At one stage I had a regular appointment at the salon for gel overlays with a french manicure. It got a bit expensive though and I decided the money could be better used elsewhere. </p> <p>I battle to wear nail polish on my hands - it barely lasts a day before it's chipped and ugly so I rarely bother unless it is a special occasion. But I used to be a bartender and felt like my hands were on display.</p> <p>Now, I'm learning to play guitar so my nails are super short and totally plain.Nail polish would get destroyed.</p> <p>I am amazed by people that can actually do their own nail art. This is probably right up his alley.</p> <p>You'd die if you saw my nails. I never do them. I couldn't care less about my own nails, and of course they are ragged and somewhat unattractive. Once in a blue moon I'll paint them navy blue or black, but I never remember to take it off until it's all chipped into little tiny islands in the middle of each finger. I painted them black one time last year, and one of my thumbs developed a replica of Australia, complete with an island for New Zealand on the correct side! (Only one island, not two, but still. In terms of fingernails - I keep it pretty simple - just buff my nails, apply some almond oil where needed and that's pretty much all.
