LaPed - I just purged a pair of Lucky jeans that had a scratchy issue. Like there were loose hairs inside the legs (not my hairs! HA!) There was also a weird puckering/pulling that developed across the front of the thigh area. I didn't bother to check the fabric content.... I am nodding along with the "too slim in the thighs" in some bootcut jeans I've tried lately. Denim fit is so tricky sometimes! Maybe that's why I hoard them when I find ones that work.

Suz - I am with you on wanting a certain rise with cling. The shorter rise simply do not work and definitely feel twisted in a weird way. The rise on the Transcends is great, and I had an "ahhhh" moment when I pulled them on and they fit. They were just tighter than I expected them to be - the fit was more like a skinny jean on my rear area. I am ok with cling, but in these, the result was more saddlebag than I am willing to show (or admit to having ) these days.

Sal - I am hopeful that my bootcut or flares are out there! And I am pleasantly surprised by NAS. Last year's sale felt crazy to me, and I felt panicky and bought (and settled on) a lot of things. I was more focused this year, and didn't feel nearly as much despair from missing out on items or feeling like I HAD to have something. This year, I picked up 2 jeans and took a wildcard shot at a sandal, and have no problem being picky.

Angie - thank you for weighing in! I have purging summer tops in poly, but I certainly don't mind poly content in jeans - in fact, all of my skinnies are heavy poly content - and I realize it's necessary to help them keep their shape. I was just surprised by it in the Transcend boot cuts. I have been wearing and preferring jeans in a looser fit and higher cotton content this summer, so maybe that's part of the shock factor. The Transcends are boxed up, but if I get a chance, I will try to photo them before I head to the post office.

Another synthetic skeptic here. I understand the pros of adding poly to denim in theory, durability and shape retention and all that. In practice, however, denim that is very soft and stretchy often ends up feeling too much like leggings to me. I've tried a couple pairs of bootcuts/flares recently and felt very cling-conscious in them. Cut too slim through the thighs. I may go the vintage route instead. I got rid of my one pair of cotton/poly/spandex jeans because they got scratchy over time -- like there were small fibers starting to fray on the inner face of the denim? I have a couple pairs of cotton/lyocell/spandex jeans where this hasn't been an issue. Fingers crossed the Frame jeans work out for you!!

I’m chiming in quickly because I have a bit of a WiFi connection!

FWIW: Don’t necessarily be too fast to return jeans with a poly content. They last longer, launder better, and retain their shape more effectively during the day than 100% cotton. Better that 98% cotton 2% spandex too. It’s actually a plus. I was JUST like you at first. I thought the poly content was a bad thing - when it’s good. It just took me time to get used to it and appreciate the advantages :)

I wrote posts about this but can’t link to them - sorry.

Shame about those jeans but onwards. I do think the bootcut or flare style will suit you.

I do find the NAS bemusing from afar..... I get it on one hand (new season, good discounts) but I don't get it (there are always sales, it is very early to plan and it seems kind of chaotic).

That is SOOOOO interesting!

Pretty much any jean (even a supposed wide leg) clings to my thighs because my thighs are my curviest part -- the only ones that don't cling are BF style, pretty much. Anyway...I am fussy about the type of cling, with some bothering me more than others. And this cling (on the Paige) felt just fine to me! I also don't usually like very stretchy jeans -- I'm a sucker for more structured denim.

Anyway. Colour me surprised!

Reflecting a bit, I think the worst cling for me is when the rise is not right (typically too short) -- then snugness in the thigh feels very "off" like pantyhose that are twisted and can't be pulled all the way up or something. If the rise is right, I do tolerate more cling, I suspect. Oh, and also, I don't mind cling in the bottom. So maybe that influences things.

Preppy Pear- I’m not sure. It’s been a long time since I’ve worn bootcuts. They fit great in the leg and waist but I suspect if I sized up, they would still be clingy in the seat but gape in the waist.

My other Paige have been tts, so I didn’t bother to order the next size. Maybe others who have tried them will weigh in.

I had the same experience with the Paige jeans - the clinging in the thighs. Is that something that gets better or worse or doesn’t change with wear? I loved them otherwise. Hopefully the Frame style works better.

I order three items from NAS: the Paige Transcend bootcut jeans, the Frame flare jeans, and the Camuto sandal in rose fabric sandals. I am still waiting on the Frame flares, but am returning the other two.

Returning: Paige bootcuts. Beautiful wash and stitching. They fit TTS, and I wouldn’t need to get the waist altered (rare for my rear). However, with only 23% cotton, I felt they were a bit too clingy in the thigh and seat. Not sure if it’s because I’ve been in rigid denim most of the summer (boyfriend or straight leg, 97% cotton or more) but for the price, I decided to send them back.

Returning: sandals. I tried on the sandals in store. I normally wear a 7 in most shoes but will size up in sandals to avoid toe hang over. These ran super small on me - I ordered a 8.5 and 8; both were small. I sized up to a 9 to eliminate the toe hang, but the sandal footbed felt too dainty under the arch of my foot, making my foot look flat and hang over the sides. Too bad because they are a beautiful silvery gold and would be really versatile.
