Sounds like you have a great plan Lesley, and it's great that your mom is coming in to town to help you, so that you can really take your time and get what you need.

Great advice also, I am now not sure if I will be able to hit up this year's sale, because we may be using the money for vacation, we'll see, but I have my list just in case. ;)

Does that catalog have to be mailed to you, or is there somewhere you can pick it up or view it?

Lesley and Kyle - it’s a YLF order that you go NAS shopping together! Sandy and I had a BALL today. The merchandise took my breath away. The best I have ever seen at presale time. (The “good stuff” that is). My clients are going to have field day. The less expensive areas were EXCELLENT too. But shoes and boots was VERY disappointing.

Lesley, I'd go with you in a heartbeat. There are a couple of items I am eyeing, but nothing I need desperately. I've not made an appt. yet -- let me know when you'll be there and I'll try to make it work. Also, here's my e-mail: kyle@bdnaerospace.com
Did you go to Fashion Square or Chandler Mall?

Marianne: The Nordies glazed camel hobo is very cute in person. However, when I looked at it in the context of an outfit, the MBMJ cognac colored bag looked better. Also, the hobo didn't have feet on the bottom, nor did it stand up on its own. The MBMJ bag did. So, that's what I meant when I said that the color and weight of the Nordies hobo were too light. Make sense? I will probably revisit the handbags once I make my final clothing selections. But I am totally with you, in terms of your suggestions. Thanks.

I can't wait to read/hear Angie's insights on all of the merchandise. I'm waiting until she spills it before returning to the store.

Chewy: Girl, you just don't know!!! My kids have more clothes than I do. So does my husband. Always last on the list...*sighs* And don't get me started on the shoe thang. I am officially at ground zero for Fall/Winter. It seems like every year I get caught "pants down" scrambling for the dregs of the season to no avail. No more, girlfriend...NO MORE! LOL.

Lesley, I was kind of wondering about that Nordstrom hobo, among other bags. What do you mean about the weight? Was it too unsubstantial? I always think of a heavy bag as a bad thing :)

Hmm I would get a bag and some statement piece, whether it's the cardigan or the trench, whatever you would use most. I feel that *the* perfect jeans are never on sale.

I am kind of glad we went first without seeing anything prior, but now that I have been and I've had a chance to look through the catalog, I realize there are a few more individual pieces I want to look at, and perhaps to go through the Spanx hosiery more thoroughly and a better shoe department.

I definitely found things that are statement pieces, and that's kind of the attitude I want to keep on my next pass through.

Excellent advice!

*winking straight back*. You are 100% on the right track, Lesley. Well done, sweet pea.

You'll look stunning in anything, but if tough gal moto is not your vibe, leave it on the rack! Laura *is* a tough moto gal (winking at you too), so perhaps Laura should get the moto waistcoat!

I love your advice! NAS can be pretty overwhelming if you are looking to build a wardrobe from scratch.

I would add that it's best to go at a low-traffic time of day ... like Monday night when Kristen & I went. That way you are more likely to retain the attention of your lovely sales clerk for the maximum amount of time :)

You present some good strategies -- hmmm. I am thinking #1 is great if you can pull it off. Or, do as Kristen did and go for a few statement pieces in fall colors, and then you can add basics later. You know? I think NAS is great for statement pieces.

Also, why not the motorcycle vest?? I think that's a total MOTG piece that can be dressed up for evening. I wore my moto jacket TO DEATH last fall. I challenge you to rethink that one!

Also, some tips for those who have yet to go to NAS:

1. Have a plan.

2. Be realistic about your lifestyle and wardrobe needs.

3. Prioritize your shopping list (I think that Shiny already did this).

4. Be okay with walking away if need be.

5. Maybe team up with another YLFer, like Kristen and Laura did. (Yoo-hoo, Kyle!)

M'kay...that's it!

Okay...this is starting to read like a soap opera. Anyhoo, I returned to Nordies yesterday to meet my salesgirl from TBD. She was getting run all over the store by 3 sisters who were shopping together. So, one of her coworkers and a woman from handbags "babysat" until she was free.

Having shaken off most of my "shoes blues," I went in with a list of items. *winking at Angie* We ran out of time before she could pull all of the items that I asked for, *chuckling at the irony of it all*, and she told me to call her Wednesday to come back in and finish. Fortunately, my mom arrives tomorrow for a long visit. Can you say "babysitting?"

I know it sounds ridiculous, but it actually works out well. It's giving me time to really think about what I've seen and tried, and to increase my focus. I need this because, unlike others, I am pretty much starting over with Fall clothes. Plus, I still have until November to wear summer stuff. These are a few of the items that I am considering:

1. William Rast Jerri Skinny Jeans in black.
2. Splendid drapey cardigan that buttons at the left shoulder in gray.
3. Marc By Marc Jacobs Posh Turnlock Jazz Bag in cognac or black.

Some items that I have yet to see or try on include:

1. Trenchcoat
2. Sheath dress
3. Pants

Thanks, but no thanks:

1. Joe's black skinny pants - too short for me.
2. Cropped motorcycle vest - OMG, looked great on me with a flowy cream blouse underneath. But my lifestyle and personal style don't really call for this.
3. Nordies glazed camel hobo - cute bag, but too light in color and weight.

So...I'm re-thinking my strategy since I have another crack at this. Here are my ideas:

1. Get a complete casual outfit from head to toe for Fall, then break up the components and pair them with other things as I am able. This is ambitious, I realize.

2. Get a pair of jeans and a cardigan.

3. Get a pair of jeans and a trenchcoat.

I definitely see what Angie means when she says to go for the good stuff and to be selective....

What do you think I should do?
