Suz: Thank you. Those Fluevog shoes are amazing.

Violettt: I've never heard of Camper shoes and they are very cool.

Runcarla: I love the look and comfort of the Fitflops, and being slides they slip on and off easily which works for me in the house. My outside shoes have to have backs.

Joy: You always look so beautifully dressed and I had no indication of any limitations. I love your creativity and wardrobe.

Wishing your wardrobe happiness in 2018, Bonnie. As an older person, I'm never sure what my body will demand next. My back says I need easy slip-ons...no tieing or buckles. Doctor says no sandals, open shoes or heels to protect diabetic feet from injury. This past year sheath dresses are off limits unless I ask for help with back zippers. Insulin injections in the stomach mean I need discrete and easy access, so separates rule. Being on the far side of menopause means feeling drafts (something that really makes me feel old!) and running cold in general. Overall, I feel lucky that I have shoulder rotation to reach above my waist and am not too arthritic yet to manage buttons. My tie sneakers need to be replaced with slip ons. Perforated loafers are my version of sandals...just a heads up not to invest too much in lace-ups or sandals or heels. Everything needs to be rather light weight.

If some of you are looking for clunky and feminine check out this website: Camper. They are such a unique shoe company and very popular in Europe. I have a pair from Paris, the T strap Mary Janes shown in what I posted above. They are super comfy, non slip with a rubber sole and heel, how fab is that? There are some very unique styles on the site now: https://www.camper.com/en_US/women/shoes I think the "Alright" model are really cute, also the Kobe, and the Bowie style, love them~The Karolina boots in blue are adorable too~,

They do make different lasts so you have to find the style family that works for your foot. Once you do they are extremely comfortable and well made.

Bonnie, have you looked at Munro? They may not work for everyone, but if they work they can be comfy and might be “clunky and feminine”. I purchased a pair this summer in my hunt for some sturdy, comfortable sandals. Mine obviously have heels, but they have so many styles that they are likely to have one that you might like.

Oh, Bonnie, I'll join you in your quest for clunky-femme or quirky-fancy shoes! You are lucky to be in a nice dry climate where you'll have more flexibility with dress shoe choices, or at least more opportunities to wear them.

My best warm-weather footwear addition was a pair of El Naturalista sandals:

https://www.amazon.com/El-Natu.....B06XDMZYRB

The bit of heel makes them feel a bit "special" and the colours (black upper, white sole) means they go with just about everything in my wardrobe. This is a brand Style Fan has had luck with too -- they definitely skew euro-quirky, so maybe worth a look.

smittie: Thank you. Our desert is lovely in the winter but HOT in the summer, so we like to get away then. We get monsoons in the summer which cools it off for a few hours and keeps it green all year long.

ladypainter: Another desert dweller - you're right, we are very casual with a bit of a cowboy vibe, too. I think I'm set with sneakers for a while but Ecco is a brand I've been curious to try.

rachylou: I have no dressy feminine outfits. If the shoes work it will mean shopping for a whole new capsule. That might be fun.

kkards: This is a new idea that I've just now articulated. I'll try the new Sartos first and if they don't work for me, then I'll search for something more my style whatever that is. I'll keep you posted.

krissy751: Thank you.

Violettt: I can wear sandals 7-8 months a year, so they are a big part of my shoe wardrobe. I do keep my toenails painted and am lucky that my feet are in good condition. We do have a rec room, pool, tennis courts, and more. There's always something to do and everyone is happy and friendly.

Jenni NZ: Oh, I really like your boots and how fun to have lace on your sneakers.

I like the sound of femininity and clunky combined Bonnie. I know your boots are in good shape, all the same will show you my best mix of those two things in my gold star Steve Madden boots and my cobalt boots. Then my fave slip-on Skechers I love because they have black lace!
I like your bone-coloured chunky yet strappy sandals.

Hi Bonnie: Just love those Cole Hahn sandals~!perfect for warm weather, but gotta make sure your toes and feet are in polished condition, no dry heels and nicely polished toes when wearing any sandals.
Your retirement community sounds lovely! I love places like that~! Do they have a pool and a rec room? And probably activities? I'd love to live in a place like that too, nice and safe.
Well, my feet have been through the ringer. I can no longer wear any heels at all unless they are a rubber bottom and not too high. I bought these Camper T strap pumps in Paris but all taupe color with a lavender heel, and love them still:https://www.ebay.com/i/142570808133?chn=ps and have arthritis in my big toe joint and a bunion, so shoes have to be comfy and wide enough now in my senior years...lol. and rubber bottom. I have found I adore shoes with memory foam. Bought some Adidas slip ons with memory foam, comfy comfy for day to day~and Tod's Driving mocs, are my favorite. https://www.saksfifthavenue.co.....47&PR
I have sneakers but don't really wear them. I don't like my feet to be all confined on a day to day basis. Love mules too, and bought 4 pair this year: https://www.stevemadden.com/pr.....R&
Shoes are always a challenge.

The Franco Sarto shoes are very cute--the chunky heel does add a touch of quirky to the delicate strap & D'Orsay style, I think.
Have you tried Ecco? That Scandi "hip but healthy" aesthetic might be interesting to you. Their online site offers sales pretty regularly.
If your desert town is like mine, you almost cannot get too quirky, boho or cult-orthopedic when it comes to shoes.

2017 was the third year of my attempt to build a wardrobe. I started with very few clothes because for a few years after retirement I lived and traveled in a RV. After seeing much of the US and Canada, we bought a home in the desert. It's in a retirement community with lots of social opportunities and we like to attend cultural activities in the larger community. I have lots of opportunities to dress up, and found and followed Angie and YLF to help me with this undertaking. This was a year of finding wardrobe holes and trying to fill them.

For my first Review, I am focusing on sneakers and sandals because they were the only shoes (boots are in good shape) I bought this year, and they work perfectly for my casual life. I like my shoes and jeans to match and all of my purchases worked really well. I wore them often and they were comfortable. I ignored my 2016 and 2015 sandals and sneakers except for the black Nikes and white Supergas. The FitFlop Wedges were perfect house shoes and I've worn them every day since I got them.

In 2018, I plan to add dressy shoes. I have black pumps, black patent loafers, and a pair of neutral wedge sandals. None of them are feminine, they all all kind of clunky and quirky. I'm going to try and see if I like dressier shoes and I have ordered the Franco Sarto shoes (like Angie's but a different color). They haven't arrived yet and if I like them, they will need their own dressy capsule. Maybe I should look for a shoe that combines femininity and clunky - that might be truer to my style.
