It could be a question of getting a size up on the Melissa skirt - but you have to love it, Barbara.

Missoni should not itch!

I was going to suggest the same skirt as nomadicliz, if you're looking for a black skirt with some length.

That's a great attitude! You are smart to try on unexpected styles/colors and I'm glad you found some pieces you love. The scarf is beautiful but itchy is NOT a good quality in a scarf! I really like that print skirt as it reminds me of my pattern coat from last year, but if it doesn't fit or you don't love it then you made good decisions.

JAileen, thanks for showing me your scarf and explaining how to make it.
It is very beautiful. I would never have guessed that it wasn't extremely challenging. More food for thought.

Suz, thanks for commenting so often. I think in the very beginning I thought everyone was purchasing a million things and I was the only one who was not. I realized this was not the case, and I am finding most of what I need, and I've been trying on things I never expected to. And I've bought some unexpected items I really love.
And I'll have almost a year to figure out how to do NAS next year.

How frustrating about the scarf in particular! I know you were looking forward to that. Forum member Lisa tried the Missoni poncho and said it was itchy, too. Sounds like a quality control issue -- poor choice of materials.

Too bad about the skirts and the other items as well, but I like that you are holding out for things that you know you will wear and love.

Here's mine. It's all knit, no purl. Very very easy, with two variegated yarns. There is a knit two together, and a knit in front and back in each repeat. Those make the zig zags. Your mom could knit this easily, or she could teach you to knit it!

Thanks so much for the advise JAileen. Slow but steady still results in a scarf. I'm sort of waiting to see if it will live on top of a coat (as yet unfound), so the itching won't matter. I am sensitive to almost all wool. My mom is a beginner knitter; she mostly does just knits? pearls? straight across in variegated yarn, so mine would look nothing like this.

nomadicliz, thanks for the suggestion. I thought it would fit the same, so I didn't try it.

if a Midi length skirt works for you, maybe try the Sejour Mini Ottoman Tube skirt?
I found it well made and really forgiving of bumps and bulges (disguised my non baby belly pooch really well)
was comfortable for me too- no squeezing or pinching.

The Missoni scarf is itchy? That's a fail in my book, no matter how pretty it is. And it is pretty. I would never wear an itchy scarf.

I started knitting a faux Missoni in July. I'll be knitting it for some time. I only have about five inches knitted so far..

Handbags-As much as I love my expandable black one, I finally decided to return the bilberry longchamp le pilage. I originally picked it up because I'd considered it last year also and because it would go with the Halogen coat I was considering. But I'm not getting the coat, and after 1 1/2 years of wear, my black le pilage still looks new, and the bilberry isn't enough of a color change to justify it. With it's expandability I'd hate to be without one, but I should wait at least another year. And I have a non expandable one also.
Sweaters- As much as I liked the idea of it, I'm returning the Vince Camuto. I have trouble with wool, and it is slightly itchy. And I have a black lace overlay top that will work for the same situations. I was tempted to wear it with a tank or cami and leggings and buttoned up like a dress.
I'm waiting for the arrival of the Angie's pick Halogen cardigan in two sizes. The black was no longer available. I'm hoping once I see which size works and if it looks good I can track down the black. And I will try this color on with my clothes to see if it is useful.
Skirts- The Vince Camuto-the SA said it fit, but I ordered it one size up also. The problem-it is very fitted over my stomach. I can only wear it with a very long top that if I raise my arms would not show my stomach. It fits like a maternity dress that is designed to proudly show off a baby bump. But no baby bump here. Considering holding onto until I find a better option as I am also maybe still losing weight. Love that Nordstrom's return policy. It is still available in both sizes, so I don't feel like I'm keeping someone else from getting it.
Melissa McCarthy-Angie's pick. The same problem as the Vince Camuto except it was like wearing a tight girdle. I checked the size chart and I ordered the correct size. But this was way too tight. And I still don't love it/it's just not quite me.
M Missoni Scarf- I still LOVE the colors and pattern, still bugged by the wool being a little itchy, still a lot of $ for me. May wait to see what coat and other fall/winter purchases I make, may take to the yarn store to pick similar colors of yarn and ask my mom to knit me a scarf....still don't know, but the colors are fabulous with my hair color.
