Thanks for the input, Angie! I will cross my fingers about the booties. My feet are ultra-fussy with "barefoot" shoes but more open-minded if they can wear socks.

The booties look soooo good on the foot. They aren't all that soft though, so I didn't find them comfy. But you might.

How fun! Lots of good picks here, and your explanations seem perfectly reasonable to me. I love the black lace longline bralette and black sheer blouse for going out. It's a combo that will look alluring but subtle in the low lighting of a club. The James Perse blazer looks really cool, good for you, picking it up in a couple of sizes so you don't miss out this year. And figure skating clothes! Good to get them on sale, and with triple points, too. (I used a triple points day today, too. Makes sense on my biggest shopping day of the year.)

High five on the Mother jeans--I got those, too. And I have the Halogen kick flares from last year.

My credit card might be mortally wounded. I ordered a ton, including the leather jacket from Macy's.

I have never actually worn the bra + sheer top combo before, but I really like it on others... I feel much better about it hearing from you all that it's not too "out there" of a look.

This year's NAS seems exceptional, at least compared to recent years. In the past I've often been most drawn to pricey items, but a lot of the wild cards I'm most excited about are in the $50-$100 price range.

I ordered the Adidas floral bomber at 2AM PST when the sale opened, and I kid you not, it was already backordered to July 25th. Last year one of my backordered items was ultimately cancelled, so I hope this one ships.

delurked: When I looked at the "lookbook" preview yesterday that another YLFer posted, I actually had my eye on another black topper as well (Find attached below). Ultimately I ruled it out because it doesn't have pockets, but the original plan was to order 2 sizes in each of the 2 jackets... that would have been $1k in credit card float :O I missed having a black jacket so many times this year that I'm willing to invest in a higher-end brand.

Anyway, that's to say that I support ordering 6 pairs of black pants I agree that pants are tough to go high end on. I know rationally that shoes are worth investing in, but irrationally I tend to put my money into very well made dressy footwear (my taste in fancy shoes tends toward timeless quirky) rather than the neutral booties and sandals that I wear out every season. I am hard on shoes and it pains me to see them so beat-up if I've invested--of course, I should be thinking about CPW rather than how long I get to keep the item for.

I see a lot of replenishing basics (practical) as well as a few fashion choices.

Btw, I don't have any issue with just a bra beneath mesh top. Certainly have done that in past. Small tear I'm past that now.

Does it help if I mention I ordered 6 pairs of black pants in search of one? No local Nordstrom, and it's very difficult to see the detail of black pants online. I will get them all here and figure it out. I am also doing my triple points day today. I can't swear I'm done, but I got the pants, one short sleeve workout tee, and one Aquatalia boot to try. I told myself last year that going forward I would focus on quality footwear. I'm not quite willing to go high end on the pants, as I'm still fluctuating in weight, and want a pair that can be more forgiving of this shift.

Keix on "NAS Overload"

Warning: I ordered A LOT of stuff today... Used my Triple Points Day so I'm trying to front-load ordering anything that I want to try on. I have a Nordstrom store 10 minutes from my house but it's a very small store (convenient for returns though).

1) First, I usually refresh my bra wardrobe at NAS by purchasing another Feathers bra. I have probably too many of them by now and should retire some of the years-old ones. They have a nice nude-ish color in the sale this year so I knew I definitely wanted that. Meanwhile, I've been into bralettes lately for the comfort--I don't need much in the way of support--so I ordered a simple nude wireless bralette to try and a pretty black longline one that I plan to wear under a sheer black shirt.

2) Speaking of which, I know layering only a bra under a shirt THIS sheer (Hinge Ruffle Mesh Blouse) is a bit risque for most YLFers... I am under the average age demographic here but I still dress more conservatively than a lot of people my age. If it works out, I plan to wear this bralette/sheer shirt combo ONLY to nightclubs, where I feel a bit more daring. I guess I could wear the shirt day-to-day with a cami underneath, too, but honestly it's a bit too alluring for my normal non-clubbing style.

3) Repeat workhorses and/or assuaged regrets from last year's sale: I still regret returning the black James Perse blazer before styling it properly in try-ons. I haven't found anything to fill the put-together-casual black topper hole. So this year I ordered 2 sizes, to compare with a slightly looser fit. In the repeat workhorse category, I really loved last year's Trouve tunic sweater and was happy to see them bring back a similar version (slightly different neckline). I also threw in the Halogen cropped flares from last year, because I never got to try them on in my size... annoyed about the lack of front pockets though.

4) Athleisure: Zella cropped leggings because with my new hobby, figure skating, I've found that cropped leggings are better than full length. I have 3 Beyond Yoga exercise tanks already, could use another, and I love their cottony spacedye fabric. Then I threw in two wildcards, a cozy circle cardi and a floral bomber jacket; both styles tend to look sloppy on me, but maybe these will be the exceptions!

5) Footwear: I need a pair of lighter-colored flat booties, preferably with a fitted, higher ankle shaft. Really hoping that the Dolce Vita pair is comfy and narrow enough in the shaft. The Gentle Souls high top sneakers are another wildcard; I don't really wear sneakers because I dislike fussing with laces, but these are zip-entry only with a cool print and I always need all-day walking shoes.

6) At the end I threw in a few trendy impulse buys--step-hem cropped Mother jeans, a black jumpsuit. And the scallop-hem Halogen sweater, which isn't trendy but I wanted to see the shade of red in person and I don't intend on venturing in-store for long this year.

If all that excess wasn't enough, I also ordered a new blanket for the couch - but that's a replacement I've been meaning to make for a while now, so I'm crediting it towards the household budget rather than my shopping budget. I might still pick up some candles as gifts, but otherwise I am waiting impatiently for everything to arrive. Although I haven't looked too closely at my July budget totals (eek), I'm quite good at ruthlessly returning things--sometimes too ruthlessly, see point #3--so I will square the numbers after I've tried everything on.
