I had an item cancelled but was able to reorder it in under 24 hours. It was something on super sale but not a NAS item. Keep checking and keep trying.

FYI I had 2 items on my wish list that were sold out on at 12:20 AM on Saturday that I’ve now managed to purchase, one live in store and 1 take came back in stock in my size this morning

To your other question, no i don’t think that Nordstroms would put something on line available for sale if they never ordered it/received it. For what it’s worth, Nordstroms would have had to commit to items and quantities for the sale 6-9 months ago. As the recent earning calls from Walmart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and so many others have shown, this pandemic has upended the forecasting ability of much of retail as what the consumer wants and when.
…so if you’re Nordstroms back in Fall of 2021 do you buy more athleisure, loungewear, business wear, business casual, going out wear???. I’m sure that there are many items that they bought way to few of, and an equal number that they bought way to many.

As for your second question, I've not had orders be cancelled for an item that was never stocked- it's typically been when I'm stalking something, and I'll nab it, only to get a cancellation a few hours later. I recall that last year due to supply chain issues, there were a few items that appeared in the preview, but were never stocked. So, I guess that could still be a possibility this year.

Last year, I had two orders cancelled during NAS, and one the year before. I was later able to reorder all three items.

ETA: I had four cancellations in 2019. I was never able to reorder the items.

I'd have to say common based on my experiences last year. Keep checking back...someone will return it at some point.

I did check this morning (before the cancellation email) out of curiosity and every color and size was out of stock. Is it possible that it never was stocked in the first place?

It's happened to me, on at least one item, every year for the last three years, so I would say it is common. I agree with Kathie's explanation. I have had good luck checking in the morning (EST) for the items to be restocked and ordering right away.

I think I've decided that if anything is cancelled on me this year, I am going to let it go. We will see if I stick to that, ha!

I think it happens a fair amount during NAS. It's a bummer, especially if you really want it. I think you can probably stalk it and have a decent chance of finding it. I've had it happen to me too.

I can’t say it’s common, but I’ve had it happen during previous sales. My sense is that if inventory shows the item is at a store, someone else might buy it before it can be picked by the associates and sent. Most of my items seem to come from warehouse facilities, but every now and then I get something shipped from a store.

I stayed up until midnight to place my order and was so excited that the order went through and the confirmation was sent! I just got an email that indicated that the item was out of stock and the order was cancelled. Is this common?
