How far North are you going? How far from the Acrtic Circle? I have been aroun 100km beyond the Arctic Circle in Northern Europe three times - twice in Summer and once in winter - and this was definitely one of my most favorite places. The nature is so amazing there and feels so different from anything else. The play of colors in the sky is unbelievable even in summer - the best usnrises and sunsets even when sun does not go down at all. Just amazing!<br /> Have fun and you definitely going to look well coordinated in your gear. Thin, wickable layers, and a windproof outer jacket. I'm taking a set of long underwear and my running capris (will double as running pants for some workouts on the onboard treadmill as well as an underlayer for expeditions), two pairs of good hiking pants, a couple of long-sleeved shirts, two fleece overlayers, good socks, mulitple pairs of gloves and glove liners, and hiking shoes. If my experience in Iceland last year is any indicator, the main concern is keeping out wind and rain, more than bundling up for warmth. Black, turquoise and purple. Not my most fashionable pieces, but comfy and functional.</p> <p>The plaid scarf is not gear, but I wear it for warmth as a bit of pattern to zing up my eggplant windbreaker (under the turquoise hoodie on the left). I always end up using it to wipe water off my camera, LOL. </p>
