I love my winter boots: http://www.endless.com/dp/B003.....B0033PS7DG

(Also available lots of other places online.) 100% waterproof, cozy, AWESOME traction even on thick ice, and I get compliments every time I wear 'em. Also they are super-comfy...the bottom part feels like wearing plushy sneakers. Highly recommend.

I've found the Blondo boots with the shearling inners to be the warmest I've ever owned. Much much warmer than Eddie Bauer or other such brands. I walk to and live in hockey arenas all winter long so warmth is dreadfully important. They are also very stable and you won't turn an ankle in them.

Last year I was in the same position as you are Sarah. Living in "real winter" place which is also a "Southwestern Ontario snow belt" means that I needed some serious winter boots. In addition to this I had my toes frost bitten when I was 19 and they easily go white and numb even when it is just below 0C.
I was looking for shearling boots and bought theseUggs:
http://www.zappos.com/ugg-broo.....te-leather
They are leather and have been waterproof so far. This was the first winter when my feet did no get numb and cold even once! I like these boots, they are a big bulky because of all these shearling inside but I don't think they look too bad at all.

I should be able to answer this, but I can't. I actually just wear summer-weight purple keen fabric hiking boots in the snow and never thought about them being cold, even during our -30s last year. I guess I am just used to my feet being numb, but maybe actual warm boots would help.

Bogs are awesome, but they won't work for you if you have narrow feet-- even my normal to narrow feet slopped around horribly.

I have a pair of Ulu shearling boots for cold weather and snow, sort of like these, only dark brown:

I wear Sorels at the dog park and they keep my feet very warm. They're too clunky for commuting on anything but the worst days though.

How about your socks? I find that wool socks really help, especially smart wool. I wear those, then run of the mill boots and I don't seem to have problems.

Have you looked at Le Canadienne?

I can't believe you're biking, good for you!!

I got the shorter ones to pull on for camping in the rain. These exact ones, to be precise:

http://www.amazon.com/Bogs-Wom.....B0022NHZG0

I have a taller pair of Uggs for high snow, or else I would have gotten the taller Bogs.

Thanks, AG - which Bogs did you get? Funny, I haven't looked at Sorels for years (still have my old 20-year old pair, which come out for sledding, etc.). I don't bother with the toe clips in winter...

Actually these Uggs haven't been too bad for letting in moisture because they have leather (rather than suede) "bottoms" (or whatever the opposite of "uppers" is).

Okay, now THIS I can address!

I have just gotten a pair of Bogs, which have not been winter-tested, but my 6 year old son has worn his for a year and a half. They are rainproof and warm to at least -20F. Also they pull on and off so no zipper to freeze shut.

Sorels has a ton of adorable styles out now, and some have removable liners that can be replaced.

My problem with most Uggs, although I LOVE them for comfort, is that they let wetness in. They are great in dry snow but not so much in slush and wet snow.

Are you biking with toe clips?

I live in Minnesota, and need some warm, stylish boots for winter (we're talking REAL winter - subzero temperatures, permanent snow cover). I try to ride my bike to work much of the winter which adds to the excitement (or at least to the need for really warm boots, along with warm everything else)! I keep lots of shoes in my office all winter so I can change when I get there, but I also like to have boots that are stylish enough that I can keep them on if I want to. For the past several years, I've worn the Ugg Brookfields, http://www.zappos.com/ugg-broo.....ate-dunlin, and they've actually been great - warm enough, more weatherproof than all-suede Uggs, and relatively stylish. However, I've worn them to death and they're no longer warm enough (the shearling has worn out to nothing in places). S, I'm thinking of either replacing them or getting something new altogether. What do you other ladies who reside in cold places wear on your feet in the winter time?
