't have that problem, and judging from how Angie describes herself, I don't think she does either, so that might be why she felt they run large while I feel they run small.

I've never tried any of the other J. Crew denim, really, but Maya has the regular matchstick jeans and she said that they run true to size and don't stretch out too much, so you might want to go with a 28 on those.

J. Crew does have trouser jeans, but I've never worn those either. Anyone here worn these? Where's Christie when you need her? I bet she's worn the trouser jeans.

Thanks! Do the long matchstick pants fit the same as the clamdiggers? While I'm ordering from J Crew I want to try the matchstick pants also. Should I order the 27 in them also? I have only boot cut jeans so thought I'd give straighter legs a try. I also like the trouser leg jeans and some day will try that look too. Does J Crew have a good pair of trouser jeans also?

A 28 = a size 6. So, if you are ordering the dark denim clamdiggers, I'd go with a 27.

I am going to order the J Crew matchstick jeans and the clamdiggers like you all suggested. I am not familiar with ordering in waist size like 28 or 29. I am used to ordering a 4 or 6. My question is, does anyone know how to translate a size 4 to the waist size?
Now I believe you all said the jeans and the clamdiggers run large so I would want to order my smallest size which is a 4.
