It reminded me of the really cheap shoes you see at, say, KMart or Payless, but at least those you can buy for less than twenty bucks. </p> <p>I got an attack of thriftiness/responsibleness/whatever you want to call it and mailed everything back except the Born flats and the undies. The mostly shoe/boot order I made online arrived today and I thought people might want to know about the results. </p> <p>First, the yay: <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/born-molly-flat-nordstrom-online-exclusive/3365828?origin=keywordsearch">Born Molly</a> in cream, which I would describe as more of a taupey tan in real life. I range between a size 10 and 10.5 and I ordered a 10.5 which fitst perfectly. The footbed is nicely cushioned and I think this is finally the nude flat I've been looking for for a long time. </p> <p>I also ordered the <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/franco-sarto-ariana-flat-nordstrom-exclusive/3287979?origin=keywordsearch">Franco Sarto Ariana</a> flat in both black and navy. I like the look of it, the buckles are cute, and it looks high quality. The black is smooth leather with patent buckles, and the blue is a medium navy in suede with buckles that are croc-embossed leather. I wish the footbed was more cushioned and I worry that if I'm noticing this when they're brand new that they're not going to be comfortable for long. I'm still deciding whether I'll keep them, but I'm leaning toward a return. Disappointing since I've had good luck with this brand before. </p> <p>I've wanted to get a pair of laceup menswear-esque shoes since that trend came back around so I ordered the <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bp-caden-oxford/3334341?origin=keywordsearch">BP Caden oxford</a> in cognac. The online reviews said this ran small so I ordered an 11 (no half sizes) and it's still snug even without shoes. The whole shoe looks - the only word is cheap, and the color is not attractive imo.</p> <p>I also tried the <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bp-runway-boot/3167229?origin=keywordsearch">BP runway boot</a> in the wide calf version (that link might be to the regular calf, I'm not sure). The cognac is the same unfortunate weird reddish medium brown as the oxfords. Overall the quality is actually pretty nice and the calves are roomy - but the widest part of the calf is too low on me, sigh. (We have wide widths and wide calf boots - why can't we have boots for longer legs? Anyone looking for a niche cobblery opportunity?) I ordered a 10 because that was the largest size they had and it fits OK. If the fit around the calf was better I would consider reordering in the black because this is a nice classic silhouette, but this is a miss for me. </p> <p>I also ordered a pair of tights (going back, they're a different color than I expected) and a pair of the Shimera seamless hipster panties, which seem nice and I may order more of. </p>
