I love all of your picks. And you NEED that new black clutch

Also, you look so cute in the Pacific bootie that I am inspired to try them. I passed on my first round(s) of NAS orders because they seemed too basic, but then I figured out that I don't have a low heeled, closed toe, black leather shoe. How did that happen??

I am loving seeing everyone's NAS hauls! (And thank god it is not accessible to me). :). I love your blue and black shoes and the booties are fantastic too. I wouldn't think there was something better than that?! ...

Sometimes game changing is not necessary especially when one has a defined and set style .... upping the game is good enough :). I think you are spot on about your purchases and how they play in your wardrobe. Enjoy!

Caro, I saw this just before I went to bed and didn't really have time to answer until now. But that's an excellent question!

I have clothes that I really, really like and that feel like a big step up for my wardrobe, but I'm not sure if I have anything truly game-changing. Maybe part of the disconnect is that I'm just on the emotionally muted side, so my "really, really like" might be the same as someone else's "OMG, this totally changed my life." So maybe I'm expecting something that isn't realistic for me.

And, also, I think some of my favorite things have nudged my wardrobe baseline up rather than changed its direction (examples are Madewell cognac booties, burgundy cashmere cardigan, indigo bag). Which means the effects aren't necessarily as dramatic, especially past the first few wears. They just easily become part of my wardrobe baseline. Which maybe is game-changing.

Will think some more about what these have in common. For a start: Great materials; design that's kind of current and timeless at the same time; rich colors and textures; a sort of relaxed feel and not-trying-too-hard vibe. They also just feel suitable for me somehow; not too old-looking or young-looking, a scale that doesn't look ridiculous with my very non-standard body proportions, make sense for my real life without being utilitarian above all.

These all look great on you for sure but If I were you I'd be looking at those more expensive items before I made my final decision.

"I'm usually happy with the options I end up with, but wonder if there's something I'm not even realizing I'm missing. Which is maybe related to the feeling that my wardrobe has a lot of "nice," but less of the kind of game-changing OMG love that a lot of people here seem to feel about their clothes."

Do you have any of these game-changing items in your current wardrobe? If you do, what is it about them that is different from all your other things? I find answering these questions really helps to narrow down what it is I need in a garment before I'll be happy with it.

Thanks, Jackie and Angie! (All 10s -- wow!) I was actually surprised how comfy the flats were, since I was afraid they might be pinchy.

Lisa, I can totally see you (and Kkards and Carter, for that matter) wearing these flats! I definitely recommend them if you're seriously thinking about them.

Update: I went to Nordstrom after work and looked around a little. I didn't see any boots, or really any kind of shoes, that I thought I might want more than the Sam Edelmans. So that's a good sign. Feeling like I want to keep them although, since I won't need them for a while, I can definitely keep an eye out for what else is out there in case there's something ultra-amazing.

I also tried on the Pure Amici sweater in gray, which was all they had. It was just kind of … boxy. Really nice quality, and I liked the line down the front and the way it drapes at the bottom, but it felt kind of shapeless. The light gray doesn't help there, and the ink blue would probably be better, but I think that much boxiness in any solid neutral would just feel drab. I did find two other splurgy sweaters that I liked, which I'm adding as Finds, but the burgundy one seems kind of snag-prone, and I don't think I like the gray one over $200 worth. So definitely a useful exercise! And makes me inclined to hold onto the sweater, too, especially since that color really does make a difference. Again, I have plenty of time to see what else I end up finding before it's cool enough to wear something like this.

And you'll notice from the picture that I wore the blue flats again today! Also, the black and white blouse.

Lots of good feedback and nice words as usual! Thanks!

Carter, the fit on the flats seems on the narrow side all the way through. I have narrow feet and I wore my regular size. The toe box felt maybe a little tight when I first put them on, but stretched out as I wore them. Not sure if it's worth it to go up half a size if you need more room. And, yup, I'd probably get the other sweater in ink if I got it -- kind of predictable, isn't it?

About the cashmere sweater and the booties, I wonder if I'm having a hard time judging them because they're the only real cold-weather-only things I've bought so far and I'm still in summer mode. On the other hand, that means I don't have to decide right away whether to keep either of them because it's not like I'd be wearing them for another few months anyway.

In terms of why I'm wondering if I should consider more expensive equivalents for the booties and sweater, I think it's a symptom of a more general thing. I always feel like I have blinders for anything but mid-range items (or I guess upper mid-range on sale). I'm usually happy with the options I end up with, but wonder if there's something I'm not even realizing I'm missing. Which is maybe related to the feeling that my wardrobe has a lot of "nice," but less of the kind of game-changing OMG love that a lot of people here seem to feel about their clothes. And booties and sweaters would both get enough wear for me that it would justify a bigger splurge if something splurge-worthy was out there. Did that make sense or just sound completely confused?

Gigi and Firecracker, I do like the neckline on the sweater, but you may have a point about there being better ones for me. Nadya, it also isn't quite as fluid as I was thinking it might be, actually. On the other hand, that also means I'd be able to wear it with more volume on the bottom without looking like a giant ball of fabric.

I may see if I can try the Pure Amici sweater. I have a Nordstrom near me and can maybe browse a little in person tonight. (I've been doing this mostly online because it's less time-consuming, but obviously miss a lot that way.) The color of the Halogen is definitely a point in its favor, but I could see myself get a lot of use out of something more neutral with interesting details too. Honestly, holding onto this and getting the PA or something else too isn't out of the question, since I've gotten rid of a lot of my pullover sweaters and could probably justify a few nice ones that would get worn a lot.

There's another cashmere sweater people here have tried that's a similar color to the Halogen, with cool zipper details. I really like everything about that except the leather elbow patches, which is kind of a shame.

Edit: Running late, but just saw Suz's comments. That's really thought-provoking that the tunic and booties are your favorites. I think I kind of go between over-thinking and under-thinking on clothes, and these might just be things where the over-thinking is turned on more than it should be, for some reason. It may be worth trying a size up on the floral sweater too, although it feels fine.

I really love the fit of the tunic sweater on you; it's nice and body skimming, and of course a lovely colour for you, also. The booties look like fantastic fit and style also -- the scale is just right for you! Of course, I understand the instant "urge to upgrade" (see Claire's post) so if you're not sure you might want to order the more expensive versions for comparison.

But to be totally honest, these are the pieces I like most from your haul, and I wonder if you will do a whole lot better with the options? Having said that, photos don't tell the full story and maybe you are feeling something that doesn't come across. In that case, DEFINITELY order the pricier versions and compare. There is no harm in it and lots of learning!

So funny about the flats; I looked at those and thought kkards!!! They're totally your style, too, and a great addition. I like them as well and had wondered if the elastic might keep them on my feet. I have such trouble with that (heels flip out).

The flowered sweater is gorgeous on you. It's hard to tell but I'm not 100% sure on the fit -- does it feel right? I'd be tempted to try a size up for comparison.

I really like your pretty new top in 4, also -- it looks versatile.

I especially love the footwear -- the flats (amazing!) and the booties, too. Booties can be so tricky. If these feel and look wonderful, do you really need to try a more expensive pair? Maybe, just to see. But don't write these off just because they are a good deal. They seem to fit like a dream.

Great job on the tops, too. I really like this sweater, but I would love to see you in the other cashmere sweater to compare, and to hear your thoughts about it.

love.love.love the flats! and yeah for being able to wear them now. same with the tee. the flower sweater is great, and i'm looking forward to seeing how everyone ends up styling it!
the cashmere sweater, i love the color on you, and it seems to fit well. i like the more expensive one as well, but i looked and the colors are more neutral. so i guess you need to decide how important color is to you.
as for the sam edelman boots, the are gorgeous boots. if it helps you, i have a pair of the "snakeskin" pettys that are going on their 3 winter. they are really comfortable and still look great. the funny thing is, every time i wear them, someone asks if there real! again, if you want to try a more expensive pair, i would, but don't let price guide you towards quality, sometimes it is, and sometimes its not.

But then I remembered all my favorite sweaters last year have had a fluid fit, and this didn't have that on me.

I like everything you got and showed here! The flats, tops, sweater, clutch--ooh! All fab on (and for) you!

I got that cashmere tunic, too, and when I put it on, I was immediately sure about it. So the fact that you are on the fence says something worth consdering. I wonder if it is the neckline that makes you not 100% sure? It seems in between a scoop and a higher neck on you.You might give the Pure Amici a try. Or see if there is another cashmere pick in a similar color to the Halogen hi-low one.

On the boots, I think they look more high-end than their price would suggest. For me the hardware makes them! And they look great on you. But which higher end ones caught your eye? You might go ahead and try them, too, since returns are pretty easy with Nordstrom. (Do you have a B&M store you can visit to do the returns?)

I look forward to seeing your other finds--and potentially another sweater and/or boots!

I think you look great in your picks, Aubergine! I do like the booties a lot, but I agree that it's worth really looking around at the higher-end ones before committing. This always helps me be happier with my purchase in the long run.

As for the cashmere sweater, I think it would be worth trying the PA one. I wonder if maybe the v-neck would be more flattering than the crew neck? I think that with a sweater like this that is a bit longer, maybe a v-neck will help lengthen the vertical line.

I got those booties too! Still trying to decide on them as well. The blue and black flats are awesome. I just flipped over to add the black on black version to my cart. How is the fit on them? I need a slightly wider toe box and a slightly narrower heel.

Love everything you got! What color would you choose in the Pure Amici...ink?

Thanks, everyone!

E, it definitely can't hurt to try the more expensive items just to see! Well, except to my debit card, I guess. And this bow isn't nearly as cute as the ones you wear! It kind of looks like it's eating the bag or something. I got it four or five years ago when I think I could get away with more ultra-girly than I particularly want to now.

Donna, yay for being sweater and t-shirt twins! The red-orange sounds really pretty I got petite M in both the sweater and the tee, which I'm slowly realizing is my actual size after a long stretch of telling myself I was "sizing up" to the M in everything.

Sveta, glad I'm not the only one with a similar thought process!

Shiny, you may be onto something with the color. I'd probably get the Pure Amici in the ink if I got it, which would certainly be pretty, but the burgundy/plum is harder to find and really is my color.

Great choices. I love all of them on you, and wouldn't return any of them. The Pure Amici would likely be nice, but not as yummy in color as the Halogen. You just look so amazing in that shade of burgundy.

I am no help because I like everything. However I get what you are saying about the higher end items...I also have these SE black booties on order - as well as SW and AG much more expensive ones so I may face the same dilemma soon- nice and affordable or awesome and expensive...
The new clutch is 1000% better than the old one!

We are flowered sweater twins and T-shirt sisters! I paid full price for the U-neck T in white, after despairing that it would ever go on sale. Oops! I got the red-orange one at NAS, a color that is a bit louder than my total comfort zone but goes with wardrobe. I sigh with envy at the cute shoes you can wear. I especially like those blue ones. Sigh.

I had to size down on the T (narrowish shoulders) but took my normal size in the floral sweater. How about you?

Wow, you've made some great choices! You look great in all of the stuff you've definitely decided on keeping. And yay for Aubergine outfits. :D

You might as well try a more expensive sweater/boots, just for comparison's sake, so that it's not always niggling at you. Although I think those booties sound pretty perfect already!

The new clutch definitely looks more streamlined and chic, although I do love a giant bow.

I've ordered a whole bunch of stuff from NAS and think I've had pretty good luck so far. I'm still waiting on a few things (including the Halogen boucle moto jacket) and haven't gotten a chance to get pictures of some others, but here are my keeps and possibles so far. Would love any comments! Also hope some of this is helpful to anyone thinking about some of these items. All of the tops are petites, by the way, if that helps to visualize the fit.

First up are Team Wear items. I've already worn these blue and black flats to work. (#1) I love the color and the elastic band detail, and they're that just-right mix of a little different, but still easily wearable for me. I also already wore this basic t-shirt (something I'm really lacking) over the weekend. (#2)

#3 is the famous flowered sweater. Really like it and think it will be a nice, low-effort piece to wear with neutral bottoms. I think it even goes with this dark purple skirt I happened to have on the day it came.

#4 is a black and white peacock-print blouse. It looks like a nice, versatile piece, I like the print and the fit, and I'm pretty much lacking in woven tops, so pretty sure I'm keeping.

#5 isn't a great picture, but it's the cashmere tunic. I love the color (obviously) and the soft, soft cashmere. But it's a lot of money for me for a sweater, and I'm not 100 % decided on it. I'm actually kind of wondering whether, since I've apparently decided to splurge on a sweater, whether I should look at some of the higher range ones in the Angie picks and get something that may be even better and more unique. Wasn't this Pure Amici one supposed to be surprisingly good on large-busted petites?

#6 is Sam Edelman Pacific booties. I wear a lot of black boots in cold weather and kind of like the idea of a more refined pair of flat booties to add to the mix. These would be good for both work and casual and would be especially nice as a do-everything shoe for travel. They're comfy and a good fit, neither flowerpot-ish nor tight, and the metal is warm and muted, which is my favorite and rare with black boots. But I'm kind of wondering, like the tunic, if I should really go whole hog and consider upping my price range so I can get something potentially awesome, rather than just something nice.

#7 is a potential replacement for my old black clutch (old one is on the right). I'm kind of sick of the giant bow and think the more streamlined shape of the new one is an improvement and the cutouts are fun without being too busy.

I've already sent back a few things, including the Zella city shorts (hit below my knees and looked really frumpy, even for ultra-casual wear) and the Pleione split-neck top (liked the one in #4 better for the same basic idea). And, as I mentioned, I have a few more potential keeps and a few more on the way. Am also toying with making another order if there's something really calling me.

Oh, and I forgot, but I've also bought and worn these gray earrings.
