Oh my goodness, the dress is amazing! Did everyone get this dress? I did! Fit really is great, but it seems to fall longer on most, I'm 5.6 and a half but it seems way shorter in front. Love those EF shoes! I just stalked a pair that are no longer on the EF or GH sites, but I really love them, found on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Eileen-.....B01L2XJDNS I got black but love the tan, too. but I already have a couple similarly shaped shoes in tan. Well, I guess I do in black, too!

I did get the Tilda, in finds below, which look fantastic with "the" dress!

Angie, I am getting really granular now, sorry for being needy, but if I kept the pants, should I shorten them by an inch or just leave ALL the scrunch? I like slight scrunch ( top of foot/ break) in this type of pant because I would wear with low- vamped shoes — I do not wear at length shown on model—but are these too long?

Unfrumped, try cream on your legs and hairspray on the pants. Don't alter the pants.

I see no issue with the fit of the strap on the EF shoe.

Send the grey blazer back if it doesn't make you happy. Try the Halogen pinstripe!

I second the thoughts regarding the possible ankle straps problem. I recently found that some straps on my wedge sandals have loosened after lots of wear and now my feet are shifting around a lot when I start to walk around. Trying on is not a problem but actually walking is quite difficult. The heel swings left an right an up and down and my toes cramp whilst trying not to loose the front part with all this movement. So I would try walking around the house for a while and see how they behave. All the while keeping in mind that the leather will still loosen up somewhat after a few wears. I hope this works out as these seem to be a HEWI for you.

Thanks rachy!

Angie, thanks!
Rd the pants , I do know this amount of “ pegging “ is pushing it for me- fits great at ankle but not higher up. This is the first time I ever tried on such pants WITHOUT my “ hose” so I was surprised to see how easily they slid up and down. So ? if I tried anti static spray ? Also I considered tailoring to create little slit/ wedges I’d often in such pants and is useful for me with zip- hems. But maybe that is just “ desperation”.

What do you think about the loose ankle straps? I know I would prefer if fit better, because it does impact the “ look” of the shoe. These are such a kind of HEWI— cranberry! Suede! Ankle strap! t hat would work for work pants AND dresses, hence could get a reasonable CPW, that I might go by the cobbler and just ask what would be involved re: shortening. The little ends are just inserted into a tab and topstitched in place.

The knit blazer I got in a 2 and 0- 0 is best. I am just nit feeling the “ love” as for the plaid, ( I’m thinking about wearing it tomorrow and not waiting for “ fall”!) hence think I should pass , as at some point I can only wear so many blazers and I don’t feel it “ replaces” another.

WOW, unfrumped. YOU ROCK HIGH WAIST PLEATED PANTS. KILLER. About the issue - is it a static problem, maybe?

Love our dress in the smaller size - perfect with the EF shoes.

From what I can see in the pics, both blazers are FABULOUS. Is the stretchy knit the right size, and do you need to try the next size down?

kkards, thanks. The problem with the shoe strap is that the shoes actually zip up the back, and the strap is just a slight ly stretchy band, no buckle. The only way I could adjust would be if a cobbler could redo it at one of the sewn attached ends. My ankles aren’t particularly slim so it’s kind of bummer; but I’m in a size 9 so likely they want to be sure it’s not too tight on folks.

Love the dress & the plaid blazer. And nice that it will work with both navy & black.
Sorry to be the outlier but I think the ankle strap on the EF shoes looks like it doesn’t fit, & wonder it it goes you enough support then you walk. Could you add an hole to allow you to make the strap tighter.?

Suz, thanks; it’s good to know about the different lighting. The dress colors are actually quite good for using different footwear and accessories to get different seasonal effects , I hope. Thanks for the link to pants; I may check them out as I’m finding I need to try some different styles even in the usual brands, and experiment more. I do love the drapey pleated style, though!

The dress and EF shoes are fab! I love the blazer, too. Those are great choices. The lighter weight material of the blazer will actually be a bonus in your climate.

I love the dress and plaid blazer on you and am glad you’re keeping. That hang up issue with the otherwise adorable pants feels like a deal breaker to me. I have a pair of pants that do that and it’s annoying enough that I steer away from them when getting dressed in the morning. I agree, too, that they look great as full length pants so too much hemming doesn’t seem like a great way to go.

I'm afraid I haven't followed a real strategy for NAS but have tried random things. The longer than usual shipping time has been problematic for trying sizes and for trying other items if one did not work out.

First, Lewit high-waist pant. Waaah! Someone talk me down. I love these pants even though they are more "trendy" than I need due to the poufy upper legs. But...due to the pegged hem, they "hang up" when I sit down/get up. Pic 2 is the hung-up leg. HOWEVER, this did not seem to happen when I tried them on without my trusty nude knee-highs. OTOH, I NEED my knee-high hose with most of my shoes--a few loafers i could do with footies. So, grasping, I think, what if I cut off the narrowest part> Pic 3 is about the length I'd have to hem them to get above the narrowest part and, since I can't really reproduce it with the current tapered hem, I'd have to hack them and then see if it even worked. I like them best full-length( which would require a tad of hemming), because I want the longer legline and also then they would be 4 season pants for me. BUT not all-winter pants if too pegged to layer tights under! Double waah. I haven't returned because I'm still pouting.

Next up, ML ruched dress. I love this! Showing with EF ankle strap shoes for efficiency. I think the smaller size is best--first photos. Showing larger size which has more excess under arm, and shoulder seam hits an inch or so below my shoulder edge. This is sort of for my imaginary lifestyle, but the price-point helps me try it for fun, and I have many footwear choices because it can go with black, nude, camel, etc and I have flats and pumps and booties to try. I would also have fun wearing with a puffy vest for winter. The dresses I got seem to have "warmer" flowers, very cream-peach, compared to some of the stock photos or even how Suz's looks. I can manage the warmth of those colors with the black background.

EF ankle strap close up showing the straps are roomy (not adjustable)--is this a deal-breaker? I really should not do any pointy at all, but with suede and a roomy, larger toe-part (comes higher up the foot) they are ok. They are comfy but not as quite much as my PG's, hence I focused on the burgundy color as a HEWI and fun contrast for black cropped pants, and neutral skirts.

1901 plaid blazer--I think I will keep unless I am missing something. I don't NEED another blazer per se, but I am targeting "medium" colors other than plain gray, that go with black pants and so the plaid is great for that. Like Harry Potter every-flavor beans, plaid to me is so forgiving of colors (solids) with it because of the variations in the weave. This plaid may actually have red and green in it but it skews burgundy/berry and teal for me with things I've tried with it. It is "navy" but the plaid has a darker stripe that is either VERY dark navy, or black. Hence I think it looks good with black OR navy bottoms, light and dark colors. It is all-cotton and hence will wrinkle, but the semi-seersucker and plaid make that less of an issue.

Angie pick VC houndstooth knit blazer. I tried this because the houndstooth is slightly "murky", white appears off-white and not crisp, hence better for my coloring. It fits and is fantastically comfortable but I think I will pass--something about the fit is not quite sharp enough for business wear and not quite right for super casual. I showed with a colored top , maybe not best color, because I think it looks best with black or white still and so may not be as versatile for me, not sure I want to do black pants, colored top, b& white jacket look. I like 3/4 sleeve or rolled sleeve but also less sure of ruching these days. The overall "medium" color, reading about like a gray, is very good, but style doesn't seem where I am right now. Hmmph.

Tried the Halogen leather jacket; S was too big, and jacket may be too boxy for me and collar big for my face. May try smaller but then may not fit at hip. This is imaginary lifestyle to some extent so I should prolly not get leather.

LaCanadienne boots. I need a lesson in tall boots, apparently. It may be that they just are not that flattering on me. I actually tried the black suede. Foot is good fit and comfy but the upper part of leg seems roomy and buckles. I thought I would love the suede (good for bunions) and also suede would be less.... shiny, leathery! than the black leather, but I found the suede too light-sucking, along with the fit problem. Maybe because I would wear with dark, "soft" skirt fabrics? Also seem to give me funny leg proportions--heavy somehow. Or am I just used to black tights +loafers or booties? Ithink I'd like the look of a more refined boot but then it's likely my feet would not like them, since usually means slimmer, pointier. I might try the smooth leather but I don't really NEED tall boots the way some do for weather. At least it's interesting that the LC "last" seems to get my feet.

Angie laceless loafer. I actually am trying the black even though the gray looks yummy, because I already have several gray oxford-type shoes, and because I always need flat black not-booties, more of a shooty. I find black sneakers with white soles too casual for my workplace so thought these might be a compromise. Not sure of fit so far--they are a bit tapered and may pinch R toes unless they stretch out. Otherwise are indeed nicely padded.

Leopard scarf. I'd like to keep this so will have to find 2-3 of my existing scarves to toss out!
