I was elated, hopeful - thrilled to begin a possible step on the road forward. Appointment booked!<div>Then I got a call from the Hospital that since I had a severe anaphylactic allergic reaction to a chemotherapy drug I needed to meet with the oncologist. Appointment done and the answer is no vaccine. The vaccine and the chemotherapy drug use some of the same ingredients. Appointment canceled. This was a huge disappointment. I won’t lie, I wept.<br />Then two days later they said we have some people who had the vaccine successfully by using a pretreatment protocol. They told me I could try this but it has some risk. Appointment rebooked! Once again feeling hopeful but this time wary.&nbsp;</div><div>It took tremendous emotional fortitude to go to the appointment which was booked at a hospital because they can offer acute care. I felt that it was worth the risk but still terrified of anaphylaxis.<br />Well yesterday I went for my appointment having taken all the pre meds. Sadly they decided it was too risky and after 3 hours I was sent home.<br />On Thursday I have an appointment with an allergist who specializes in vaccines and I’m hoping beyond hope that they will consider astra or J&amp;J.
