And then I did have three weeks of being sick in winter when I wore softer clothes. Yay! You know, I don’t wear my statement tops that much either. It’s often chilly enough to need a light jacket or sweater, or hot enough that I will wear a dress. I'm not as surprised about the blouses and shirts. I tend not to wear my "nicer" ones as often as I imagine I will, either-- partly because I have a fairly large collection (so wears are split) and partly due to weather. I do wear long sleeves more than I did in my previous climate. There, it was sleeveless or warm knits, really -- so long sleeved cotton shirts had little place. Here, I find a long sleeved cotton or linen shirt (with sleeves scrunched, usually) is a godsend from April -- June and again in Sept/ Oct. For me the surprises are around a few things that I wear less than I think- blouses mostly as I think I wear dresses in summer and jumpers in winter. I sighed a bit putting on my black “ponte biker” pants ( $25 from Glassons 2020) for the second time this year already- normally too warm for this time of year but with rain and after floods ( we were all OK) it feels the right temperature. And they’re so warm and comfortable. Last year I wore them 68 times! Tracking wears has shown me the workhorses that I would want to replace quickly if they wore out- and where I have lots of things that don’t get enough wear. I did some estimates of cost per wear and total wears based on my current data. </p> <p>I have a few essential updates that will be needed<br /> - black joggers - Lululemon on the fly pants - mine are very worn after 8 years!! The quality was stellar.<br /> - puffer or similar in a more modern shape- yet to see what this is<br /> - updated denim(1-2) at least one being good for work<br /> - new merino gear top<br /> - couple pieces of activewear<br /> - tan slouchy handbag - purchased one online second hand but still on the way. It’s a brand I have been wanting to buy for a long time - Deadly Ponies.</p> <p>We are doing a camping and 4wd holiday in the middle of the year- that’s just DH and me, and i am also doing a long train trip (the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin) with my 83 year old Dad. He’s then going to remote Western Australia to visit cattle stations…….</p> <p>I am feeling confident and happy in my style. My clothes and what I wear is the fun easy part of my life. </p> <p>I would like to define my colour palette better- I seem to still be enjoying light neutrals and brights anchored with black and navy.
