I like them both too. Lengths look fab to my eye. The moto looks best worn open.

I like them both, especially the moto opened. I may have to check out that moto, it looks like a great piece.

I'm wearing the XL in the moto, so there is no size up unfortunately. I agree that a top that is longer and contrasting to the pants will probably make it look better. But I think I am likely to want to wear it a lot of the time over a simple knit tee rather than a woven blouse, so I don't know if it's versatile enough to be a keeper.

I tried it over the Pleione mixed media tunic that was also a NAS pick and that just made me realized I've gotta return the tunic - way too much drawing attention to the midsection in an unflattering way.

Both look good on you, although I agree that the moto looks a bit snug in the arms and shoulders in the photo. That could just be the photo though. You could always try the next size just to see. Which are you likely to reach for? You sound like you prefer the style of the moto.

Can you have someone else take a pic of you? It may very well indeed be your mirror - OR the mirrors at Nordstrom's!! I have noticed they tilt their mirrors, which makes everyone look taller and slimmer. It makes me not want to buy anything in the store, only online. I trust my mirrors at home a lot more.

But otherwise, to my eye, based on these photos, I think both look fine. The moto jacket may be just a *tad* small, but it's hard to tell in this picture. I might be tempted to try the next size up just to compare, but less for the length (where it's hitting on your high hip looks about right to me). It just looks a tad tight to me in the shoulders and arms, and perhaps the sleeve length is a bit short? Ultimately it depends on how you prefer the fit.

That said, can you try the moto open over a long, untucked or semi-tucked blouse? Similar to how the model is wearing it? That extra bit of white top poking out makes a difference, I think, when you are going with a shorter topper. I also bought this blouse from NAS (in the blush color) and really like how it looks under the moto, worn messily semi-tucked or completely untucked and flowing loosely -- structure over unstructured:

Thanks for the thoughtful replies, ladies! I am still reeling from how the moto looked in photos - definitely different than what I had in my mind's eye. Tags are still on and there's no rush to decide, I suppose. The sleeves, BTW, are definitely snug, but they don't feel uncomfortable since it's a stretchy sweater knit.

I prefer the grey but both are good! The first one fits like the model, so I think length is correct. I just prefer the style of the moto.

I don't have a very sensitive eye for length, but I've noticed that the proportions of things when you look in a mirror are very different than a photo taken lower down or from further away (I especially notice this with short skirts).

That said I think the length of both looks fine to me. With the moto it looks like maybe it's a little too tight? I'm mainly basing this on how form-fitting the arms appear to be in the photo.

The moto looks about the same length on you as it does on the model and I think it's very flattering, especially unzipped.
In comparison the first jacket looks a bit plain, but it would have a lot of styling options and could end up being a workhorse basic for you.

...i.e. do I have a length perception problem?

As I posted before, I got both these jackets @ NAS preselection in person. When I saw them in the fitting room I thought the knit blazer was good if maybe a little too long and the knit moto was just the right length. Today I had some time to try on recent fall purchases and 'check my math', and when I took pictures the knit blazer instantly looked the right length, and the knit moto was too short.

A) what do you think and B) am I just focusing on the wrong things when I'm looking in the mirror? It occurs to me as a long-torsoed person that maybe I'm just too used to tops and jackets being a bit too short? Or I'm just concentrating on the look from the waist up and not focusing on the proportions which are clearer in a photo? I am really torn about the moto because it feels lovely on, but I am unsure if it's flattering at this length, even if I plan to wear it most of the time unzipped.
