OK, I had to come look for the BJ dress after seeing the BCBG one. This one is great too -- the two have such different vibes that it's hard to compare, but if you can, I would recommend keeping both. But keep in mind this is coming from someone who finds dresses a very difficult fit! You probably don't have anywhere near the issues finding great dresses that I do. :-)

I like the vest but it seems a bit long to my eye. It is quite a substantial piece, isn't it? Really nice and well made, but I agree with rachylou that it's a quite heavy, warm piece.

Suz, I am 5'3'', so a tiny bit shorter than you. I would plan to wear this with my normal fall/winter footwear--so heels of 0.5'' to 2'', but not always with 2''. Probably not with white jeans though--I mostly only wear those in summer, though it might be an option to wear my floral jeans with them, or a light blue wash skinny jeans. But most of my winter bottoms are dark, plus I have a lot of dresses/skirts I can pair it with. But yeah, the coat issue is a thing. I have one coat that might possibly work with it...but it still might be an inch or two shorter.

It's interesting on the length. I am worried that mine won't fit under any of my coats, either. I hope Angie weighs in again but if she doesn't pop back, let's one of us start a new thread on that question.

I saw what Skylurker saw about the visual effect (looks too long with pants, but not with dress) but I think that might be different if you were wearing footwear and possibly less high contrast pants. And especially if you were wearing a heel (even a small one). How do you think you'll wear the gilet?

Aren't we the same height? (I'm about 5'4") I am pretty sure I would always be wearing a 2 inch heel with this -- generally not more, but very rarely less than that -- since that's my favourite height for comfort as well as looks, and most of the new block heels are around that height.

The gilet looks too long over the pants, but it looks great with the dress.
Beautiful dress on you, I think a black bra would be unnoticeable if the low cut bothers you.

I like both items on you a lot, and I like them together! I'm not sure I'd shorten the gilet. It looks intentionally midi length on you.
I think you can definitely dress-down the dress, with the suggestions you've gotten above. Those sound like great outfits.

wow, looks like the dress was a big hit! Angie's description of it is quite correct--reading the description made me want to buy the dress even though it looked more formal than what I wanted:

"A comfy dress on a curvier figure. Stretchy and soft, but not sloppy. Fits slightly pear shaped body types very well. Length is easy to alter for petites. I like how spaced the floral pattern is. Different."

The dress is very comfy, I almost didn't want to take it off. The rare sheath dress on me that doesn't feel constricting. I am slightly pear shaped, but the dress was cut to accommodate that. It might not work as well on ITs or apple shapes who have less to fill out the bottom half. I am petite but feel no need to get the dress length altered, it hits just below knee, and doesn't feel significantly different length-wise on me than on the model (top of knee).

Regarding the gilet--what should I do about the length? It is too long on me, I think--it would stick out of coats and things. You can already see that it is longer than this "midi-length" dress.

Ummlila: yes, I'm not sure I'd want to go up in size beyond this because of upper body fit.

Rachylou: glad you like the dress on me! Yes, it's a heavier wool and I was surprised too by that when I found it in store. I have made my peace with that, now it's just a question of whether it will be versatile enough for me.

Gradfashionista: Great suggestion, though I don't have either one of those items...I should get a denim jacket one of these days.

Colette: you should get it--I think it will work well on you, too! We can be dress twins. It runs pretty much TTS.

Nomadicliz: that is probably how I'll try to dress it down!

Suz: yes, let's be dress and gilet twins!

Angie: your description was what made order this dress. It sounded like the rare sheath that would on me without sacrificing comfort What do you think of the length of the gilet?

Smittie: I forgot to post a picture, but it's deeply cut underneath the arm, to the point a bit of my bra shows if I'm not careful. Not a dealbreaker but a bit odd.

I don't think I would mind the cut out under thr arm of the dress.. It's a little weird, but not a deal-breaker.

The first part of my second big NAS order arrived today. R&B gilet and the Betsey Johnson dress. For the gilet, this is just a try-on with what I was wearing today, sans shoes. But at least this time it isn't with height of summer clothing...thoughts? I will have to do more styling later on. I am more favorably disposed to it now because I think I can wear it with a number of long sleeved blouses that are hard to wear with sweaters, and so I resort to my navy schoolboy blazer instead. (Hopefully it's not my arms that get cold, haha)

Second up is the Betsey Johnson scuba dress. The fit of this one is pretty much perfect for me, and it's actually quite comfortable, and doesn't show lumps or bumps. Questions are can I dress it down? The one thing I don't like it is the underarm being cut away...on me it's a little low.

Looking forward to your feedback!
