Hi Janet. Hope all is well.

I'm in love with the jacket. Must go check it out at my Nordstrom. Glad you kept it.

It has been VERY hot on the East Coast. Heatwave after heatwave. Hang in there. Or come back to Seattle....

Update!

I finally got a chance to show my husband the final two items I had narrowed my order down to. I had already decided to return the piped top. For some reason — maybe the fabrication, maybe it just lacked the edge I wanted — I wasn’t feeling like “OMG I want to wear this” so back it went.

After a session with the steamer, the dress hangs really nicely, and it doesn’t crease to a distracting amount when I sit and stand in it, which was a concern for me. It skims nicely and strikes the right balance between bodycon and shapeless. But the clincher was when I showed it to my husband his reaction was an enthusiastic yes. So it’s a keeper!

He also loved the grey jacket. I have the ties looped as in the stock photo, so they don’t dangle so much, which solves that issue.

And that’s it for my NAS!

Weighing in quite late: To my eye, the piped top doesn't look like YOU. For some reason, it gives me an old person vibe. And you can (and have) done much better than the dress. Your gut is talking to you; listen to it.

The gray jacket and striped non-NAS top are fab, fab, fab. THAT's what you want!

Laurie, that’s pretty! Thanks for the link — might be worth attempting a try-on. It’s really hard to find a *gently* fitted dress, one that isn’t too tent-like. The colors are gorgeous.

I’m still pondering the piped top and the dress. I need to try on for hubs. I’m not 100% sold on the fabric of the top — it’s a little shiny-polyester and I have concerns about quality. I steamed the dress and think it hangs better now but will try on for hubs now that he’s home.

I wore the blue and white top/jacket yesterday and got compliments on it. It’s cool and breezy but with coverage — fun to wear!

Given my new love for marbling, when I saw that dress on Angie's finds it caught my eye and I instantly thought of you! I see how you're on the fence, but the fabric is so pretty.

It's all your colors! It's very long on me, and I just ordered a size down, but I bet it would be perfect length for you.

I had a doctor appointment today near an actual Nordstrom, so I popped in to see if any sale (or otherwise) items jumped out at me. Nothing appealed. The colors in store are very muted and it was not terribly inspiring, I’m sorry to say.

There was a rack full of those burgundy Vince blouses — apparently it’s not as popular fit.

But you're wearing it and what I'm seeing in still pictures may very well not be the case in real life. If you enjoy wearing it and like how it looks on you, keep it! I'm all on Team Dress!

Janet, I especially like the last blouse on you! Your energy just popped off the page in the picture! The jacket reminds me of a Mark Anthony jacket I bought for my husband several years back...I was always jealous of the weight and style, LOL!

I tried on the Vince blouse in store...so big! So low! I didn't think it was going to fit...I'm 5'6" but shoulder to bust, I'm so short. So you can only imagine! I'm looking for a blouse that color too to go with these pants, https://www.nordstrom.com/s/pi.....ts/7519742...you know if they even end up fitting!

I love the burgundy color for you, but if the blouse doesn’t work, there will be more opportunities to get something that does in that color.
The black top is great, easy for now, and perfect for later

Love the grey jacket, and I’m not bothered by the pull strings, I’d probably wear it was you have it in 15, but you could also just add a small knot.
the non NAS top is fab. The colors are great, and love the cropped fit, and the slightly oversized and body fit, it’s just oversized enough and boxy in sort of architectural way. Looks so much more interesting on you vs the model.

Like the dress, but if you feel its a maybe than I’ve found it should be a no.

I have to admit with the dress that I didn’t think it looked that great when you have other dresses you look awesome in. It’s crumpled and I wonder about the fit around the hip area (first two photos of dress). Because all the first replies were so positive ( including Angie’s) I hesitated to say so. That’s a thing with the forum, it’s hard to be the first person who doesn’t like something. I get that “if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all” feeling. Kudos to Jaime for being brave!
Do you still have other summer dresses that you feel great in that are not getting too worn yet? However once it’s pressed and you get your husband’s opinion, you might be more sure one way or the other. You’re also so skilled with your shoe and accessory game you can make most items look amazing!

Lisa, yeah, I can definitely see that -- and I'm going to be picky about this dress because I've fallen into the dress trap so many times. Buy an inexpensive dress because I like the print at the time and it fits, wear it a handful of times, and then pass it on...not the best model of sustainability or style. It's really hard to find the right avant-garde lite look that works for me, especially since I'm trying not to do so much black, and so many dresses are sacklike now. Or too fussy, too officey, too girlie... I'm so picky!

What's the fibre content? You wear a avant-garde lite look so well (your Z + Maria pieces) that this seems not quite you. But I'm not supposed to be on the forum anyways so ......... ;)

Mary Beth, you make a good point — the pattern placement on the dress varies quite a bit from one to another. The other size I tried on had very different placement — there was more purple around the top. I could try ordering another one to see if the placement makes a difference. I think perhaps I’m wearing the wrong bra here too. But I don’t want to have to work hard to make a summer dress work. I’ve made that mistake too many times. It does feel pretty good on. It’s really hard to find a *gently fitted* summer dress that fits my other criteria of length, bra-friendliness, color, etc.

Robin, I’d love to be able to wear the grey jacket now, but it is quite heavy and warm! It’s 100+ here these days. The jacket is definitely for October through March.

I love your picks! I agree that the black and white top, gray jacket, and non NAS top are keepers. I do like the dress so I'm curious to hear what you decide.

But what a good idea to do the Nordstrom Rack pickup so you can do returns on the spot. I'm kicking myself for not doing so, also because they would have Air Conditioning and I will be doing all my try-ons at home without it. Never my favorite part of shopping this sale since I moved away from a city that had a Nordstrom.

Love love love the piped top and Rails jacket (jacket is my very favorite because you look so bright and clear in it!)

I quite like the striped top, but does it slide around in a fussy way? The button placket looks shifted to one side, maybe because you’re taking a photo.

I loved the color and texture of the Vince top on you, but the cut and fit kind of mute your artist energy. Gorgeous color on you, though!

The dress. Ohhhh the dress. I want so much to love it, but the stripe placement is driving me a little batty. But the colors themselves are beautiful. Mermaid-y. I vote keep it if it’s making you feel happy!

This is great feedback!

I get the split opinions on the dress. It’s not super high quality but I have to admit it’s better than I expected since it’s such a low price point (and not a high end brand at all). I will probably steam it and see if hubs has an opinion when he gets home later this week.

Funny that my true slam dunk of the whole order is the non-NAS item. The Rails jacket would be my next favorite and the item that would have to wait months to be worn. Part of the real proof for these particular sale items is whether I want to wear them right away!

The grey jacket is my favourite piece here followed by the black and white top. You look great in everything, but I think that is more reason to be fussy and only buy what you love.

I love the last blouse on you and the jacket. I would just cut off the strings on the jacket, I think they are a bit distracting. Not sure about the dress. I can see why the pattern has appeal but, like Suz, I’d like to see it pressed. What a shame about the lovely burgundy top.

Ok. I love the last top/ jacket non-NAS item -- unique and special and it looks as if it can be worn in a variety of ways.

I also really like the grey jacket. Quality looks great. I am sure there must be away to deal with the ties. You could simply take them out. Or, you could cut them off where you want and knot or seal them so they don't dangle but just sit at the outside edge of the hole, if you know what I mean. Or knot/ loop them.

The dress -- I'm iffy. I love it in theory for you. But I would like to see it pressed. There is something about the way it hangs in the photos hat doesn't feel quite right to me. Having said that, I love the. overall shape and the slit and the pattern/ colours on you. So it has potential. Especially since I know useful summer dresses are in your climate.

I am sorry about the Vince top. Vince does make that particular burgundy from time to time -- this year they also have the knit items. And then there was the shirtdress a number of us got years ago, that I had made into a blouse two years back. I guess I'm saying it is worth watching Vince in particular, and also other makers, obviously, for that particular tone.

I sympathize about the colours available this year. I love blue and white and grey but I am getting a bit sick of those as my only options (and then only if I am lucky/ diligent.)

Pipped top and the marbled blue dress - great new pieces! I like the roomy striped blouse - perfect on you ( can't judge the Rails' jacket - it's too hot to even think about fall season dressing ;-) ).

I particularly like the piped top. Interesting on that last top that it is one size. And though burgundy is a good color for you, I feel you can do better than the Vince top, so I'm glad you'll keep an eye out for one.

It's tough to try on winter clothes in the middle of summer! That's why it's nice to find items in the sale that work for right now.

I love the jacket, piped top and last blouse... To me that jacket is a really good smart casual piece - super useful to throw on - good for travel etc.. Nice tops that stand alone or work under a jacket are one of my most useful pieces....and not so easy to find. And the last blouse will be so good with jeans and pants and shorts - brilliant find.

I agree on the blouse - maybe a sweater or even a long sleeve tee in this colour could be awesome for you? It is annoying when a colour is just tricky to locate!

I don't know with the dress - I like it - but I don't love it.

The burgundy top disappoints me too. Love the color but the NAS photo didn't look quite right to me. I do like all the other items you kept, especially the gray jacket and the piped top.
