Thanks for the info, Elbyde!

Shana, while the number on the scale hasn't really budged, I am shrinking, as some tops I couldn't zip a few weeks back are now zipping. Yeah! (I have been running a lot lately).

But, the reality is that I will shrink the most in my shoulders, upper back, chest, around the bra band area... exactly the areas that fit perfectly right now and even a bit loose. Not so much in the mid-riff. Or, if I do shrink in the mid-riff, I will shrink a correspondingly bigger amount on top.. which will mean the jacket will fit a lot worse overall. :-(

I'm glad you brought that up, actually. I would probably do better with a jacket that was tight in the shoulders but fit good, not tight, in the waist. I will sleep on it overnight... but I'm now leaning towards returning it.

Shiny, I think the jacket looks great on you. It looks a little snug but should stretch out with wear (plus, since you said you are a little on the top of your range right now, it will probably be fine once you are back to normal). I guess the question is what kind of look are you going for? I am by no means a fashionista but personally, I find this style of moto jacket to be very trendy. It's totally hip right now and probably will be for another year or two. I actually remember when this style of jacket was last trendy back in the 90's - although the fit was not as feminine and streamlined back then. Anyway, if you want to be on the trendy side go for this style, if you want a more classic moto jacket, I think you are better off getting one that looks like Angie's (banded collar, straight zip instead of diagonal, zipper detailing).

Shiny,

I just wanted to comment on the return policy at NAS. When I was there the other day picking up two sizes of the YLF boot, I asked if I could return them within 30 days. And she said 'no'. I was confused at first and then she explained that as long as you have the receipt, you can return it whenever. Or if you lose the receipt, my shoes had another sticker that they could use to look up the number. Hope that helps!

I think the jacket looks good on you but understand your concerns. I'm petite too and on the look-out for a good leather jacket! I'm hoping AT and Banana have one soon!

~ Lori

GG, yes, it's the Hinge. If I have to alter the sleeves, which is likely unless I can find a petite, I can't go with something that zips. What is good about the ribbed knit is that the sleeves are tight instead of loose - makes my arms look skinny!

How long can you hold on to something before returning?

I dunno... maybe I'm not in love with it enough to keep it? I knew instantly that I wanted to keep the skirt and the purse - they were no-brainers.

Or is it that I'm just not used to the look on me? I can't figure that out. I know last fall I tried on an Aqua jacket, VERY similar to this, more than once... I think I tried it on 4 times... and then when it sold out of my size, I kicked myself. That one fit really well, it was more a hesitation about the general look on me. If it's a matter of getting used to the look, I may hold on to it so I don't kick myself again!

Actually probably the best-fitting moto jacket I tried on last season was the AT Bagatelle... but it only came in regular and the sleeves had zippers which couldn't be altered and they extended *far* past my fingertips! The rest fit great though. Sigh.

I also wonder about the sleeves, Jean. If this jacket gets a thumbs up, I'll hold on to it for a while, and wait and see for more store offerings.

Shiny,
Is that the Hinge jacket? I tried it on and loved it but I was worried about the inside of the sleeves pilling in a short amount of time. I think it looks great on you but I also think you might want to wait. I have yet to find the perfect one but is only July, bound to be more choices in the fall. I was at Second Time Around on Newbury yesterday and am hoping they will get some good ones in!!

Oh, yes, I *do* like it open. But I do need a jacket I can zip when it's cold out. However, the reality is that I usually unzip when I go inside or sit down anyhow. Hmmm... lots to think about! I also wonder if I simply look better in more of a bomber style, like the AT white pleather jacket? I may do better waiting for AT or BR to offer a petite leather jacket this fall.

I want to see Lena in it as well!

Angie, you have a great eye - that's exactly the issue. It is probably intended for a 25 inch waist and mine is more like 26 inches. I am wearing it right now, all zipped up, trying to see if it will loosen a bit; leather does usually stretch - I just don't know if it'll stretch where I need it to! But I do notice, when I leave the pockets unzipped, it is roomier.

I don't imagine I'd wear too many layers under it - it would be the top layer under cami and blouse or dress, no? Hmmm...

I love the jacket on you, and it's super flattering worn open, which I haven't come across too often (usually the motorcycle jackets are too boxy/flappy when I try them open). If you think it might stretch out with wear, I'd try to wear it around the house for a bit and see if it gets more comfortable for you before you return it.

I absolutely LOVE the look of the jacket open! To me that’s the KILLER option.

I can’t help but think that it looks too snug around the mid riff when it’s zipped up, which is why it’s riding up. This will feel worse when you sit down and wear a thicker layer underneath. I think it’s the perfect colour and length, though.

hi shiny, i am very new at all of this so my comments should be taken with a large grain of salt...
but i have been looking at leather jackets recently, so i have some thoughts on this!

i've found it difficult to find the right shape and cut to wear over a dress, but this one works!
...also, i'm picky about how a leather jacket looks open, since i like to wear them that way (unless it's too cold of course!), and this one looks really cute open as well.

i can't tell about the puffiness, maybe you should move around in it a bit and see if it acts up or not.

as for the stiffness, my husband has a jacket in a stiffer type of leather and it has really softened up beautifully, i think it looks cool.

Gosh, you look great in that, Shiny. It appears from the pics that it fits you very well. Love the contrast of your blonde hair with the black, too. I found with my tight leather moto type jacket I got last fall that it really softened with wear. Like the heat of the body seems to do something to break in the leather, like with boots, and then the jacket actually felt like it fit me better in places, like no riding up, etc. I vote keep!

I have the problem a lot with riding up with anything structured and fitted at the waist. Maybe it's a bit too long between shoulders and waist so that zipping it forces the jacket up to your waist and everything else rises with it, creating extra on top of the shoulder. For me, I always thought this happened because I'm too small busted to fill out the fabric in the chest area, but now think being short waisted is the problem.

The length is maybe the issue - the bottom of jacket hitting you right at waist is making the jacket ride up a bit? Probably more noticable when you are sitting.

If the jacket isn't comfortable and you are worried about the riding up then return it. It looks fantastic on you and a great edgy style but it's all about how you feel in it too.

Hope others can chime in on this.

Ignore the fact this is over a summery sun dress; I do want to be able to wear this sort of jacket over a dress, not just with jeans. What do you think - is this a keeper? I only want to keep if you all think it is Killer. Obviously it would need the sleeves shortened, but it could be done on this one.

I am worried that it may be a tad too loose in the shoulders. I don't know if you can see it in these pics, but it sometimes poofs up funny in the shoulders. I think it is due to a length, rather than the width. I.e., when I zip it up, it rides up a bit, if you can imagine that. I do wonder if it will loosen up a bit and if that might solve that issue. I don't know.

Also ignore my face and double chin. :-)

I'll check back in tonight - thanks!
