Thank you, everyone, for all your help! Shiny, thank you especially for those detailed thoughts. You have such a discerning eye. I am 5'8" so definitely on the taller side.

I am trying to figure out a way to take photos from a more accurate angle, but my small apartment leaves me few options.

I'm going to return the grey cardi. I wore the brown one today with leggings and boots and a great necklace for a long day of travel followed by a pedicure and tea at a spa with my mom and sister and it was so comfy and easy. I felt fab. Dresses are so great for travel. I didn't have a chance to take pictures, though! Next time.

Hmm, interesting to compare.

The first set of pics are taken from an angle lower than you are, whereas the second set are taken about your height or tilted down. I am always suspicious about photos taken in a mirror - not all mirrors are accurate.

How tall are you (I forget?). If you are short, most people will be looking down at you; if you are tall, most people will be looking up at you.

Anyway... in the first set of pics, what I like about the grey cardi is that your legs look long, long, long - compared to the sweater dress. But that's why I said I'd have to see the sweater dress with tights. It's really hard to compare the two, when you're wearing the dress over jeans and with slippers.

The second set of pics are not as flattering. In those pics, the cardi looks much better wrapped and cinched to define the waist.

However - to my eye - in *both* set of pics there is something about the ruffles and how they lay at the neckline that actually minimizes your broad shoulder line. I know theoretically it shouldn't do this.... but for me, visually, it is doing just that, compared to the sweater dress.

Unfortunately in the second set of pics, the ruffles are somehow making you look wider below the waist - I'm not getting that effect in the first set, just the second set.

This is tough!!!

I would have to say: go with your gut on this one. If something feels not quite right, you're never going to wear this sweater, so it's not worth a dime.

P.s. I have a somewhat similar ruffly sweater cardi - in sage green - and I love the idea of it (very hourglassy and also quite cozy), but it definetly needs high heels and my flare jeans to balance it all out. And, with all the snow on the ground lately, it's not like I've had any occasions to wear heels!! So the sweater remains unworn. I do think I *will* wear it before winter is over... but I am thinking more and more I will not get the amount of wear out of it I had hoped.

I like them both, but side by side I think the wider sleeves on the sweater dress seems to balance your shoulders more. The grey ruffles don't have a similar feature, so your shoulders appear broader in comaprison. The ruffles don't seem really bulky to me, and I don't think they add extra width to your shoulders, it just seems that way in comparison, if that makes sense.

Tarzy, I don't think I do love it. I want to love it, and I love the idea of it, but something seems off. I think it's that the ruffles are too "thick" and the shoulder line is not ideal.

I can't keep both and get Docs too anytime soon!

I don't love the grey one. To me, that's a lot of ruffle going on. I think I like you in a sleeker look (or maybe a smaller ruffle?) But of course, that's a personal thing. Do you love it?

Love the sweater dress and the cardi. I wonder what the cardi would be like with a belt that buckles. I think you could do a lot with it. However when you say return and use the money for Docs or a bright handbag, that is very tempting because those 2 items make quite a lot of impact on a look. Tough decision. Can you keep both and also get Docs and a handbag?

I just added some more photos of the grey cardi in better light/from a different angle if that helps. They start here:
http://s380.photobucket.com/al.....G_6352.jpg

Taking photos is so helpful for me--it's like it gives me an instantly more objective eye. And then all the helpful advice here on YLF makes it 1000 times better.

I'm wondering if it might be better to return this grey sweater and put the $ towards silver Docs or a bright handbag.

I don't have to pick--I can keep both if I want. My main concern with the ruffle cardi is that the ruffles may be too bulky or, as Angie said, accentuate the shoulder line too much. It's a pricey sweater so I don't want to keep it if it's not killer.

Interesting - I am with yublock - I prefer the grey cardi as well! I think I would have to see the sweater dress with leggings and probably heels too - my imagination is not that good!

But meanwhile the grey cardi - there is something that is simply scrumptious to me about it.

I really can't see the details of the sweater dress too well on my screen since the colours are so dark, but the sleeves look floppy to me. Is it meant to be like that? I think I am averse to floppy sleeves, cos I seem to be commenting on that a lot. Maybe it is just me!!! If you had to pick one (do you?) I prefer the grey cardi!

I like the dress best too. It complements your strong shoulder line. The grey seems to accentuate your shoulder line a little too much, but that might be the camera angle. My preference is definitely for the tunic. Will look great with leggings and boots

I really like the sweater dress. I think it would be perfect with tights and boots. The ruffle cardi is very nice, too but perhaps you should play around a little bit more with how you're going to tie the belt.In the first picture it looks a little bulky in the front. But this is a very festive cardi, which would look great with many different color camis underneath.

I am trying to decide about these 2 sweaters I bought. I had to return my GAP boyfriends (grey and pink) because they pilled like crazy if I so much as looked at them. So sad! They were so soft!

In their place, I got a chocolate brown kimono-sleeve wrap sweater dress, and a grey cashmere ruffled cardi. I'd love some feedback before I leave tomorrow morning for the holidays at home--if they're keepers I'll pack 'em!

So, keep or return? Here they are:

http://s380.photobucket.com/al.....2022%2008/

In the image, the bump/wrinkle/bulge on the sweater dress just below the tie is from the belt I'm wearing under my skinnies, which I'd normally not do. I was in a rush. It fits smoothly over tights.

Thank you!
