Shannon, I've missed this discussion, sorry about that. I just wanted to say that I think you look fab in all of these iterations - and I really liked the shoulders and the double breasted style on you. Fingers crossed for a new version that ticks ALL the boxes!

Interesting to read through this. I really liked the way this looked with both of your dresses. But I guess I still have to learn a few things as far as fit goes. (To me it looked great in the shoulders and as for the length, as long as the length was not unflattering, I thought it worked. Unflattering as in ending on the widest part of you which is 90% of the time my problem with tops and jackets.)

I have very much appreciated all input into this discussion - even when it wasn't really what I wanted to hear - lol!

I asked Angie on a separate thread this morning what she thought http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....?replies=5 and those of you who felt the fit and/or style was "off" can congratulate yourself for being on the same page as our wonderful style leader :)

So as much as it pains me (primarily 'cause I hate to admit when I'm wrong - lol!), I will send the jacket off to consignment. I actually have some monies coming to me from the sale of some other items so will possibly use that to find my perfect navy blazer.

Thanks again everyone.

Oh, and I do like the idea of switching out the buttons if you keep. It might just be the photos, but the buttons look kind of dark and flat, which is a dated look. Some carefully chosen muted metallic buttons could be nice. I have given a few things new life with a change of buttons!

Janet makes a lot of sense. Your pleasure in it may be related to factors other than the appearance. And also -- it is OKAY to have sugar eye for some things -- and the fact that so-and-so doesn't like it is not a reason to reject it. You might have a poison eye for something so-and-so loves. You know?

Example -- my floral blazer from Zara. Tons of people hated it. Some even felt it didn't fit my style. Well, I wore it constantly all spring and early summer and loved it. And got ten million compliments on it, too.

To my eye, it's not bad. It's a little retro, perhaps, but everything you're wearing with it is quite current, which helps keep you from looking like you shopped your 1990 closet.

I find that when opinion is so divided, I tend to go with my original gut feeling. How do you feel in this? Are you eager to wear it?

Shannon, I feel bad saying this, but I am not loving it:(. There is something that makes me feel it's just a bit off. Looking at it again, it's the boxyness and the length...it is looking dated to me.

Wow - talk about a divided opinion!
I will say that my happiness factor is pretty high when I put this jacket on but is that enough to warrant keeping it? Do I have so much of a sugar eye for this style that it blinds my objectivity? Or is this one of those times where I say "to heck with it" and wear it and rock it?

Need to do more thinking on it...tomorrow. Good night my Fabbers!

Ok, now that I've had a day to let it sink in and take my poison eye out of the equation for a moment... I still sort of think that between the strong shoulder, the double breast buttons, and the nipped waist, it sort of looks like it has been in your closet since the 80s. Sorry to be a big ol' wet blanket, especially since the other ladies love it. Took me another look to realize, but it's more than just the shoulder pads. *runs away with tail between legs*

I agree with Suz - if you love it keep it. It isn't a huge outlay :) For the record I keep imagining these outfits with a great fitting "shaped at the waist: navy blazer or tuxedo shape also with fitting at the waist. Just my take Again, loving it out-weighs anything I might say

I keep coming back to hem and haw, Shannon. I need to think on this.

In the end, I say this: if the happiness factor is high and the price is low, what is to lose? You need a navy blazer, correct? And don't have a lot of pennies now to spend. So if it works for your purposes, then can it be a holder for now?

I really like it in #12. I think it's at its very best with the tapered but not super slouchy jean. Makes an IT triangle shape overall that I find appealing.

I missed the first post, Shannon, but these looks are nice. It seems like a perfectly fine blazer, so maybe it would be worth it to hold onto it.

If you decide to keep it, would you consider replacing the buttons with something more exciting? Maybe it's the lighting, but the buttons seem very dark. It would be an easy fix to change them out.

You did a great job styling it! I like it with the pants much better than with the dresses. I do like your other blazers better than this one, but it does fit well. Do you have any other double breasted blazers? If not, it might be a nice style option for you.

I adore the shoulder line --- strong and structured, but not exaggerated. I like it best in 4 & 12. These outfits give a little tip of the hat to the 90's in a cool way, but are modern and classic. I'm not crazy about the straight hem line in front with the dresses -- I like a curved bottom hem in front a little better with those, but I'm being picky.

What's the happiness factor?

I really like it with the jeans, bot pair, rather then the dresses.

My IT self immediately sees the shoulders but that is me, not you. If you love it and will wear it, you have styled it well. And we are still going to make mistakes so don't feel bad if the glow wears off, but hopefully it will be a workhorse!
