Ooh, a southwest Florida YLF group! I live 1 1/2 hours north of Naples, and Dee has it right. It's been crazy warm in high 80s and 90s until this week, so it's hard to say this winter. I am so tired of wearing shorts and short sleeves! Usually, at this time of year I can wear pants, closed toed shoes and use a sweater or jacket. That said, there always seems to be an errant shorts and sandals day or two in December or January. Even long sleeved tops can feel really hot here. 72F in Florida feels so much warmer than 72 in New York. Latitude? Humidity? Not sure, but the winter is the greatest weather, compared to blizzards! I just use a shell with hood for rain. It can be a short sun shower, or an hours long deluge, but rarely all day at this time of year. Aaach, now that I've said that, it will rain for days! Welcome to sunny south Florida

I live less than an hour north of Naples and I can tell you that right now it is unseasonably warm and humid. The temps are running in the 80s though I understand that in the next few days it will be in the 70s during the days and in the 60s in the evenings and then back up to the 80s for Thanksgiving. It is probably always more humid here than you might expect even when it is cooler. Many of us who live here all year are fed up with the never ending heat that has lasted since April. It is typically dry in early December -- though "cold fronts" can bring rain in with cooler weather. You can forget about your cold weather garb; many here do not even own a coat unless we travel to cooler climates regularly. On "cold" days, I can usually manage with pants or jeans, ankle boots, and a denim jacket or sweater. If you would like any more info or have any questions, I would be happy to try to assist you.

DH and I will be travelling to Naples, FL, in early December. While I have looked up average temperatures, it is still very different from being there. I am wondering if anyone here is familiar with that area of FL that time of year and how warm we should expect things to be.

We had our first snow last night, so it is difficult to get into the warm weather mindset again when I have finally hauled out the winter coats and boots! What sort of attire do you recommend for Naples in early December? Is it typically rainy or dry that time of year? Humid or dryer?
