I think you look great in navy. Honestly, I think the lighter blue is so much more aging than the darker one. I think I have that scarf... is it BR? I tie the ends together to make an infinity loop and then just wear it huge in a big double loop around my neck.

I like the navy and black outfit on you, and the scarf adds texture and interest. With a button front shirt, I might try a different scarf tie--something with the tails hanging down on the sides, to show the collar and front of the blouse, maybe?
I also like your light blue and gray outfit.
Your cat is too cute, posing atop the washer.

Bettycrocker - it's been suggested by Angie that I try navy blue since it would probably look good on me. Also it goes well with the greys, blacks, and whites that I like to wear. I decided to test it out without making a big commitment.

Aida-new specs are definitely on the list. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with these for the next few days.

Doona - Thanks for all the scarf tying tips. I need to bookmark that page.

Ruth M - Great idea to chop off the bottom of the scarf. It seems to be a raw edge so should be easy to modify.

Sara, you and I can hide in the corner together and chat about how we're the only ones who don't like wearing navy even though it's a good color for us. I make myself wear it occasionally too. I do rather like inkier or brighter shades myself. The light soft blue looks great paired with the sharp black and white. I would have to second the thought up getting a specs update

You look great in both shades of blue! I think you were smart to try navy inexpensively first. Now you can decide if you want to add more pieces.

I think you look good in navy - smart to thrift it to tryout. The light blue and grey outfit is terrific! The scarf really complements it. RuthM's tips are good to alter the scarf. Also, Harmonica posted this link of "25 ways to wear a scarf" which might be helpful:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LYAEz777AU

Sara L, sensible idea to try navy out in an inexpensive / thrifted item first. I'm glad it's growing on you, because in my opinion you look really good in this shade.

#2 - Light blue really suits you as well. I love the colour combination with grey and white.

I don't know what fabric your scarf is made of, but if it's a fabric which doesn't unravel, or is not too slippery (such as silk), maybe you could chop a few inches off and re-hem roughly, so that the ends of the scarf don't fall below the hem of your sweater? You could even chop the ends off diagonally, which would visually reduce the bulk at the ends by tapering. Hope this makes sense.

I actually really love the navy on you! I think the experiment is a success!

For the scarf in #2, would using a European loop (I think that's what it's called) work?

I bought a silk navy BR top at the thrift store last weekend. Navy is not one of my favorite colors. In fact, I have something of a poison eye for navy, although I know it's a favorite of many of the forum members. The color has been slowly growing on me, but I didn't want to pay too much for a top I might never wear. The thrift store find is perfect so I can experiment without feeling guilty if it doesn't work out.

#1 - New navy top, black jeans and new scarf.

#2 - Grey and blue outfit inspired by Angie's post. I love the idea of light blue, grey and white but I'm having a hard time actually putting any outfits together. The scarf is kind of crazy but if I wear it doubled to make it shorter, it's really bulky around my neck. I need to figure out a better tie to try to reduce some of its bulk.

I'm wearing glasses because I have some sort of eye infection - not pink eye or anything contagious. I rarely wear my glasses so haven't updated them in years and years. I'm realizing now that I really need a new pair of frames so that if I get stuck wearing them again, they aren't so frumpy.

Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.
