They are all beautiful interpretations, but #2 is AMAZING, with #1 running a close second. How lucky that you had that umbrella. It *makes* the outfit.

I so admire your ability to layer without making it look bulky or like there's too much going on in the outfit. Brilliant interpretations - please don't make me pick a favourite!

I loved seeing your outfit interpretations Diana! They were all, as usual, expertly layered and very arty. You've got some truly amazing and unique pieces, and really know how to blend them together to create such a cohesive and strong look. I ADORE #2 (what a cute umbrella!), that was my favorite! I can see why you have a closet full of those colors Even though the muted colors were tougher, you really wear them quite well; #1 and #5 are especially lovely!

Oh, I love 3! I would never have thought of putting a button-down under that kind of dress (well, under any dress), but it looks great. It makes a cute jersey dress look grown-up.

WOW! You really know how to capture the vibe of the pics. I simply adore every single one of these. I think 1 and 2 are my absolute faves. The color combo in 2 is just so spot on and so striking--teal jacket, I'm looking at you! That color/outfit pairing is just out of this world fab. You have such a strong sense of personal style. I'm amazed at how artistically you put together your outfits--4 has some unique pieces that on their own could look very sweet but the way you put them together makes them look so hip and cool. Fab set of outfits, Diana. LOVE your rockin' cool style!

Thanks, ladies! I think #2 is my favorite as well (although I also like #1 a lot). It was also the easiest photo for me, because of all the bright colors, and half of my wardrobe is green or teal anyway. I found the muted colors in 1, 4, and 5 quite difficult.

You look wondeful in teal & turquoise 2&3 are my favourites. I can't quite get my head around 5. I can certainly see the inpiration from the nature photo but I'm a bit distracted by all the different layers.

I can't believe how good these are! They almost needed no explanation. I think having the close-up pictures of the textures and patterns in the details was really helpful! Excellent work (and I know it must have been work, even if it was fun)!

Diana, all of your interpretations are amazing but the second one is out of this world. When I see the pic beside the outfit I can see how well you brought it to life.

1. April 30, 2012
I chose my dark taupe slouchy clams, a lavender tee, and my grey-and-black crinkly textured blazer to go with the muted, low contrast palette of the photo. The mobius brooch recalls the moon, and the gold tree necklace reflects the trees in the background. Grey in various textures (the crinkly blazer, distressed oxfords, pebbly leather satchel) brings to mind the texture of elephant skin.
PS - Remember my little friend from last year?
Ines Raspoort blazer, H&M tee, French connection pants, Born oxfords, Audrey Brooke satchel, gifted brooch, Etsy necklace, handknit elephant.

2. May 1, 2012
I'm sure it will surprise no one that this was my favorite photo of the bunch. Today it is cold and rainy, which necessitated a small adjustment (shoes) but I got to add my raincoat/trench and umbrella, which actually match the theme quite well, so it's all good (wet commute aside).
My mustard jeans, turquoise blazer, teal bag, and green handknit top reflect the colors of the photo. The scarf reminds me of seaweed. The dark grey patent boots provide that hint of bottom-of-the-ocean darkness and their shininess brings to mind reflective water. (Originally, I had planned to wear my black lace-up steve madden boots, where the laces would represent the dark stems, but I switched them for the waterproof option instead.) Even though there are no fish in the photo, I figured my fish bracelet would be appropriate. My shiny blue-faced Movado watch also reminds me of deep water. My blue trench with orange lining also plays very nicely with the photo. Finally, my blue/teal/citron umbrella matches both the colors and shapes of the photo!
Nic+Zoe blazer, handknit top and scarf, Anthro jeans, Naot boots, Etsy bracelet, Movado watch, Tulle trench, Allison Scott bag, and Benetton umbrella

3. May 2, 2012
To go with the stunning colors of the photo, I chose a palette of blue, white, and warm earth tones. The striations of the rock formations are echoed by my multistrand necklace and the "striping" of my boots, socks, and tights as well as the laces on my boots. I wanted to play with the idea of reflection as well, so I've reflected the earth tones from the top of my outfit (necklace, jacket) in the bottom (boots and socks).
F21 dress, Kenneth Cole blouse, ??? tights and socks, Miz Mooz boots, ??? jewelry, Longchamps bag, Oakwood jacket.

4. May 3, 2012
The colors that pop out in this photo for me are green (obviously) and icy, pale, cool greys/blues/whites. The green was really easy, but the icy cool tones were harder as most of my wardrobe is overwhelmingly dark and saturated. I chose a patterned green skirt, green tights, a white blouse with pale green pinstripes, teal handbag, and a grey-green handknit sweater to reprensent the colors. My twisty silver bracelets represent the sinuous, winding motion of the water, as do the straps on my boots. The leafy pattern of the sweater and the small floral print of the skirt echo the intricate, organic patterning of the foliage.
This outfit was better without the tights but it's cold and rainy again today and I did not want to freeze!
handknit sweater, Theory blouse, handmade (by mom) skirt, Gap tights, Rieker Remonte Dorndorf boots, Allison Scott bag, bracelets: one gifted vintage, one from Macys.

5. May 4, 2012
When I looked at this photo, I saw shades of grey, black, beige, and gold. Now we all know I don't do beige, so I went for cream instead. My tank has a houndstooth pattern that reminds me of the tesselating nature of the tortoise shells, and the slightly splashy pattern of differently toned neutrals suggests the watercolory nature of the layers of landscape in the background. My gold cuff bracelet is reflective like the water and golden like the sky in the photo. A slightly rugged leather jacket is suggestive of the tortoises' leather skins.
Tulle bolero, Anthro tank, w118 skirt, Born oxfords, Ariane Arazi cuff, gifted agate bangle, Levi's moto jacket.
