each of my bags is pre-stocked with...
feminine products
lipstick
mints
pen
most, but not all have a little travel size lotion

all I have to transfer is my wallet really. My phone is usually laying around the house somewhere and my keys hang on a hook by the back door.

I typically will move stuff from one bag on a weekly basis...I'm obsessed by bags...love them madly. For everyday, I use a tote as it will hold pretty much everything. While I have not found "The PERFECT" bag yet, the tote seems to be a good stand-in.

If you could have the perfect bag, what would it consist of to work for you? You mention an iPad, so a tote or bike messenger style bag may be the way to go.

Yeah, I move my stuff but I carry as little as possible. Sometimes, with two straps, if you move the outer strap under the inner strap it can be enough to keep it on your shoulder. Also, because I also have the problem, a thicker garment - winter coat - can help. As well, sometimes the weight of the stuff helps to keep it on. Since I like my bags as light as possible, I don't usually want this option.

They usually give dimensions for bags. Figure out the measurements of your IPad and add some for ease or check the dimensions of a bag it fits in now.

For me, the style terms for bags are fast and loose. I am always thinking, 'How is this a satchel?"

Do all the bag names ("satchel" "hobo" "shopper" etc.) correspond with specific sizes and other characteristics? i.e., if I buy a "shopper" will it always be the same size as another "shopper"? Or do the names indicate the type of strap? Which kind of bag is big enough to hold, say, an iPad?

And does anyone have a bag that actually stays on their shoulder while they shop? (Mine will hang on my shoulder, but it repeatedly falls off as I'm trying to put children in carts, re-hang clothes on hangers, unbuckle seat belts, etc.) For all you multi-bag-ladies, do you move all your stuff from one bag to another? Every day?
