Another vote for Halfinger . I have the ones with cork and rubber sole, which is good so I can take the recycling out.

Have you tried a comfy sneaker worn unlaced? The tops of my feet cannot take pressure but undone laces tucked into the side works for many sneakers and oxfords ( or remove the laces if the shoes will still stay on your feet.)
Another brand to try Fit Flops. I don't own them but tried some on at The Rack. They make a comfortable shoe.

Ditto the Haflinger slippers with soft sole...so comfy. They are my indoor scuffs. The harder sole version wasn't as comfortable for me.

Clogs seem like the natural choice for me, since I loved them in my youth and they're so easy to slip on/off. I just have to make sure the heel is higher up (because they often seem like the whole footbed is raised up, like a platform shoe).

Joy, I learned yesterday in my dance lesson that a flat such as the ones you suggested are going to be a problem for me. The heel is cut so low, that once the insert is, um, inserted my heel is almost popping out in back. I'm going to need another shoe for tango now (for the leader/"man's" part, anyway--it's normally a flat shoe). I'm being recommended a dance sneaker, and have traditionally found them way too narrow...ugh....but that's an entirely different problem.

Thanks again, everyone! I'll start checking these all out.

I love Sorel slippers. These have a low heel back and so don't feel as constricting as a full shoe to me,

I have some flats that are designated indoor shoes . Do loafer styles with a high vamp irritate your feet? In Finds are a couple of my indoor shoes. Not slippers but very comfortable. The Taryn Rose ballet flats are available in other colors right now. I am tempted to duplicate.

My husband bought me these because I need to always wear something now, after breaking toes/surgery last year. I always preferred to be barefoot. But I like these now! They do fit me loosely in my regular size. I've not had them fall off or trip though.

Otz espadrilles might work for this. They have a contoured footbed (Birkenstock-type) with an elevated heel or you can remove it and use your insert. They are very minimal otherwise and have a heavenly wide toebox.

Thanks, everybody! These are all great.

To be clear, the shoe can either have a heel or be able to take the insert.

My favorite Naots have enough of a lift that I think they would work for you. Although I generally go barefoot, I wear an old pair of these in the summer if I have to do something like stand in the kitchen for hours cooking. Anything in the "elegant collection" will have the slight wedge like the one in the find below. Only thing is they run narrow.

I have the halflinger scuffs (like the doggy pair Ryce linked) as well, and they have arch support but they don't feel like they have much heel lift to me.

ETA: Dansko or Sanita clogs also have the heel lift you need, if they fit you (they tend to be too high volume and are actually a tripping hazard for me!)

For years I have worn the Haflinger wool slippers - I really like the pair with the dog on them, in winter and them switch to a pair of "indoors only" Merrell sandals when it gets hot.

This year, I switched to Haflinger clogs so I can step outside in them occasionally without worrying about the soles getting wet. I like them, too.

My husband, who has a lot of foot problems, swears by Vionic sandals for around the house.

I was just told I have bone spurs on both feet (not the heels: the tops of the feet toward where they flex). To decrease stress the doc wants me always in a slight heel and no bare feet. I just picked up some inserts with a very slight heel of a little under .5".

We have always had the Japanese-style setup of no shoes in the house. I have some slippers but they're pretty loose. I rarely wear them unless I'm really cold. I suppose I could wear a shoe that's dedicated to home wear but I'd love it to be comfy and not feel too constricting...I love shoes but really love being barefoot too.

Insert measures about 4.5" x 2.25"

Any ideas? Thank you....
