I should maybe try it anyway, Colette, especially if you need a basic white blouse. The tie is detachable, so you can "fuss it up" when you feel like it. I would have played around with it more as a potential layering piece if the fit had worked out better.

Great run down. The sizing on that Topshop sweatshirt made me laugh. I'll keep my fingers crossed on the adidas twinset for you, I do think the tee looks good. I was thinking about that bow blouse because it looked so great on the model but the last thing I need is fussy.

I find the miss reviews and picks just as helpful as the wins, thanks for taking the time to photo and post, it really is very helpful. I adore that pink color on you, it's a great shade.

I totally agree with all your decisions except maybe for the tan vest. I think you need to try it styled in a different way and see. It would be really cohesive with your hair and could be an interesting 3rd piece.

So frustrating that all those other cool "statementy" things are overwhelming. This is the problem i have, too, with being on the shorter side. Grrrr.

The Adidas could be great, though -- crossing fingers the twinset works.

I think the adidas looks AWESOME on you. The diagonal arms and the curved hem are flattering on you. Really youthful and fun. As long as your entire wardrobe isn't athleisure (and I can see that it's not) I think this is a great addition!
I think 4 is really a nice shape on you but would have to be worn with something else underneath, I think, like...yah, I don't know what, tbh. And it does look like it would be fussy if it were left undone. But a nice shape.

Angie (and anyone), any idea how I could style the tan vest to get a little more excited about it? Looking at my photos again, I can see it looks good and I know it was also a favorite of the SAs.

I'm actually kind of embarrassed now that I am not totally anonymous in the forum, LOL. I thought no one in town would discover my spendy and obsessive ways. I hope my secret is safe with you!

I had a similar experience with the Topshop sweatshirt. Truefit is usually pretty accurate for me, but they said I should get a 4 (I'm usually a 2). So I've ordered the 2 to see how that is, but the material is very substantial and it just might be too warm for my PNW environment.

The vests and plaid jacket look really nice on you, for what it's worth, but yep--when you know things won't work, that's that. YLF has really helped so many of us to say no to things that don't hit all the requirements!

The only one that gave me pause that you should keep is the tan vest. If it just doesn't feel like you I get it but it looks great.

I agree with you on the bowtie blouse, it just doesn't look like it works very well. I like the black vest, it looks quite flattering in the pictures, and the beige vest looks nice too, although maybe just not your style? It does look quite plain. (Is the egr in your name East Grand Rapids? I live in GR - fun to find a local :))

Oh I love the idea of that foil sweatshirt so much, but they kind of missed on execution, I think. I'm baffled by the Topshop sizing. I just reordered a sweater 3 sizes down hoping it will come in at "nicely oversized" when it shows up.

Since I've found all reviews and photos helpful, even of things people didn't like, here are pics and reviews of items from the first pass that I was less sure about or outright rejected. The jury is still out, so feel free to weigh in. You made me feel great yesterday, so if there's no good news today, I can definitely handle it. (Booties are the Rag & Bone Fringe Margot from the sale.)

Photo 1 and 2: Frame "Le Bowtie" blouse, size M. This isn't really my style. Too fussy. Nice material, but I found the bow difficult to tie prettily (ironically, this was the best I did in several attempts). It ran large, which I liked in general, but it was also too big vertically from shoulder to bust -- see how low the darts hit me in photo 2? This leads me to believe the blouse is better for someone taller.

Photo 3: Helene Berman open fringe jacket, size L (I think). I was trying placate myself for being too short for the holiday-color long vest, but this is overwhelming for me, too. I think sizing down might be too snug in the bust.

Photo 4, 5, 6: Joie "Ligiere B" print wrap vest, size L. Kinda cool but I also think it's also too fussy, since it must be worn closed and has that big portrait neckline when you do. You can see in photo 6 that it doesn't waterfall when open -- the shape is just weird that way. Runs a little small and comes with a belt that felt and looked cheap and that wouldn't fit my body type anyway.

Photo 7 and 8: Lafayette Suede and Wool Vest, size M. I highly recommend this if it suits you but it made me feel matronly and like an art teacher. The back is paneled suede.

Photo 9 and 10: Topshop Foil Brushed Sweatshirt. This ran huge! It said this size was appropriate for US 10-12 but I can easily size down, even for an oversized look. TruFit had me needing an even larger one!

Photo 11: Adidas Pavao t-shirt, size L. I think I'm between sizes on this one. This is the larger size but I am not comfortable in the smaller and there is no give to the fabric. I'm not at all sure about the style (and I am not much of an exerciser) but that hasn't kept me from leaving it on since I took the photos. The jacket is on its way so I will see how the "twinset" looks.
