Vintage dawn - That’s exactly why I shared. I could not believe no one ever mentioned this. It’s such an easy and relatively cheap insurance policy against damage!! I will be telling everyone I can hoping it helps someone else in the long run.

Ugh, I'm so sorry what a nightmare! Thank you for the rec on the whole house surge protector, I'm going to talk to my partner about it. It's frustrating when you learn about something simple like that that could have made a huge difference!

Aquamarine - Thanks so much. GL with your electrical. Hope all goes smoothly. Yes! If you don’t have a surge protector on your boards it would be a small addition but it could save you big in the long run. But my workmen knew about it, so if your DH is electrical savvy I’m hoping you already have it. But definitely worth confirming.

Firecracker - I got super lucky to get early repair appts. Honestly I usually have to wait a week or more. Plus I’m a regular w both companies. The techs were my usual guys who I know well. So they really try and take care of me and I always try and be super nice and appreciative of them. The cycle of goodness. Plus I got really lucky that only one part was broken on each (I hope). But I can’t wait for the surge protectors now. It could have been much much worse. I’ll just enjoy a small splurge at NAS and be grateful my freezer is freezing and my air is blowing. So I will enjoy even more seeing everyone’s gorgeous goodies! Hope everyone has a brilliant sale!!

Glad you got the AC and freezer repaired already, and I hope the freezer passes its test over the next couple of days without a new condenser.

What an ordeal. You regrouped with an admirable shortened NAS list of well curated quality items. Here's hoping the boots are winners for you!

Roberta - Thank you. So kind. It’s been the year for it. Boiler needed to be replaced January. Computer hard drive died 3 wks ago. Just got a new one. Now this. Fortunate it’s stuff. It can be fixed. Just a lot all at once. But we will get through it. So on one hand, don’t want to buy for me. OTOH want something really nice. Self soothing behavior like eating a bag of Twix bar. Neither would be good for me but certainly either would feel good in the moment!!
Angie - That’s great to know. I just have to see if height is comfy. But I do love the look and heel makes them rate dressy for my style.
Suz - I love your plaid boots. If they had been been black/gray/white I would have been all over them. So glad you have them. Hoping you find a great cobbler to maintain them. It’s a dying art
Bijou - Thank you. Hoping the heel is comfortable. I really can do herls any more
Kkards - Thank you. If you can put in surge protectors I would if you can manage. If it’s not the freezer it’s the computer or large tv. Too spendy!!
Staysfit - Thanks so much. I’ll be reviewing “the damage”. A/C repaired. My amazing subzero guys squeezed me in. Hoping it’s just the inverter and not the condenser too (I’d been sitting out shopping a long time for that). Plus surge protectors. Because all my self soothing genes want a new “toy” but forbearance and prudence is needed…
Karen - Nordstrom makes dress shirts. My husband wears one everyday and they last. It’s ink or elbow tears eventually. But worthy. I was told the surge protectors are not too spendy. I’ll know Monday. We have a fair amount of blackouts. Not these surges. A generator is great too if you can budget it.
Lisa - Thank you!! Hoping the boots work. I could use a he higher heel for sure. But I tell you, stress, man I’m craving a shopping dopamine fix!! Hope you are well. Great to catch you on!!
Lisa - Thank you. My freezer guy just left. We need to give it 2 days to make sure the condenser functions but he thinks we got off lucky with just the inverter. Now onto the surge protectors. Amazing how grateful I am got cool air and ice!!

Those look like nice shirts.

What a drag, that happening at your house! Thanks for pointing this out. We don't have whole house A/C yet but are thinking about it. We have had a few blackouts since I moved out here, mostly tree branches hitting power lines or mylar balloons going up into the power lines. There has been talk about brownouts during some heat waves. I haven't noticed it happening but it could, with the stress these heat waves put on the grid.

PSA pre- NAS - Life has a way of changing your well thought out NAS priorities! Tuesday night we had 2.5 hr of brown outs/power outages every 6 minutes. As much as we have a full house back up generator but the outages lasted less than 1 second so it never had time to kick in. Outcome - the constant voltage surges fried my upstairs a/c (we are having 100 deg heat wave) and my subzero freezer (which was packed and the contents were a total loss). Despite having done a major renovation and having many home upgrades no one ever mentioned or asked me if I wanted a "whole house surge protector." They can put a surge protector on each of your electrical panels (the equipment is just over $100 or so per board not including your electrician's mark up and labor costs). So due to the tragic weather, disaster situations we've all been reading about I wanted to put this out there. You can, for a very reasonable fee, protect all your appliances and save yourself from major repairs. I hope this helps someone because I would absolutely have had this done if I had know it was available. A/C is now repaired, freezer needs a part coming next week and hoping the condenser survived because that's a huge repair. So I kind of lost my mojo for NAS.

So ofc, last night at midnight was my start of NAS. I bought the Nordstrom white dress shirts (8) for DH as he wears them to work. They have doubled in price since I started purchasing years ago. Still spendy at the sale price but well work it. I bought the PG balboa moto boots (I have the bobbi moto boots from a previous NAS which I adore. Down to $1/wear) the Balboa have a higher heel (thank you Angie for measuring the platform). I'm hoping it's not too high but they would be a probable workhorses. I also bought the barefoot dreams cozychic rib throw to replace a beloved and a back up on Uggs whitecap fleece throw in denim. I run cold so very practical. I think I'm done. Waiting to see the total damage from the a/c/freezer/surge protector debacle. But I'm really wishing everyone good luck and excited to see your pieces. Hope you enjoy. Tapping into everyone's happy!! Wishing everyone cool, frozen, safe weekends and lots of fun at the sale!!
