The debit has the same exact perks as the credit card. If you spend $100 the day you open the card, you automatically earn a $20 Nordstrom Note (like gift certificates to use at the store). As I understand it (but you should confirm if this is an issue for you) applying for the mod card does not require a credit check. Personally, I like it because it keeps me honest - money's gotta be in the bank to cover it!
