Following with interest! Universal Standard’s jeans sound great.

FWIW, Madewell jeans have worked for me. I have one pair of their curvy fit high rise skinnies, which give me generous room in the thighs where I need it most (my rear is on the flatter side). I know not everyone finds them to be curvy enough, but definitely worth a try.

I like Vince Camuto’s stretchy midi pencil skirts, which you may have seen. Really comfy and versatile.

Looking forward to seeing what you find!

i find that some of the KUT that are 99% cotton work as they dont stretch and fall down.
i personally dont like ON - too cheaply made for my taste.
i got a pair of EF split hem on clearance from garnet hill that work fabulously!

i look for well made brand names at 2nd hand stores - i find that older jeans (with a modern cut) are better made than some newer ones. imho

Oh my word! How could I forget :(

I JUST helped dress a very curvy pretty pear shaped client at the Universal Standard Showroom in Seattle, and their bootcuts are the BOMB!

https://www.universalstandard......ark-indigo

But all their jeans are great on curvy figures.

Liz I forgot about JCP! I did visit their store this summer. Loved the athletic leggings I found. Unfortunately it was slim pickings as it the store was closing and had been picked over. But I’ll try them online and see what I can find.

Lynn That’s also an issue for me, as I have a flat tummy. I’m longer waisted so a longer rise doesn’t bother me. It’s usually ON that gets me because it seems they cut it wider in the lower part of the rise causing fabric to pool. That said 6 or so years back I had a tall curvy cut from Talbots in dress pants; I also had fabric pooling in the lower stomach/crotch as well. Thank you for all of your great recommendations! I’ve never heard of JAG brand, so will take a look. I will def try a 12W if I find one! (It’s an elusive size it seems.)

My shape is similar to you although I am shorter. In addition, I also have a relative flat belly for my size so I need a shorter front rise than a lot of "larger" sizes are cut for. I am currently a size 16W or 18 but used to be a 12/14. Here are the brands that have worked for me:

Best overall: Ann Taylor Loft Plus Size & Eddie Bauer Curvy Fit. Talbots are OK but the first two fit me better in the front rise.

Charter Club @ Macy's & St John's Bay @ JC Penny tend to fit well but the quality of the denim varies.

JAG Norahs fit well when I was a 12/14 but I have not tried them @ my larger size.

Chico's and NYDJ fit my backside well but are too long in the front rise for me so fabric pools @ the lower front crotch, NOT a good look. Talbot's jeans used to do this but their newer jeans seem better.

BTW I sometimes found that a 12W if I could find them would fit better than a straight 14 when I was a lower weight. It would accommodate my fuller bottom much better.

Hope that helps. Good Luck in your jeans quest.

Angie I had forgotten about NYDJ. Kut is a new one to me.

Gigi I never considered J.Crew or Madewell. JCrew was always cut so narrow and never fit me. But I'm glad to hear they've started doing curvier cuts.

Jess and Jules didn't know that about AE! I used to buy their jeans but they were always abit narrow cut for me and I never repurchased. I'm glad they have curvy cuts now. I always liked how soft their denim was. i'll check them out.

Laura I saw that last night when perusing Talbots. I usually am okay with 32" imseam unless I'm wearing a heel. Then I really need a tall. Violeta and Universal Standards are new to me. Checking them out!

Thank you all for the great suggestions!!! I feel really encouraged there are good curvy options out there. Super bummed. Loft had 40% off their new high-waisted, tall curvy trousers. Waited until this morning to purchase, only to discover they had discontinued it already I'll have to keep an eye out so I can snag a pair before they sell out.

Funny enough, I have a pair of Old Navy curvy cut skinnies. Fine for everyday use, cleaning house, etc. But there is extra fabric where my thigh creases next to crotch. And the back pocket spacing feels a bit off in proportion for my wider hips. I also still get some horizontal back of thigh creases if they are freshly washed.. I probably sound super picky, but those are things that have always been issues for me with ON jeans, including curvy cuts.

And oh yeah, about lengths: Talbots is great but recently they have not been doing tall lengths in their curvy cut, just in the regular. AT and Loft tall curvy is only online and sells out fast, but at least it exists. If you’re a cusp size you could try Universal Standard or Violeta from Mango.

Second American Eagle, they have a curvy cut in several styles and a range of lengths including long and extra long. The curvy cut fits my daughter well in a few styles but so does the 90s boyfriend jean. I suggest ordering multiple styles/sizes for try on when they have a promotion.

Madewell and J.Crew now both offer curvy cuts...and they have tall inseams too. Free People also has a curvy line (CRVY), and I find their inseams to be generous. The Free People jeans that I have tried have been really comfy.

I have tried some Kut from the Kloth and found them not accommodating enough for my booty. BUT I saw somewhere (Nordies maybe?) that Kut has a few curvy cuts now.

kkard and Angie I didn't consider Talbots or Loft at all! So glad you mentioned those.

nemosmom NR has Good American jeans? Wow didn't even think of them. I don't live super close but might be worth at least trying ine day. I also thought of buying one pair to try and then returning them so I could just see how they fit me before buying from Poshmark or eBay.

mntsofthemoon great name , btw! I never got into BR. I know they were extremely popular though. I bought a henley of theirs from a consignment shop. It soesn't fit quite right in shoulders but it is otherwise very, very comfortable and nice cut. I'm going to check Loft and Talbots rught away for some pants!

I can vouch for Loft Curvy Fit. I have many pairs. Similar to you I have a small waist and full, round bottom. I have not tried Talbots but may check them out. Thanks Kkards. Good luck to you Keturah.

FWIW I use to be a die hard BR gal when they had the "Camdeon"(prob 10 - 12 years ago) and "Jackson" ( 6 or more years ago) fits that worked well for me, but the past several years I have not have the luck I use to there. I think AT also has curvy fit pants/jeans, but my local store closed so I have not purchased a pair in quite some time.

My dear Fabbers, I need your help.

I have reached an impasse with clothing. My usual haunts such as Target and Old Navy have left me wanting. The thing is, I'm curvy and tall and tend towards the upper size range. So I just don't know where to start looking. And shopping with a toddler st places like Nordstroms feels daunting to me. I don’t even know what to try or look for beyond general leg cut. So I really could use your recommendations, encouragement, and maybe some hand holding.

Angie recommended the Good American jeans company for curvy skinny cut jeans. I am still looking for the right pair to purchase on eBay. But they do look to fit the bill!! So I am hoping to get a pair soon. Mostly too, I was getting through summer in dresses. With cold weather approaching I need something warmer than lightweight rayon dresses.

I am loving and feeling more at home in romantic, womanly styles, a la Christina Hendricks and Nigella Lawson. Here is what I need:

I am 5-foot, 10-inches tall. Moderately full bottom, full thighs and hips, and small waist. I have wider shoulders, moderate 38C bust. Usually wear a size US 14 or 16 in bottoms (curvy cuts in size 14 for sure) and size 12-14, L or XL on top.

I'm looking for...

Pants and jeans, especially high waister. I love skinny leg, but also am into full, wide leg and bootcut again lately. The lower waists aren't working for me due to wearing more fitted, shorter sweaters.

Couple tops or blouses

A good skirt or two in a circle or pencil shape

I would prefer it be fairly mommy friendly, i.e., no special care silk or $500 designer labels.

I know some of you sew. I really desire to sew myself and am planning to try a few things this winter. (I have knit for many years and have sewn a little before, so I am up for the challenge.) But as it is, I am down to very little clothing. Not just clothing that fits, but actual clothing. My general hourglass shape has remained. But my body has changed remarkable since having my son, doing physical therapy, and getting into shape again. Almost nothing fits. Blouses that fit okay last year suddenly look frumpy and huge on me this year. I also finally got rid of clothes that were 5-6 years old and worn to death or didn't fit well anymore.

I also need shoes but will post separately later for that.

Biggest xo and thanks for your help!
