Oh, yes, the mid 30's to 40 in between land! I shopped a lot online due to the not quite right departments in dept. stores.
I live in Tahoe (most of the time - FL the rest) and I'm in the same boat. It's going to be 1 degree tonight. All my old sweaters seem too short and I'm struggling to put together looks that are warm enough and still look current. Add to that, most sweaters I'm eyeing are not cheap. So I feel ya!

I imagine you'd be gorgous in jewel tones - deep rubies, emeralds, sapphires. Pants are the hardest thing to fit. I like them with a little bit of spandex (or whatever it is that gives stretch), because 1) haha, it helps my pants stay on and 2) it "molds" to your personal contours.

Re. the cold: I believe in fleece lined tights ;>

Hi! Welcome to YLF!

I definitely can empathize with you about everything in the store feeling too old or too young: I recently have had to take my shopping to the UK to find the aesthetic I craved.

Have you ever tried fleece lined tights?

Welcome! We have some YLF members who live (or have lived) where you are living and they are sure to pop up with advice for your climate! As for jeans, specifically, if you post a question about fitting jeans for your body type, I'll bet you would get some great suggestions from others who know this issue.

Hi Tara

Welcome.

This is THE place where everyone, regardless of body shape, age, lifestyle or budget can find the right answers. The rules are simple: you ask, everyone chimes in Or you just read... or you post outfits and we comment and make suggestions, but you don't have to. Whatever makes YOU feel comfortable. If there's a will, there's a way :-)

Slowly, over time, you'll have a wardrobe that will make you happy, I promise.

It's a bit hard to tell, but from your picture I bet you would look great in most colours. Which appeal to you?

What about some colourful winter accessories: Scarves, gloves, hats?

Welcome to YLF! There is an impressive range of ages and body types represented here and I think you'll find that neither has much bearing on stylishness.

Hello everyone! Right now I hate getting dressed. In the winter I have a hard time finding good colors, so I end up in black, gray and navy all season. Also I am 32 and everything in the store seems too young or too old. I have gained some weight. Mostly I have a hard time finding jeans/pants. I have slim legs and hips but then a large rib cage. I love living in Colorado and I enjoy winter sports but dressing for winter is not fun. I already feel top heavy and my poor little legs freeze. I need help and I am hoping being a part of this site will help.
Also I am on a budget , yet another challenge.
