Abby, I started using AmLactin a couple of months ago after seeing it mentioned somewhere. It does great things for my feet.

My toes point different directions (bunions) and I try to keep them neat, but I'm not going to give up sandals. My feet suffer enough in shoes. For dressier occasions I do keep them covered in shoes.

My dermatologist recommended AmLacTin lotion to smooth my feet. It works like a dream. I had painful cracking on my heels and sides of my feet and toes. About three weeks with the AmLacTin lotion and my skin there became smooth and soft. I maintain it two or three times a week. When I get a pedicure now, my tech does not even bother to scrub or buff, my heels and toes are so soft and pretty already. It is sling backs and hose (and no snags!) for me now. AmLacTin is available without a prescription at any retail pharmacy in the USA.

It seems you aren't in the minority @April & @Pouty - apparently GenZ is firmly against showing toes, & would rather wear socks with their slides lol.

I lotion my feet when needed but, with summer lasting 6+ months over here, I think me wearing closed toe shoes in subtropical humidity would make everyone else around me uncomfy lol!

I do my own pedicure as well for 2 reasons.
1. Like you I am ticklish
2. I use it as a proof of my flexibility as I got older.
I appreciate that some people need a help, either a podiatrist or nail salon.

I do my own pedicures because the soles of my feet are very very ticklish. It’s said that you can’t tickle yourself, and I know that’s true, because someone else scrubbing my soles is sheer torture for me.

I am with you too. Fly Lady said to wear shoes each day and to apply lotion to feet before putting on socks for soft feet. I do this especially in winter when the air is extra dry and I wear socks. It also is helpful with diabetic feet.

A- I’m on the same page as you when it comes to visible toes, even if they’re well groomed. I get grossed out by seeing someone with ugly, unkempt toenails wearing open toe shoes. I also get grossed out when I see someone with rough, dry, calloused heels wearing sling backs. If anyone wears sling backs or open toe shoes, she should take the time to make sure that her toes and heels are well groomed.

P - I'm with you on the cracked-heel-prevention and the closed-toe shoes, always.

Something in me just does not appreciate visible toes, whether neatly pedicured or not. Minority opinion, for sure.

I like to keep my feet looking presentable. I apply a small amount of foot cream to my feet daily so my soles don’t get rough and dry. I pay special attention to my heels because my heels get rough and calloused rather quickly, and I get those painful dry cracks on the edges of my heels. I also use a pumice stone twice a week to keep my heels smooth. Although I keep my toenails neatly trimmed, I don’t apply nail polish to them because I always wear closed toe shoes. Neat feet, happy feet.
