Years ago, when this happened to a pair of my boot heels, the cobbler repaired them and put on a clear protectant cover.

Oh, I’ve had this happen before with covered heels on pumps and boots. It’s frustrating and part of why I now prefer heels that are not covered in that soft leather. I hope you can fix them.

Oh bummer. I have some dressy shoes that have the heels a little bit beat up. It does seem to be a danger with a leather covered heel. Hope you can fix it!

I used to wear heels all the time and it was not unusual for them to get scarred up in this way. Fortunately they can be smoothed, glued and cleaned up.

Oh thank you all! This is so very helpful. I guess I've never had heels that are covered like this before. I'll see what cobbler can do although I fear it will cost more than the boots. Crazy glue and patience might be the best option . Appreciate all of your solutions and wisdom ... I've learned something new so that is a good consolation!

Helena, a good cobbler can fix it perfectly. I commented in Angie's post about kitten heels that I do not wear them because they can easily get stuck in cobblestone pavings. Ask me how I know! Many years ago (I was young and naive) I wore a beautiful pair of red kitten heel shoes to go visit an ancient town with a friend ... go figure. I returned home with the heels completely ruined, but my super cobbler fixed them in an impeccable way.

Sorry to see. I have an old pair of kitten heel Ferragamo ankle boots and the heels are plastic (or some other none leather material). At first I was surprised that such a high quality brand had plastic heels but have since realized how smart it is.

Yes -- too bad! But it can definitely be improved.

My beloved Ecco cream boots have some damage of that kind on the inside of the heel. Am going to try to repair as well as I can because they are such great boots!

That can happen, unfortunately - to any leather heel. Driving can cause that too. Sorry, Helena! URGHH! :(

Cobbler can absolutely take the edge off. Make it look much better than it does. Good luck!

Happened to me a lot back in the day when I wore narrow, leather covered high heels. As Carla and others mentioned, it’s an easy do-it-yourself fix with some careful stretching out of the torn piece, crazy glue and pressing the repair out neatly in all directions.

I’ve had that happen, too. Like Carla, I was able to fix it myself. Re driving: with dirt and grit on the floor mats, I’ve found driving to scratch up my shoes a surprising amount.

Oooh so glad I posted ... I'll see if the cobbler can glue it! I will also try to avoid covered heels in future. I've never had this happen before and these do not get hard wear so the only thing I can think is from driving ... Which I feel should not damage a shoe lol

Something like this has happened to me when a heel got caught in a steel grate. I was able to press/smooth the leather out and crazy glue it down successfully.

Cobbles, bricks, uneven pavement, steel grates - can be hard on footwear. I now understand why people have ‘driving shoes’ like the Todd’s. The right outside heel of my footwear seems to see extra wear and tear from using the gas peddle.

Sorry that happened to your boots. It looks like the heel got caught in something, that happens to me a lot with that type of heel. I think/hope your cobbler can repair that heel for you, stretching the wrinkled part and glueing together.

Hi all, I was about to post about my Naturalizer kitten heel booties yesterday when I realized the heel is peeling!! Sadly I don't think this is fixable I will still wear these when my pants legs will keep it from being too noticeable. Just sharing as I had recommended these boots when I first bought them ... Buyer beware I'm afraid, and a lesson learned for me in evaluating quality.
