I should have asked you before ordering. I hope the jacket will still fit. And although the boots will have the rounded toe typical of Birkenstocks, I am more than okay with that if they feel good. I have been waiting forever for them to make more than their clog style and sandals for fall/winter wear. In college I wore my Arizonas with wool socks until there was enough snow for it not to be feasible, but what works when you are 19 sometimes isn't the same when you are 45!</p> <p>I will post photos when we return, but I am taking a stand with my summer body this year by wearing shorts. I realize that doesn't sound outlandish, but I haven't worn anything that exposed my knees in years. But I tried some on and decided that to heck with it. I had a real love-in for that windowpane dress until I realized that I had no reason to buy another dress. The necklace is unique and interesting. And I felt exactly about the boots as you do. It is sadly rare to find a grey-based leopard print and wow, what a useful item that would be in my closet, especially now that my hair is grey. But. Ahem. My apologies. I'd be grateful if someone could move it.</p> <p>I logged into Nordstrom's site first thing this morning to check how much of my wish list was still available. Shockingly, the Birkenstock boots were still available, as were most of my other picks. Ironically, this makes me wonder if I have bad taste.</p> <p>Regardless, I ordered the Birk ankle boots (I simply adore Birkenstocks and have very high hopes for these) and a pair of OTK boots. I must be going crazy, as I DON'T WEAR OTK boots, especially ones with heels. I can't imagine these will work, but DH liked these (go figure!) so I decided to give them a go. I ordered two shift dresses (a shape that typically works for me), the Tahari leather jacket, and an interesting necklace. I have an outfit in mind for the necklace, as I can see it working very well with a black button down top. Last, I ordered a pair of animal print ankle boots. I don't want to get political, but let me just say I struggled with whether to order them (and still don't know if I can keep them, even if they fit).</p> <p>Anyway, the family and I are leaving for New Orleans tomorrow (hopefully tomorrow - we had a horrible storm last night and have a tree down that we need to do something about tomorrow morning). Our kids have seen a lot of US landmarks, but have not seen the South (Florida not withstanding), so we will tour a plantation, take a bayou tour, go on a ghosts and cemetery tour, see the aquarium, and have beignets at Cafe du Monde. NOLA isn't really a city for kids, but I love it there and have spent a lot of time there, so I am delighted to be going back.</p> <p>This means that I will not be able to actually see or try on my picks for over a week, but at least I got my order in! If anyone has seen any of these things IRL or has tried any of them, please feel free to comment - good or bad. I have no illusions that I will keep everything I ordered, but these were the things I had to see. </p>
