I’m more into statement rings, and I wear earrings every day, so sometimes a necklace along with that, plus my glasses, etc, just feels a little over-accessorized. I’m not really worried about trends. A lot of my necklaces are vintage or custom made Etsy items. </p> <p>But, I would say I’m opting for shorter necklaces more than long necklaces these days. And I think that’s related to the trend for shorter tops and waist defining looks. But what there is is following the same trends as other jewelry, which is trending towards larger, more noticeable, statement-type jewelry. Fine and subtle was the trend for a long while, but trends seem to be moving in the opposite direction. Oh, and while this is common in the summertime, color in jewelry is also trending.</p> <p>All that said, I am a big believer in you doing you as far as jewelry is concerned. Jewelry seems to me to be an even more intimate expression of self than clothing sometimes, and there is nothing I love more than someone willing to rock their thing despite what is expected or trending. Jewelry, especially if it is genuine precious metals and stones, simply can't be changed as the wind blows for most people, nor should it be. Wear what is meaningful or best for yourself and don't worry about what's trending.
