Chris- I grew up slightly north of Boston and thought there were 4 seasons--and then I move to the mid-Atlantic area--where we really have 4 seasons of equal length. Boston has fall which is 2 months, winter which is 5, spring which is 3, and summer which is 2.
The coat is fabulous-- and sometimes the heart needs what the heart wants!

Ugh, I hate seeing winter coats - it's TOO SOON. Haha anyway, I love the collar on this and such a great color. I do the same thing when shopping, second guess myself, but I do think sometimes you just need to go for it. I live in Michigan and I know what a difference it makes if you feel good in your coat. Huge!

I don't think it looks too wide in the shoulders. The new pictures look great. I LOVE IT. I don't think you want the buttons tighter. But as always, these are just my opinions and I am no expert.

Aquamarine, you are so right that we need more coats in a colder climate.

gryffin, you are spot on that coats are the thing that is visible to the world in colder months. In my climate I'd probably wear this very warm coat for at least 4 months.

Joy, such wise words!

Style Fan I'm about an hour west of Boston. We do have four seasons and each is about 3 months long give or take, although winter always seems the longest.

Mainelady I totally agree, coats and boots are the first things people see in the winter months in colder areas.

I took a few more photos this morning and am worndering if this is just a tiny bit too wide in the shoulders, There is a fine line between the "slightly oversized cut" that this coat is and just too big. Maybe I'm just not used to the slightly oversized feel of the fur collar. The next size down is not availalbe, but I may check back a bit.

In the two new photos I folded the sleeves up to simulate shortening them which looks much better. #3 is buttoned up #2 is a little tighter as if I had moved the buttons IN a bit, that looks better too I think.

With the minor alterations already mentioned, that coat is a keeper. I agree that for those of us living in colder climates, coats and boots are essentials and having multiples is important.
Our winter wear is often our first impression look, so it matters. Wearing your new coat will make a warm and cozy stylish first impression!

Please treat yourself to this lovely coat. It looks great on you and you need it for your long winters. Griffin is right. More people will see you in your coat than your outfits, so it needs to make you happy.

Chris - for those of us who live in a 4 season climate, a coat is often the main thing everyone sees. No matter how fabulous your outfit is, if your coat does not make you feel fab, it's not a good feeling. And winter is long!!! If this is the piece, that when you put it on you feel like a million bucks, then it priceless!! And it looks wonderful on you. Enjoy it!!

It has potential! I agree completely with Angie. Those of us in colder climates need several coats/jackets. We wear them constantly for 6-7 months. Which is how I am justifying ordering the Pendleton toggle coat that looks so good on Scarlet and just came back in stock in several sizes...:-)

Thanks Jaileen. This was the only coat on the rack, and I loved the color so I didn't evern think about looking online to see if there were other colors.

Thanks Banoffi, I agree it works well with my hair.

Murph11 I too love camel with grey, I always think of it as Armani colors.

Tbanks Scarlet...and I do need to consider the questions Angie raised.

I agree Style Fan! I actually don't live in Maine, although I spend a lot of time there. I live in Mass. The same "coats don't need to be counted" applies to both states, and I would think it also applies to your region of Canada.

Does that caramel color look as perfect on you IRL as I think it does? You have to get it because you aren't likely to find another, especially one with a furry color.

What is *reasonable* is not actively looking for a coat in 2018.

Gorgeous coat!! I agree with Angie, the sleeves need to be a little shorter.

I love the colour and shape though.

And I think if you love a piece truly you will get lots of wear from it. Coats last a long time, you live in a cold climate, and a bit of variety is helpful. I say this as someone who is a moderate shopper - but every now and then we have to seize the moment when the perfect piece comes along.

You live in MA. We don't count coats and boots.

This coat has KILLER stunning potential. Chic. Sleeves need to be shortened, and possibly the buttons adjusted. Are you wearing the right layers underneath, Chris?

Today I was in Nordstrom doing NAS returns. I had no plans to do any shopping. When I was finished I browsed around the mall a bit and then came back to Nordstrom to head for the parking garage underneath. I made a last minute decision to go to the second floor to check out the sales, with no expectations.

On the petites NAS sale rack I found this coat, in a Petite Large. I never see Petite coats in Nordstrom, someone must have returned it. It's a warm coat, perfect for my cold winters, the right size, and I think it's really pretty and a perfect style for me. Last winter I was looking to buy a fur collar/scarf I could wear with coats, and this has one built in. Also I have wanted a camel/toffee overcoat for more years than I can count. It will not break my budget. WOW. Check, check, check...

I still don't have my laptop back and finds don't work on my old clunker, so here is a link to the coat, which I found in the camel color

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/tr.....lar-petite

Then I started the mental conversation. "Do I really need another wool coat? No, I have a perfectly reasonable collection already". I stopped right there. Reasonable? Is that how I want to decide? I've always been the reasonable one, followed the rules, never made waves. For some reason it hit me that I did NOT want to make this decison based solely on being reasonable.

Does it fit? I think so. It's designed to be a bit oversized and I'm wearing a light jacket under it in the photo. The sleeves are just a bit long.

So, dear fabbers, what do you think of the fit and the style on me? And what about the idea of making fashion decisions that are not always "reasoanble" if you love something? I think I know what the prevailing wisdom will be on that one :-)

P.s. I will take some better photos tomorrow
