Thanks, Marlene. Wearing the cardi over the tucked-in top is the missing variable. That’s what will make the look work if you’re short-waisted. I hope that makes sense.

Maya, Thanks for posting the polyvore link - seeing is believing, and that image makes it really clear. I hope that there will be clearer views of the individual pieces of that outfit when the sale is posted.

I am 5 feet, 5 inches, slim but no waist, and I would wear heels with the outfit - probably mary janes with a heel.

I am also a rectangle that is slightly shortwaisted. I don't think I could get away with wearing the skirt with a tucked shirt (since it does look high-waisted), but I think you could get away with wearing a banded top or something similar, untucked. Is there any way for you to try it? Or you could order the outfit and return the skirt if it doesn't work

I don't remember the outfit, but I don't believe that you have to tuck something just because it is high-waisted. I never tuck but I still wear lots of high waisted skirts. This Polyvore image by Imogen gives a great visual that I have found to be very accurate. Unless you're one of the few short-waisted people who has a defined waist (which you probably don't since you are a rectangle), I would not tuck.

Ack I forgot the link:

I love the Trina Turk outfit (cardigan, blouse, pencil skirt) on p. 21 of the NAS catalog. I love the way the pieces work together and I think they could be split up and work with a variety of other separates. Angie looked great in the cardigan.

My question: I am really short-waisted and skirt looks very high-waisted. Do you think the skirt would work on a short-waisted racy rectangle? I generally do not tuck. Thanks for the help.
