I err on saying no, a neckline alteration does not sound like a standard tailoring request, are you ok if the dress alteration does not work out? (ie if the dress will only sit if it's not altered, get the alteration but if it is still wearable and you don't want to risk, then pass)

There is no gathering but there is a nylony (like slip material) lining. I adore the dress, but with a jacket over it the neckline seems to ride up. I'll post some photos for you all to see, both of the neckline on me and of the dress close-up.

Seems risky. How good is your seamstress? I would consider this high risk surgery on a very expensive dress. I thought it looked pretty hot on you, esp with those hard core grey boots. I could see it with a leather jacket too.

Hm, it looks risky to me. It's a little hard to see with the pattern if there is some gathering at the neckline - and is it lined?

But all that's left is the size 3.... ( or 8)

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/te.....sultback=0

I am wondering if a tailor could lower the neckline a little for me. Maybe it's because of my swollen thyroid, but I find it sits a little higher even than it's supposed to.... like right across the base of my neck. Do you think it can be done, or too risky?
