So...for the first time in a long time, I retook the questionnaire (a rather short version of it at least). I guess we can change over time? Because now I come out a ISFJ(-A). Hmm.

I may be ISFJ - just by description and not entirely sure.

The Harmonious Stylist: ISFJ

THE STYLE FRIEND

ISFJs are highly observant, precise and detail-oriented and these strengths shine through their ability to assemble well-coordinated ensembles. They may take a conventional approach to style, wearing classic pieces or adapting a look similar to friends, relatives or role models. Often this is an almost unconscious way of saving time and being appropriate. ISFJs will employ their fine eye for detail to become aware of the colors, fabrics, and shapes that best suit their personal coloring and body shapes.

Suz, HOW did you remember I'm an ENFJ! I'm very impressed. I test it 90% plus every time.

The Expressive Stylist: ENFJ

THE STYLE CONNECTOR

ENFJs often seek to dress for those they will be with. For example, “business attire” may change if clients are older, younger, in a creative or a conservative industry, entrepreneurs struggling to get a business off the ground, and so on. ENFJs are amazingly aware of the feelings of others and are often adept at sensing how people are reacting to them and what they are wearing. ENFJs are also keenly aware that their own mood can be affected by not feeling put together or by straying too far from their own sense of style.

I AM GOBSMACKED AT HOW ACCURATE THIS IS.

Suz, so interesting ... I have an unofficial theory that we lean into our wings are young adults, almost as a way of rebelling or expanding on our core type ... I was very 7ish in that time of my life ... Mind you this is just my musing about it. Donna haha and thanks for starting this awesome thread!

Wow, am I the only ESFP?

The Vivacious Stylist: ESFP

THE STYLE CELEBRATOR

"ESFPs have an approach to style that is founded on the practical – what does the situation and environment require to give them room to fully participate? They often enjoy clothing, style and shopping, but don’t take it too seriously. ESFPs avoid too much structure and prefer a ‘go with the flow’ approach to their wardrobe, expanding their style choices to accommodate many options. Bored by too much of the same thing, they often change up their outfits by combining new pieces to create an entirely new ensemble, or by purchasing new items which freshen up their wardrobes"

I'm practical. Definitely enjoy clothing, shopping and style, but I'm fairly serious about it. I'm not quite sure what she means by "go with the flow" here, but I definitely like my style choices to work hard for me. I get bored by the same thing...team silhouette here! I sometimes buy outfits, but I have great basics, so I'm able to take my wardrobe in a lot of different directions with the addition of a piece or two.

So funny...my friends, husband and I were just discussing the Myers-Briggs on Friday. I think they were all ISFJ's...glad they didn't boot me out of the car, lol!!

Another INTx reporting in - I was more of a solid J earlier in life and now I can be either or right in the middle depending on what’s been going on with me. If we looked at MBTI types and the responses to the folding thread the other day, I bet we’d get some pretty strong correlations.

Hmm. Never done enneagram. I think I’m a 1. I’ve yelled at a boss, upbraided a client, and chosen jobs because of 1. And a person has quit on me and called me a monster because I’m very serious about food safety. Have no idea how THAT impacts style... except I don’t wear makeup or jewelry often...

LOL!

Suz, there are many, many tests, and the conventional wisdom seems to be that none should be considered definitive - because the Enneagram is really based on internal motivations rather than external behaviours - so it's difficult to quiz for. The advice tends to be to use the test as an introduction, but be open to the fact that you may decide you are actually a different type, as you get into the material (maybe take a look at your 2nd and 3rd place finishers in addition to your 1st, as a start).

I started out thinking I was a 1, but eventually realized that I am a 6 (btw that process was useful in itself).

That said - the Riso/Hudson test is widely considered the best:

http://www.canadianenneagram.ca/rheti/ (this is a sampler; there is a paid version too which is more in depth but this one is a great starting point)

and, my personal fave, the only one that got my type as the first choice is the EnneaApp quiz, which is an inexpensive, one time payment app which I found in the Google Play store (I think it was $2 or $3).

Finally, this article might be helpful:

https://thoughtcatalog.com/hei.....read-this/ ... if one of these fears really triggers you, that may be your type! (or at least help you narrow it down).

Let me know how you do!

As to Enneagram - my gosh, that's the rabbit hole to beat them all. I daren't start talking about it as I won't shut up - but if anyone needs info or resources, I'm happy to share what I know

Rabbit holes never ending -- we've had Kibbe, Myers-Briggs, and now Enneagram? Yikes. I need to re-do the Enneagram test. Been so long I don't remember my supposed type there.

Look at this for the INFJ dream wardrobe -- does it not sound like my closet??

The clothes would be in a range of soft cool blues and greys, minimal rainbow colours. Quality items in cotton, silk, linen and wool. Leather shoes, no high heels. Exercise, renowear and other practical items included but behind closed doors or in drawers. Everything on open rails, hooks or shelves to look serene and harmonious. If the room was large enough, a comfy armchair. The whole to be a sanctuary, that has a subtle, pared back vibe. Nothing too much (INFJ)

Oh, and this! I can't imagine a clearer description of my style strengths (and those of some of the other INFJ's who've self-identified here).

Enneagram 3 with a heavy 4 wing here! And an ENFP (Shevia - you're an INFP! Which explains why I resonate so much with your posts.)

Nemosmom - prepare to be taken down the rabbithole

This is so me:

The
Whimsical Stylist: ISFP

The Style Artisan

ISFPs approach to style is often subtle, dressing to ensure that
they don’t draw unnecessary attention, yet will still express their uniqueness.
Some ISFPs stand out more through choice of an asymmetrical silhouette, unusual
piece of jewelry or unexpected color combination – but they’re doing it to
amuse themselves and for artistic expression, not to attract attention. Averse
to conflict and tension, their style choices are always founded on what will
work for the current situation, including the people they are spending time
with. ISFPs possess a strong sense of style that is expressed in an
unpretentious way.

With all these different personality types it got me wondering, what “type” is most influential on fashion to start trends?
Is it the outgoing people who mingle and party but usually wear what’s “in style”, the shy; reserved people who have their own unique sense of style, or someone in between not quite outgoing but not shy and mixes it up with style constantly changing?

I always thought the outgoing, party people were most influential because they advertise and make themselves known and some people might think popular is what we must follow to fit in, but I’m not so sure so id love to hear what you all think!
