I looked up the definition of Euro chic and it seems to apply. I haven't read any of the books you are suggesting. I went back and looked at my magazine clippings from fashion magazines and for decorating ideas, my Pinterest boards, and my closet items and I considered the fabrics I like, and my lifestyle. Then I wrote down a ton of words that seemed to have commonality in all those areas ans sorted them.

It's the last word, either SIMPLE, or CLASSIC that I am struggling with, but I think SIMPLE is the better choice. It encompasses the genereal lack of pattern or minimal pattern except in the accessories which are arty/eclectic. It also encompasses my taste for fewer details and an an unfussy look.

Suz, thanks for suggesting the books. I don't often second guess myself, because I learned with multiple choice tests that your first answer is often the most correct. However, I may still go back and read them to see if my adjectives could be refined. It may also help me put them to use.

I am writing them down on a card and hanging them in my closet. I'm also putting them in my memo/note section of my phone, with the questions I need to ask myself about purchases before making them. Hopefully I will remember to look at my phone!

It is a personal process, and one that you'll probably revisit.

Many of us have followed along with some of Angie's blog posts on the subject. Some have read and done the exercises in a book called "Style Statement." Some have brainstormed on their own. Some have read or gone through a book called "The Triumph of Individual Style." And some have asked for feedback on their Pinterest boards or on their own outfits and been given a moniker by Angie and other forum members (which, of course, they are free to accept or reject.)

Some people find that a "style persona" is easier to work with than the five adjectives. Whatever works for you to help move you in the direction you want to go, is good.

After some time working on my style adjectives, I have come up with a few. It's been a tough process, but I thought I would jot down the start of my thinking and then sleep on it.

EASY - meaning casual/comfortable/approachable, all very important features for me
CREATIVE - this takes in my arty and Boho tendencies, and my enjoyment of creative hobbies like knitting, decorating, my love of color, etc.
CALM - this is for my preference for warm muted colors and low contrast ensembles. I also think it is for understated elegance.
GRACEFUL -this is the feminine, but also the athletic. It's also for my love of light weight items, refinement and polish.

The last word to include is tough, and I can't decide if it should be SIMPLE, or CLASSIC. Here is where I need some sleep and more thought. Six words may be too many.

I wonder how others might go about finding their style adjectives. It is such a personal process so I don't know if it's something people would like to share?

While reading I was thinking straight modern classic but to me the picture reads a bit casual euro-chic.

Modern classic can be tough because it is such a broad category. I think most people are a little modern classic at least some of the time. That is why the personal adjectives can be super helpful.

Unfrumped, you make an excellent point. I see the style monikers (ie. Boho, modern classic, etc.) as separate from personal adjectives. I am definitely working to come up come up with some. It's a slow process. My first step is pulling together some visual information from multiple resources. I plan to come up with adjectives that describe the commonalities, and then I will see how they fit my lifestyle.

There are style categories( classic; boho) and then there are personal adjectives , You might have fun doodling some lists of adjectives that speak to how you look and feel( or would like to).

Thanks for the input. I'm trying to figure out what all these style monikers mean, and with so many to choose from I thought it would help to narrow it down to a few that were most relevant for me so I could get started to if they really apply and feel right.

I'm pretty sure my jewelry thing is Boho. I may not be able to wear the large flows layers but i can get some of the effect this way.

The multiple pieces of jewelry and scarves makes me think of boho a little bit, as do the shoes you're wearing in the picture. But your haircut and the way you describe your basic pieces are modern classic, casual edition, I would say. Boho modern casual?

I am currently working to better define and understand my style, and I have recently added two new silhouettes for variety. Learning that I am a rectangle and not a pear may also effect my style choices over time. For now, I am planning to evaluate my current wardrobe before making any more changes. Because I am so new to evaluating style, and figuring all this out, I thought I would ask for your help.

I think I have a "uniform". Most days I dress in some variant of jeans, they could be straight leg, or skinny, colorful, white or blue. I don't own boyfriend, cargo or boot leg jeans. I tend to dress in smart casual clothing. I rarely wear slacks, but I like to wear skirts and dresses. My tops are typically some variant of solid color crew necks. The sleeve length varies as does the fit. I add a scarf or maybe instead I will layer some necklaces. My signature is to always wear multiple bangles. Earrings could be studs or dangles depending on mood and the ensemble. I am a shoe and boot fiend. I have a hard time finding blazers and long sleeve jackets that fit, so I rarely wear them. Most of my toppers are cardigan sweaters and I push up the sleeves. I don't like clothing that feels heavy or stiff. I need to be able to move quickly in my line of work, so any clothing that is tight or binding is out of the question.

One new silhouette added is pencil skirts worn with loose fluid blouses. (It's interesting that I still feel like I can move quickly in these skirts, I really love them.) I have also tried fluid tops over leggings, but someone pointed out that I need to purchase more appropriate ponte pants. Since it is No Spend September, that is on hold for now.

Is there a name for this style type? Is this a mix?
