I consistently wear soft pales, like a ballet pink on my nails and more vivid or intense colors on my toes, depending on the time of year.

Though I can also appreciate AntjeH's comment about matching colors for a special occasion.

While I agree with the general sentiment of the colors not having to match (and I personally rarely paint my finger nails), I do think that for a special occasion a dramatic matching color on toe and finger nails can be striking and provide a great touch of drama or funk. E.g., I love bright red toe and finger nails with a little black dress for a special party.

I agree with you all! I'm the same in that I don't paint my nails much and keep them shorter and buffed...and I love fun colors on the toes! When I do paint my fingers it's generally just a basic french for a wedding or something.

This is music to my ears ladies. Your fingers and toe colours do not need to match.

I don't paint my finger nails either. I'm very Euro that way. I keep my nails short and buffed and make sure I put sunscreen and moisturizer on my hands every day. I do like to paint my toes unconventional colours like blue and green though. As juvenile and awful as it may sound, it somehow works with my style and matches my eyes when I wear open shoes.

I agree w/Dancingstar.... As a matter of fact, I think matching finger and toe nail polish might look a little too contrived.

I don't paint my fingernails--but I like subtle soft colors (clear, french, pale pink) on hands, and fun bright colors on toes.

I think that it doesn't have to match, and that it shouldn't if a color is strong (e.g. dark red). I tend to keep colors on my hands very neutral/nude, but use deep/bright polish colors on my feet.

Should nail polish on hands and feet match? (ie. red on both) Are complementary colours acceptable? (such as pale pink on hands and a deeper pink on feet)
Thanks
