A smidge longer than the second picture. Also my thighs fill out more of the leg.... But that is normal with jeans for me:)

Yay for Levi’s then! Are they shorter on the model then than on you? Since you will ask us about hemming?
It doesn’t help short people like me or even moderately tall ( to me anyway) people like you when the models are at least 5 foot 10 or often over 6 feet.

Well I had a spare 45 minutes yesterday and went and tried on a range of different styles.

In the end I purcased the Levis Ribcage Straight Ankle in a true mid blue denim. I am wearing them today and will add a photo later. I love them, but may hem a bit after the first wash, will see what the forum thinks.

I also tried the 501, the Levis slim straight, some flares (Rollie I think was the brand) and G Star Raw mid rise straight. The last were definitely a poor fit around my waist and butt, the others all fitted well.

I am now looking for wide leg or bootcut or flare jeans, probably in black or cream.... After trying on a wide range of jeans I definitely know my size in Levis so could feel confident buying online.

Viva - they didn't have the wedgie in my size, but the assistant suggested I try the 501 to see what I thought - I did like them but I preferred the fit of the ribcage straight. And the "grown up Charlie Angel" was a reference to my aspirational style moniker....(some days it is a long way out of reach....... it might suit you too, you can be Kate Jackson (Sabrina?).

This is the best comment ever and I totally agree with Brooklyn: I think a grown up Charlie’s Angel should have a pair of flares or bootcuts. YES.

I wrote earlier today about the Wedgie. In the style I tried the thighs were really accommodating. For my size I have quite healthy thighs, and they worked great and were not tight.

Sorry - suddenly things got a bit crazy at work (I had to review five staff last week which took a lot of time and energy!) and we passed an audit - yay!!

Stylefan - I think so too!

Angie - I think so - keen on some sailor style ones for summer, and maybe some classic but modern (I hope) bootcuts for winter.

Slimcat - I think that bootcut are more available than they have been for a few years. For work I agree - mid-dark wash blue or maybe black.... I hope I can source some (and hope you can too!)

Thank you Carla - I think we are on the same page. I do like levis and they tend to fit me well.

Smittie - I have browsed Zara but never purchased. I am scared to buy online because of the sizing issue though. And if I can find a trouser jean that would work well for me. I like the sturdiness of denim and most of my male colleagues wear jeans everyday...so it fits in well.

Thanks Bijou - sadly we don't have Uniqlo here. I would consider cords (would definitely take me back to my 70s and 80s roots...)

Janet - I wish Paige was more available here as their bootcuts look good. But there will be others. They would work with blazers for work.

Brooklyn - I haven't tried the wedgie but have considered them. but I wonder if they will be too tight in my thighs. I will check Zara out, they only have one shop here to try in store and I won't get there. Their erratic sizing scares me though. Yes Country Road can be good - but the ones I liked in shape weren't in the colours I wanted. Yes I am down to two pairs with one pair for very casual use/loungewear which is not enough. I like to have 4-5 pairs.

Fashintern - I do find mid wash easier to match with clothes, but dark wash can be more dressy for work. There is a specific mid wash blue that I love but it can be hard to find:)

Thanks Suntiger - hope I can find a pair.

Thanks Sally - I used to always head to Just Jeans but my last experience there was a bust. But I can easily try again and Levis are a reliable quality brand.

Jenni - thanks, I will check out Just Jeans as they are a short hop from home. I haven't tried NJDJ but whatever fits well will appeal to me.

Or a wide (but not overly wide) leg crop. You could wear it with a stylish boot or bootie for winter.

Brooklyn and Janet have spoken, you need flares!!!

These are not jeans but may be of interest to you because they are so 1970's (and come in some very nice earthy colours). I went to Uniqlo and found these Ines de la Fressange corduroy pants and love them. They are high waisted and flared and now on sale, a bargain at $50! I found they run big. I am a size Aus 8 and bought the 24 inch waist, when normally in jeans I take a size 26.

Sally, I’m in the same boat. I’m down to 3 pairs of jeans, not counting black. So I’ve been shopping.

I think a grown up Charlie’s Angel should have a pair of flares or bootcuts. I have a pair from Zara. They are close to a wide leg. They fit me so well I thought yay, I’ve found my brand of jeans! Jean problem solved forever. But every single pair I’ve tried since from Zara, in every single style (I think I’ve tried at least 6 different styles) has been a complete bust. Sizing all over the place. Still, might be worth a try if you have patience. They certainly have a big range.

Also tried Levi’s wedgie but they were really tight in every size I tried and looked horrible on me.

Also tried Topshop Editor straight leg jeans. Too tight and rigid.

Also tried Trenery boyfriend jeans. I liked them. They were nice and soft and stretchy. I did not buy them because they also fit me like a skinny. (I’m trying to get a relaxed fit! It’s a unicorn.)

Next I plan to try Trenery straight leg. Then Neuw and G Star (straight leg).

In the past I’ve had success with Country Road jeans but they have nothing that appeals to me right now. Worth a look, because I think the quality is good.

Levi’s? I like Just Jeans as a store, at least I used to have success for the teenagers and the hubby there.
For me, I am down to one pair of jeans only. Bought them 2017 with forum help, they are from a plus size store of all places. K and K, size 14 and called “butter denim”- just a marketing ploy, but they are soft and have worn so well, 83 wears since then.

Suddenly I am in need of some new jeans......

Currently I have two pairs that are working for me (both in finds)

- Garcia Dark Wash
- G Star mid wash - slight Mom style

On the way out are
- Nobody straight leg - may stay on for the rugby sideline with my gumboots and long park as they work with the boots. Suddenly they have gone.
- Country Road white jeans - going to cut off into shorts. The Waist fits well but the legs are all stretched out.

I donated my flares a month or so ago.

I need them mostly for work so not distressed or raw hem. Really open on style and colour except I don't want skinny jeans, and I don't love acid wash/very light denim wash on me. I mostly wear jeans in the transitional seasons and winter.

I was considering some ecru/cream wide leg jeans for spring, but haven't tried them on.

I will probably try and find them in NZ because of fit, transport issues etc.. Lots of US and Euro brands are available here although the names are sometimes different.

What do you see me in?
