Your hair is gorgeous. I know nothing about curly hair (mine is straight or wavy depending on the humidity and how it is feeling that day). I am a low maintenance person. The cuts you have chosen look very flattering to your face and eyes.

Your hair is gorgeous! I especially love #3! I hear you on neglecting the hair--I've gone nearly a year in between cuts when I got so busy with the kids. Now that I have bangs it forces me to go in at least every couple of months. It's important to take time for yourself. Can't wait to see the results!

Astrid, I've been to the place that does DevaCuts, but I've never actually had one before. The idea is that they cut your hair dry, looking at each individual curl as they cut. I'm excited to give it a try.

I've heard of DevaCut - did you ever have one before?

From your new inspiration pics I like the first one best, I think that length would look great on you! You have beautiful eyes and that cut will draw attention to them. Do you think the longe bang would be manageable?

From your first pics I like #3 and #5 best.

I made an appointment for next week Friday, so I've got a week to decide what to do. My appointment is for a DevaCut-- it is a place that specializes in curly hair. Here are some inspiration photos I am really loving right now.

I don't know if your hair is quite as curly as hers but I love this blogger's hair. I've saved this inspiration picture on my Pinterest board, just in case my hair ever gets curly!! I'll include the link to her site too although it looks like she may have cut it shorter recently than in the picture I'm including. As for the pictures of you, I really love 3, 4 and 5. I know you said you're tired of this style so I think I'll let the more curly literate comments on shorter styles. :)
http://www.deluneblog.com/

I have very similar hair to yours, needs to air dry to get the best curl. That means washing it right after supper so I have the full evening, or first thing in the AM. Can you use a diffuser to obtain the same look?

I love your hair in #3. The length frames your face beautifully and shows off your jawline . Maybe add some bangs to change things up a bit? The shorter curlier styles look much better than the long style. Long is fine, but just not really a style!

Maybe throw in a few chunky blond highlights? That will change things without a different cut.

I'm really appreciating everyone's feedback! And I'm feeling super, super flattered so thank you everyone. I wish I weren't so tired of bobs because I love all the positive feedback I'm getting on those styles for me. I love Tania's suggestion of going short incrementally-- maybe with a little more time away from the bob I'll be ready to go back to it.

krishnidoux, I have always been drawn to 1920's hairstyles. Many of the ones I shared were the result of telling hairstylists that.

I don't have a cut appointment, but I'm going to see if I can possibly get one for today or another day soon.

If you cut your hair shorter than a bob, then expect to go back every six weeks, not 8.

You have the prettiest eyes, that any hairstylist would die to emphasis through a special cut. Also, your lovely round shape face is adorable, and admittedly, the bob length flatters it tremendously. I think the bob is fun also because of its versatility, allowing you to encourage/discourage the curls as your heart feels.

You could go for a layered bob, taking off some thickness, shaping it so there is more volume on the head but longer strands on the sides.

In pic 5, one could tell you would soooo suit a 1920s look too, even a longer 1920's bob. It would make for a very romantic, sexy, ingénue look on you, and would certainly make your fantastic eyes pop even more.

As for your scars, I recommend investigating in a laser treatment. There are some pretty good techniques out there right now, not as wallet breaking as one would think. Also, you could start a Retinol treatment, such as Stieva-A cream (prescription). It's worth looking into.

It's definitely possible to have a shorter curly cut without the wings, but it's a combination of the cut, the products you use to style it, and how you let it dry. You may need to find a hairstylist who knows how to work with curly hair who can cut it into the right shape. You could try a dry cut so that the curls were visible during the cut; that can help with preventing wings as well.

I agree with Tania that a consultation might be worth it before you get the cut, just to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that you trust the hairstylist... it can be hard to find a good one.

Oh my gosh, you are pretty! Such lovely eyes.

And I LOVE your hair as in #3! Is there a way of drying it with one of those diffusers so that you don't have to go out with it wet but it maintains the wave?

It is true that if it's shorter it requires more upkeep. You might have to get it cut every 6 weeks rather than 8. But in my view, the flattery is worth it!

You would also look fab in a shorter style but that definitely requires more cutting.

I have hair that has gone from straight to wavy/curly, depending on my stage of life, length. I also vacillate from growing it out to cutting it really short again and am a minimal hair maintenance gal, so here are my thoughts:

a) you've spent time growing it out. Do you want to shorten/layer it in such a way that encourages natural curls/waves but is still long enough to easily grow out (right above shoulder length but slightly longer than a bob, for example). It wouldn't be daring, but you could take it shorter every couple of months and incrementally make changes as you assess how you hair behaves and what you really want. Also, I find that a good cut takes minimal maintenance as long as it is a good layered cut. I just need to make sure to condition enough and not fuss too much. A bit shorter than you have would dry a bit faster.

b) when I kept my hair super short, I needed to cut it every 5-6 weeks max, or I would get fly-aways or q-tip head. The short hair was easy to maintain on a daily basis, but the frequency of the cuts was expensive (I lived near Boston at the time), and I had to have confidence in the person cutting my hair.

Hmm, I think I'd do a consult with a recommended hairstylist and take some of your idea photos and see what they say. Do you have someone you trust?

That being said, I think your curls are great and I can see why you like photo 6!

I think your hair looks great short! I wish my hair had body like that. Have you seen any ads or pictures of hair styles that you're leaning towards? I would suggest starting there and just trying to find something that feels right. Also, talk to your hairdresser. He or she may have ideas that you would have never thought of on your own. Good luck!

Ha ha ha! No hubs here! I'm a single lady who happened to include a photo with a ex-boyfriend in this post. He's gotten married (to someone else) since that photo was taken.

first, you have the most amazing eyes. i love that blue-gray-slate iris color and i do believe you match hubs.

how short are you willing to go? how about some ideas from pinterest? the one on meg ryan could be really fetching. long in front, super short in back like a modified pixie could be good.

10/25 ETA: Scroll down the thread-- I've added some haircuts I love and am considering in one of my replies below.

It's time to get out of my hair rut. For the past year and a half or so, I've just let my hair grow. I remodeled my kitchen and I skimped in this area to put more money toward that. Big bad confession-- I haven't even had a haircut since December and I know it shows. Resolution: I will get a haircut soon!

Considerations:

I have naturally wavy/curly hair. When my hair is short enough, adequately layered, and if the weather cooperates, my hair can be quite curly. Messy waves are more common.

I have been wearing my hair in a bob for most of the past decade and I'm tired of that look. This is in part why my hair is long now.

I don't spend much time on my hair and I doubt that will change.

Ideally I would go about 2 months between hair cuts.

I've always found short hair attractive.

If I'm wearing my hair wavy/curly, my hair looks so much better when I let it air dry instead of blow drying. But if I do this, reality means I show up at work with wet/damp hair. Not a huge issue but it doesn't feel super professional.

I have acne scars on both sides of my face and it is nice to be able to hide them behind my hair somewhat as I feel self-conscious about them.

A longer style is still an option but I am seriously considering going shorter.

Photographic Evidence:

Photos 1-5: A variety of photos from my bob days. These span the past decade, some some are quite old but they give you the idea.

Photo 6: I had a pixie cut for much of the decade preceding the bob and I love this photo from the admittedly awkward growing-out stage (see next photo to show how awkward that stage can get).

Photo 7: Embarrassing 8th Grade Photo Alert!!! Included to illustrate the wings that form if my hair is a certain length. Need to avoid this look. Fly away, hair wings-- Fly away!

Photo 8: My hair this past weekend.

Inspiration:
In part because I have a lot of photos here already and in part because I have no clue which direction I want to head, I'll include a link to the Pinterest board I'm using to collect inspiration photos. http://www.pinterest.com/vinta.....onderings/

I would love your thoughts on any of this!!
