Ok, here's what I'm starting to think:
I'm probably going to have to get that leather moto jacket, in brown as Angie suggested.
I'm also slowly pining for that blackberry trench, but I want to verify something before I commit. How versatile is it colour-wise? I mean, are there any colours it would clash dreadfully with in tterms of my outfits? What's the styling of the coat? Does it reveal a lot of your shirt? I just want to know so I never wear it with a top or pants of the wrong colour. I'm also wondering how poorly it would go with burgundy if I get these boots I want. Not too fussed if it doesn't work, as the burgundy boots are more for winter, but wanted to check.
I may pass on jeans altogether, as returning things from Canada is expensive and a hassle. I may as well focus on finding something here, or shop Jags/DK's when I'm in New Jersey for guide dog training in September. As we all know, jean fitting is rarely accomplished overnight. :)
Cardigan: Thinking about the purple one that Angie posted, still deciding
Tops: The sweet pea pink multi is a go, and I'm thinking about the faux-wrap one that Inga posted too. Also eyeing the Michael Kors. If I had to get just one, which would you pick?
Scarf: There's a consensus developing that I should get the plaid one. It's a winter fabric... Would it look good with the grey coat O foresee myself getting, and if so which colour should I get (store colour names like "almond butter" are less than helpful). :)
In the interest of my budget, I'll probably shop consignment for handbags here in Toronto. May have to do the same for pants (I want something like microchecks and none of these seem *exactly* like what I'm after).

I agree. Inge's English is mind blowing and the descriptions going down on this forum are stellar. Thanks for helping out, ladies.

(Michelle, the lasses on this forum rock because YOU rock. Love and kindness is like a boomerang - what you dish out, you get right back).

The brown of the moto jacket is a perfect warm brown. Not too light and not too dark – but more dark than light. It’s richer and softer than the black. Less flat imo. Will look heavenly on you, I think. Go for the brown and not the black. That way it will also look fab with black and burgundy.

The purple trench coat is impeccable quality at a brilliant price. It’s also weatherproof I might add. I very good buy.

Hmmm. DK’s are excellent jeans, but the Jags are on sale. Go for the Jags. If they don’t work, you can return them.

I’m referring to the NAS cardis that I picked out for you.

My suggestion is to go for a few GREAT statement pieces at the NAS. If you come home with on or two treasures, you’ve done well. No need to purchase it all. Inge has made brilliant suggestions for less expensive items. Hope this info helps.

The only thing more incredible than the choices here is the kindness and generosity of you girls, taking the time to explain all this to me! I'd be completely at sea without this guidance... Best. Forum. Ever!

Inga: what do you mean you're bad at describing things in English? Your descriptions were fantastic! You and Kristen should open a business explaining things to the blind. :)Thanks to this I should be able to select a couple of the tops (amloving the sound of the sweet pea, the Michael Kors and at least one other one). Of the pants you described, which ones do you think would be more slimming? Or should I hold out for a pair of microchecks?

Angie: you're killing me with this moto jacket, I might have to cave! So you think I should get the brown over the black? What shade of brown is it?
What's your take on the jeans question, jags or David Kahns?
Oh god, that trench! I'm pining for it, and the price is pretty good (observation of the day, plus sizes pay more, but seem to get steeper discounts too. See trench for example, very interesting0).
Which cardy are you referring to, the one you picked or one of Ingas?

I'll probably be making final selections soon! Oh, and btw, I'd absolutely love to fly to Seattle and partake of your services some day...and I'm totally serious.

I went and spent time in the plus size dept Michelle, and this is my 2 cents:

o	I think the brown moto jacket could be KILLER. I saw it on a tall size 20 gal yesterday and she blew me away. I marched straight up to her and told her that she HAD to purchase the jacket.

o	The cardigans are beautiful. LONG–ish and the drape is fab. I think this would be flattering. Get the purple.

o	This trench is KILLER in the blackberry (which is a muted dark purple). It also blew me away yesterday. You can remove the hood, wear it in Autumn and Spring and look utterly incredible. Fabulous side entry pockets and exquisite fabric. A good length and great shape. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....3&P=1

How else can we help you, Michelle? Fly down to Seattle so that I can fit you? I never stop hoping!

So many choices!

That cobalt dress is gorgeous! Falls to about an inch above the models knee and if I remember you're fairly tall, so would probably be similar. Perfect for leggings, like Angie mentioned.

About the moto-jacket- it's simply styled, no visible hardware, and seamed for figure-flattering. You can definitely pull this off- it doesn't have a heavy biker vibe. Classic yet sassy.

Micheal Kors black and white top- a drapey, silky beauty. (I think the next link down has the small pieces at the neckline) I so hope you get this. Has different sized black and grey circles on a white background. The smocking is on the bottom, so works as a banded top. Sleeves are beautiful, billowy, dress it up, dress it down. Silk... I want....

Jeans- I've worn my David Kahns out, loved 'em, but I think the boot cut black jeans Angie posted would be great for fall. The model they have them on doesn't look that straightish to me, but with jeans, you never know, just have to try. If you do go for the David Kahns, the whiskering is minimal and the wash is dark, but with mine, it seemed like the whiskering became more prominent the more they were washed.

Michelle, other than the coats that have already been discussed as not being the right color, all of the colors you asked about would be great for you. The sangria top I can completely see you in! Absolutely perfect. And the cobalt blue, too! And the purple jacket. Fabulous. My coloring is similar to yours and I get lots of compliments when I wear similar colors.

Michelle, I can help Inge out regarding the Halogen cord blazer ... it does not run large. In fact I would say that brand runs a tiny bit on the small side. I'd order your regular size, and you should be in good shape.

Fab job, ladies! Thanks for helping out Michelle. Your descriptions are stellar.

Michelle, I’m going back to the plus size department in a few minutes and I’ll try to have all your quezzies sorted.

OF COURSE you can pull off a leather jacket. The one I posted is in a gorgeous rich brown that would work with black and the cool tones that you enjoy wearing.

The coat I posted is not the best colour but the style is SUPERB. Let’s earmark that as a bench mark. I’m off….like sour milk. Will be back to report tonight.

Hi Michelle. Glad you like the selection;-)

I'm not very good at describing styles, colours and patterns in English, but I'll give it a go. First let me say that I completely agree with Sarah's advice and descriptions.

- Coats: You're absolutely right. I'd hold out for something in a fabulous colour.

- Semantiks purple boiled wool jacket: it's a bright royal purple, not loud, just a lovely bright colour. The ruffles are 'large' and run from the top of the collar all the way down to the hem of the jacket, where they continue all around. i.e. the bottom has ruffles in the front and back also. It's very feminine and playful. It also has two (flat) front pockets with a horizontal border of about 2 inches 'on top', that border runs all along the jacket, in the back as well (it kind of looks like a belt in the same colour). It kind of accentuates your waist.
The material doesn't look clingy at all Michelle, I would definitely give this a try.

- Halogen cord blazer: I only know the brand from seeing it on-line, perhaps someone else will be able to tell if the brand runs large.

- First Sweet Pea top: LOL, I indeed picked the same top as Angie. I would definitely go with the patterned one Angie suggested.

- I don't know if you noticed, but I found another Sweet Pea top too, this one has a V-neckline (the material crosses over at the bust, a bit of a wrap top effect), which I think would be very flattering on you. It hits just below the model's bottom. It has a large paisley print (somebody please help me describe paisley!). Colours: two shades of purple, orange, white and bright pink. (looks a lot better than it sounds;-)
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....1&P=3

- Fall foliage: it looks like leaves in different colours have been laid on top of each other, the edges of one leave hiding part of the leaves underneath. It all blends into one, just like with a real tree. Colours: black, orangey red, fuchsia/pink and a dark (slightly brownish) purple.

- Michael Kors top: There's nothing Sunday school about this one Michelle;-) It looks like 7 small square pieces of fabric (about an inch in diameter) have been 'attached' to the top part of the neckline (they lie completely flat, no worries). It really is a fab top, I had been eyeing it on the Nordstrom site for quite a while.

- Tweed pants: it's a very small tweed pattern, I think this will certainly work on you.

- Herringbone pants: have you ever measured your inseam Michelle? Could you check with a pair of pants that you own that are a good length? You'll have to decide if you want to wear these pants with flats or a small/high heel and commit to that length.

- Cardigans: I'll have a look on a few other websites Michelle, and see if they have something similar.

Handbags: oh my, that first one sounds super (the kate spade is out of my price range). Could someone describe the one in the first link?
Did you mean this one, Michelle?
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....8&P=1

Scarves: I can imagine, the second one is very hard to describe!-)
The first one is just one solid colour, you can wear it as a wrap over your shoulders, or as a regular scarf. The Elsa pink is a lovely fuchsia, the Tanzanite is actually royal purple and the Turkish blue is a teal blue.

If you're after something special, I would go for the second scarf, it's just so unique.

Does this help at all?

I do think a scarf would be nice. Either one of the solids or the lovely plaid/paisley print ones.

Michelle, I'll answer a few of your questions, as best I can:

Angie's picks:
2. The Sangria is a lovely bluish pink. It's bright, but not neon. Very lovely. Almost like fuschia.
3. The pink multi is a very subdued mix of prints. First you have a green/blue marbelized print with pink/purple peacock feather looking print over the top. There are little spots of orange in it as well, so it truly is "multi". It's not bright or flashy, but the colours are lovely together. I can imagine it would look great with jeans.
4. I'm horrible with measurements, but the cobalt dress appears to sit an inch or two above the knee. I'm assuming you'd wear leggings or tights with this. Again, the color is stunning.
5. I have not seen this cardi in person, so can not comment.
6. YES you can pull off a leather jacket like this! It hits around hip length, a few inches above the crotch area. The panels look great, it seems like it would be tailored just perfectly. There is also a waist panel for a slimming effect.
7. I'm super curvy too, Michelle, and I was surprised that I could pull off straight and skinny jeans. I don't think it would hurt to try these. I think black would be great, especially if you plan on getting burgundy boots. I also really like the David Kahns, though. I have jeans with that much whiskering. It seems like the whiskering is tastefully done. In fact, I think those jeans are pretty hot.

Michelle you are so lucky to have these wonderful friends shopping for you. See how much you are valued here? I went through every one of the links and I could see you looking lovely in EVERYTHING. It will be so hard to choose favorites.
One thing that I think I am going to have to order is that Perisian scarf with the plaid and paisly. I think Ana got one of those too.
Angie if you see this, which color do you think would work with my new silvery grey Calvin Klein wrap coat, and my new dark hair color? Thanks.
I'm so xcited about that scarf because I RARELY see one that I really love.

Ok, here's my list of thoughts and follow-up questions!

Angie's picks

1. Likely won't go for the coat since the colours are wrong.
2. Pullover Sounds good, but can someone describe the Sangria colour please?
3. Could someone describe the "pink multi" pattern on the Sweet Pea top?
4. Ooooh, cobalt dress sounds really great. Where does it fall to on the model?
5. Has anyone seen this cardigan? I'm wondering about the fabric (I like a soft knit that drapes easily). If I get this, I'm thinking either black or purple. Thoughts/
6. Ok, madly tempted by the leather jacket... Could I pull off a moto-jacket, do you think? Can someone describe the fit a little more, and where it comes to on the model? I'm leaning towards black for this if I get it, as I don't wear much brown and have trouble matching it.
7. Re. the jeans: I'm not a straighter body type, as it says on here. Especially now when I'm a bit more pearish than usual. Would I be better off with David Kahn's? It's something Angie suggested ages ago. I found this pair, not part of Nas but still 40 per cent off. Are they dark wash enough, and are they too whiskered?
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....rchresults

Inga's picks

Coats: The winter coat comes in the same colours I passed on above, and the coral coat I'll have to take a miss on now just because I'm trying to stay semi-focused and on budget... Though it's hard! :)

Jackets: purple boiled wool one looks interesting, could use more descriptions on the exact shade of purple and the shape of the jacket. Only concern is that it isn't lined; may be too clingy against the material I wera under it, as I find boiled wool incredibly itchy.
I love the idea of the cord blazer, but don't think it would fit in 16 or 18 regular (unless this brand runs large, does anyone know)?

Tops and Blouses: Haha, I think you picked the same sweet pea top as Angie, just in a different colour! Which one is best, ladies?
Could someone please describe "Fall foliage?" This sounds interesting.
Wow, that Michael Kors one (third link) is a great price! Could someone please describe? How is the smocking handled? I often avoid because it makes me think of being dragged to sunday school in lil pink dresses as a kid, but I'm sure this is different. :)

Pants and Jeans: Tweed pants sound quite nice, could I pull off this pattern?
Herringbone sound gorgeous, may be too long for me?

Dresses: will pass on short sleeves for Toronto winters

Cardigans: AAAAARGH, that first one you posted looks great, but I don't think it comes in plus!! But that's the kind of colour scheme I'm after (plus one black for versatility).
Ditto the second one, which also looks great!

Handbags: oh my, that first one sounds super (the kate spade is out of my price range). Could someone describe the one in the first link?

Scarves: Am having trouble picturing them. Figures!

Girls, you're all wonderful, and I appreciate your help so much!!

That plaid scarf that Inge posted...I can't stop looking at it!! I've never shopped NAS before (Nordstrom in general has been wayy outside my student budget) so I was just wondering how long the sale would be going on for? I'm going to Austin for a week and I'm hoping I can pick it up in person over there...

I know you're not really looking for scarves, but this cashmere one can be worn in different ways and the available colours are fabulous. Especially the Elsa Pink, Turkish Blue and Tanzanite.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....9&P=1

This could be fun too:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....9&P=2
It's a plaid scarf, but the ends have kind of a paisley print. Unexpected mixture of patterns. I like the Moss Green (moss green & purple plaid + green, cream & fuchsia paisley) and the Deep Orange (orange & light purple plaid + cream, light green and purple paisley).

I like the purple, blue and black

P.S. Not in the NAS, but also on sale. Would you consider something like this Michelle? They all have a kind of "crinkle" effect going on that looks very similar to croc leather. I have one of their bags (the Avril in black) and am very happy with it. The quality is excellent and I always feel very stylish when carrying it;-)

Smoky teal or ruby (it looks more like a tomato red on my screen) maybe?

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....4&P=3

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....4&P=4
I really loved how you looked in the black&white printed dress yesterday, that's why I'm including this patterned blouse.

Jackets:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....1&P=1
The blackberry cordial is a great colour.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....1&P=1
This is a light grey. I love the removable flower (it's not very big, quite subtle) and the ruched patch pockets.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....5&P=4
Kind of a mid-grey subtle tweed.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....1&P=3
The ruffled edges look very feminine and the purple colour is fab. I think you should get this!-)
